Another good mystery/cop show is One Lane Bridge on Acorn. It has a slightly supernatural bent to it. The scenery is gorgeous, mostly filmed in the Queenstown are of New Zealand.

Season 4 of 9-1-1 Lone Star kicked off this week. As usual, they started the season with a highly unlikely (but still possible) weather event and it was a hoot. I really like how this show doesn't take itself quite as seriously as the original 9-1-1 does. Shirley and I were discussing possible "out there" extreme weather events for them to use in future shows

I love their disaster episodes. It takes me back to the 70's when the big disaster movies were popular.

You'd think there would be less weather disasters in central TX, but nope. They don't happen like Lone Star portrays them, but every single one of them *could* happen here in theory, even the volcano episode (there are around 200 extinct volanoes in TX - who knew?) I still think the volcano one was the best, but this last one was a very close second. They even referenced the volcano in this last episode I'm waiting for the TX earthquake. Or the fire tornado

Ooo Rob Lowe! It's on a station that I seldom watch. Thanks for the reminder. He's great in this show. I don't know what network it's on. I catch it on Hulu. You can watch the original 9-1-1 (based in LA) on Hulu too. It's good too. I know they've had at least one crossover episode between the two shows and every now and then one character will show up on the other show. I decided to watch Chicago Fire since there are so many cross over episodes from Chicago Med. Based on Med, I wasn't expecting much. I'm happy to be wrong - Chicago Fire is AWESOME. I was watching Station 19 but gave up - it concentrates on the personal lives to the extent it's a poorly scripted soap opera. It has lot of unlikeable leading characters, and very few rescue scenes. Not worth the time. But Chicago Fire? GREAT characters, really good storylines (I think my fav is the episode where the 9-1-1 system gets hacked and House 51 has to do the 9-1-1 dispatch the old fashioned way), awesome rescues and enough of the personal lives to make it interesting but without the soap opera drama. If you don't watch it, give it a try. The current season is on NBC and you can binge watch from the beginning on Peacock. It was the first show in the Chicago trilogy and you can see where Med and PD got their start. I even googled to see how they do the fire scenes. Yeah, it's real fire with real actors variety.com/2022/artisans/news/chicago-fire-stunts-fire-sequences-how-they-do-it-1235385859/And I take back what I said a few months ago about any fire show not being able to match up to 9-1-1 and 9-1-1 Lone Star. Chicago Fire holds its own and in some ways is better. The technical aspect of CF is the best of the three shows, all shows have likeable characters, but Lone Star just seems to have the most fun of the three shows. Shirley and I think the writers probably have a lot of fun thinking up new disasters for the 126.

I set my DVR to automatically record Lone Star.
Chicago Fire is my fav and it continues to impress every season. Characters come and go, unfortunately.
I am now watching Will Trent and really like it too.

I like his character. I hope they keep him on the show, now that he and Owen aren't at loggerheads with each other.

Yes, apparently he will stay in. I read that when I googled to find out where I had seen him before.

Shotgun Wedding on Amazon Prime is pretty cute. It stars Jennifer Lopez and Josh Duhamel. They're having a destination wedding and it's hijacked by pirates. Jennifer & Josh are pretty good together - I wouldn't mind seeing them team up again for another rom com.

For those here who are Death In Paradise fans (on BritBox), there is a spin off series now, Beyond Paradise. It follows Humphrey and Martha as they get engaged and move to Cornwall. It has the same fun quirkiness as Death in Paradise, but definitely is not a carbon copy of DIP. Humphrey has to solve all kinds of wacky cases (not just murders like DIP). It's worth watching. No official word on season 2, but given the viewership #s, BBC would be really foolish to cancel the show. It also stars Jamie Bamber from Law & Order UK.

For any Bridgerton fans, there's a new related series on Netflix, Queen Charlotte. This one goes back in time to the beginning when Charlotte married King George. There are flash forwards (or flashbacks depending on how you want to look at) with the current actress playing the Queen and the two ladies playing the heads of the families from Bridgerton. The trailers look great. Starts this Thursday 5/4.

