I have one more of those guys to plant and I think I found a place for it in a front flower bed.
I haven't been to Lowes in two or three weeks now which is a record for sure. All this rain has really cut down on the gardening opportunities.

Thanks, sunset.
I finally got mulch down in the bed that I planted most of them in. All of them turned out to be really healthy plants.

I love the pictures. I love blue flowers anyway and against a white trellis they are striking.
I just bought my first hibiscus so I enjoyed that huge hibiscus photo. I have a gigantic rugosa rose that needs cutting back, it's growing like a weed here. Will post some photos of New Dawn rose as soon as he blooms. (or is it a SHE, lol)

I think the hibiscus are my favorite plant. they do well here and rarely does it get cold enough for them to completely die. They usually need to be cut back but I have lost very few of them completely.
My favorites are the double blooms like in my pictures.

I don't follow all the gardening posts as DH is the landscaping guy at our house, but I saw this today and thought of you guys.

Some of us have been rained out of our gardens. Now it's time to go slogging through the mud and finish where we left off. One more row of beets for me to put in and transplant the morning glories, spray the roses with dish soap to kill the aphids. Done. Except for the usual watering and tending.

Most of my roses have gone into a decline from too much rain and soggy ground. At least that is what I think it is.
Oh well, if they don't make it, I know where Lowes garden center is.

Thanks Val, I think it is.
I think I may add some of those to my garden next year. I love climbers and that color is to die for.

That's what it is! Last year it looked so awful that I cut it back to the ground and it came back beautiful! I love this color purple. The blooms are about as big as my hand.

Looks like water hyacinth plant, but is that a little water lily bloom?

There are both in the koi pond. The lilies are just budding/blooming now and the hyacinths are barely getting buds. I'm hoping to get a good pic of the hyacinths this year. Last year they bloomed and faded so fast I didn't get a good pic. Will have irises in a few weeks too.

This is a picture of our outdoor sitting area. The pond is on the right side of the photo. 6 years ago, this was a swimming pool! We got sick of the pool and sold it (on Ebay!!) and started planting trees and things. We started out with full sun flowers and gradually changed over to part shade stuff as the trees grew bigger. DH and I love to sit out here in the mornings and have a cup of coffee and just talk.

That's a gorgeous outdoor oasis. So peaceful looking. I LOVE morning glories. I think I may have started too many. I have a pot full and a window box full and another large pot crammed with them. ALSO, they are coming up from seeds that must have fallen last year. I will post some pictures of roses because nothing else is in bloom this early here.

Here's a stargazer lily from last year. They haven't bloomed yet this year.

Gorgeous color on that lily! The water hyacinths are starting to bloom in the koi ponds now!

I have some Shasta daisies blooming in there now and I went to take some pictures this morning. I barely escaped with my life!!! The mosquitoes are so horrible you can't even breathe without inhaling at least one of them! (Ewww gross!!) We've had so much rain in the last few weeks that the flood mosquitoes are here now. The only thing I have found that works to keep them away is the Deep Woods OFF, and I really hate to use that stuff. But in order to be outside for more than 30 seconds, we have to.

I had attack mosquitoes in my yard this evening too. I drained the pond again and put some skeeter killer in the little water that was left.
I don't know which are worst here-the mosquitoes or the fleas.
Hopefully the rain has stopped for a few days.

I have 1 iris that survived the winter. It bloomed the day I took this picture, then the next day it rained so hard it squashed the flower into the pond and snapped the stem! At least I have a photo, right?

Sunset, I love that area. It looks so so peaceful. We can't put water hyacinths in our pond as the koi are too big and will just eat them up. In the upper pond we have a water lilly but it hasn't bloomed as it's been raining so much.
My regular gardens and deck were doing good as we got rid of the groundhog. But low and behold it must have had babies as I started to notice everything being eaten again. Mike put the trap out last night and there is a baby GH in it. I feel sorry for him! But not sorry enough to let him stay in my neighborhood!

Roy, we actually have 2 ponds, 1 is in the ground and the other is a free standing patio pond. I have bigger fish in the bigger in ground one and their babies in the smaller one. The big fish eat the roots but the smaller ones don't so I rotate the hyacinths every week or so. I've had good luck with them blooming all summer this way.
I have a friend who gets to adopt my koi when they get too big for our pond and she has floating baskets that she puts the water hyacinths and water lettuce in so the fish can't get to them.
