Yep, but I love ALL of Kritter's kitten-adopting stories. It's always nice to be reminded that there are so many wonderful people out there, giving so much thought to choosing just the right pet. You just know that those homes really are fur-ever!

It was really a fun couple. They had to go to an ATM to get cash for the adoption donation and when he came back, the wife wasn't with him. He said that he had dropped her off at Walmart and she was buying kitten stuff. She kept sending him pics of cat trees and scratching posts that she was buying.
Skittles did good.
It was really funny when he kept trying to persuade her to get the Siamese kitten. She was holding Skittles and no way was the husband making any headway. In fact, the first one he brought over, Skittles hissed at and she said "not that one". He then brought over another one that Skittles apparently liked better.
Its so great when a plan comes together.

LOLOL Oh, I had put Skittles' favorite mouse in my pocket in case I met his adopter yesterday which, of course, I did, so Skittles will find his mouse when he gets to his new home. That will be also with all the new toys that were purchased at Walmart yesterday by his new mom.

That lil kitten came a long way in a month. It was 4 weeks ago today that he was skin and bones and tried to die on me.
Makes all the worry, hand wringing, and OMG emails to Shirley worthwhile.

It's the successes like that that makes it all worthwhile Kritter.
Lots of worries with that one and he made it thru it all with flying colors.

Skittles has learned early what many people never learn at all, even when old.
Life is short and fleeting. Work it. Live it. Enjoy it.
My man Skittles is a wise cat in a kitten body.

I wouldn't have kept Skittles because he needs his own home but I will miss him and his little whiny meow. He is a talker and has no problem letting you know what is on his mind.

Sounds like Skittles found a wonderful home. All of those kittens are lucky to have come home with you. Thanks for giving them the love and support they needed before going out into the world Kritter!

The true lucky ones are all the ones that this rescue takes in from being put back out on the street to fend for themselves after being spayed/neutered at the city shelter.
The way things are going now it looks like this is the first year in lots of years that there will be kittens available at Christmas.

I wonder what Skittles' new sibling is like? Maybe she reminds him of Sabrina.

She is like a baby Sabrina although a little more Siamese in her. Lots of long hair.
Only weighs 2.3 pounds and most of that it the hair.

Has anyone notified the local media about the true nature of the "no kill" city shelter?

No, not that I know of. They keep it pretty close to the vest on that.
The only way I know is because the rescue pulls so many of the ones with tipped ears that were on their way out the door. If the word got out and it got ugly, it could very well come back on her and that would make it even worse on the cats if they wouldn't let her rescue anymore.
I know a lot of people are of the opinion that at least they have a chance but when you stop and think about it, its not that much of a chance. So, we keep underground and pull as many as we have room for and at least give some of them a better chance than the streets.
This rescue also works with dog rescues in other states and they have arranged many transports to Iowa, Idaho, and other states in the upper United States that apparently have homes looking for dogs.
There are not enough people here that give animals high priority or the spay/neuter programs would be more of a success in lowering the number of animals that are turned into the city shelter or are picked up off the streets. There just not enough people here that really care.

Well Kritter I have to say that I feel like I just read another of your children's books. "The Halloween Kittens". Please think about trying to write a bit.

Just saw an update on KitKat.....
"I've been waiting to post this picture of our KitKat and his new adopter. This is such a nice man - he wanted a playmate for his black/white kitty and decided he wanted to give KitKat a wonderful loving home!! He, as all of us, was so upset about what happened to KitKat's leg - he just wanted to make sure he was well cared for and loved for the rest of his life!! The last picture is a picture of how KitKat's leg looks now. It's healing nicely but I don't know that it will ever be 100%.
AND, the investigator has filed the case with the DA's office!!! YEA - I'll keep everyone informed when I hear back on it."
Pic looks like a really nice guy and I am sure he has been thoroughly vetted by the rescue.
And YAY for filing a case against the fool that hurt KitKat.