Does anyone else love A Million Little Things like I do? Tonight is the last show of the series and I can't believe that they are ending the show when there are so many potential storylines possible.
Tissues will be needed!

Netflix' Queen Charlotte was EXCELLENT. I was crying my eyes out at the end of the season finale (no one died). If you haven't watched the two seasons of Bridgerton, you probably won't get about half of the the plots of Queen Charlottae and you definitely won't appreciate the ending. If you haven't watched Bridgerton yet, why not? LOL - gorgeous costumes and sets, and very good acting. Well written and very entertaining. But Queen Charlotte was awesome. It was meant as a limited series and the ending was perfect. Well, except for Brimsley since we're never told what happened to Reynolds.
Now that I know Charlotte & George's backstory, I can't wait for the third season of Bridgerton.

Hoarders started again this past Monday! I had my DVR set to record any future shows, and was surprised to see that it is now in my saved shows. That show makes me feel less guilty of my own hoard.

For all you fire department show fans - check out Fire Country on CBS. It was a new show this past season and has been renewed for a second season. I'll admit, the trailers did nothing for me so I didn't watch it. Now that all my regular shows are on hiatus, I needed something to watch. So Fire Country it was. Think Chicago Fire but with forest wildfires. Good plots, very likeable characters, decent drama but not overwhelming and soap opera-ish like Station 19 is, and gorgeous scenery (British Columbia).

If anyone likes musicals and has Amazon Prime Video, Mama Mia is back on as a free movie - it goes on and off free status about every three months. Meryl Streep does a fantastic job as Donna and I marvel at her singing voice, never knew she could sing so well until I watched this movie. I just watched it again (4th time I think) and although some of it is very corny, it's a favorite of mine.
It features most of the Abba hits from way back; Dancing Queen, Mama Mia, Winner Takes it All, Thank you for the Music, etc. You need to be older to remember all those songs. Meryl Streep does a fantastic job on Winner Takes it All, worth watching just to watch/listen to her sing this out by the ocean with Pierce Bronson. Christine Baranski (Diane from The Good Wife) also stars in it, didn't realize she could sing so well also. Mama Mia 2, the sequel, is much better, but this is worth watching. The movie is set on a fictional Greek Island and the ocean views are stunning.

Foyle's War on Acorn is REALLY good. Typical Brit show - about 4 shows per season and each show is 90 minutes or so. It's about a policeman and you do have to pay attention because there are multiple things going on. Usually it's 2-3 crimes that appear unrelated in the beginning but end up either coming together as one or each affecting the other crimes but not done by the same (or even related) criminals, like a dominoe effect. Plus you have all of the WW2 history and the incredible sets from the 40's. Clothes, cars, planes - all from the era. The stories are based on real life events and the history, from what I've read as I look stuff up, is fictionalized but still suprisingly accurate. The first show is a bit slow but it gets much better. Once the war is ended, Foyle goes to work for MI5 and that's when the cases get really complicated

Foyle's War on Acorn is REALLY good. Agreed! Watched the entire series. Thoroughly enjoyed everything you talked about. The sets, the acting, the costumes & the twist & turns of each situation kept us interested throughout. Learned much about British life during that period of history. Was sad when got to the last episode & there were no more.

All episodes of the 5th and final season of The Marvelous Mrs Maisel are now on Prime. The finale is absolutely awesome, funny, and bittersweet all at once. I love how they tied up all the characters and let viewers know what happened - the show goes back and forth in time each episode.

Acorn TV has a new show, Cannes Confidential. Six episodes, last two drop on Monday so after that you can binge watch all 6 if you want. It's renewed for another year. It's filmed in Cannes and it's pretty good. It's about a female cop, her female partner, and the charming con man who help them solve cases. ETA: Ended up the show is very good, with a nice ending that lends itself to the next season. Scenery is really pretty too. Well worth the watch, especially if you were a fan of Remington Steele, Moonlighting, or Hart to Hart. I think it's more like Remington Steele than Moonlighting though, but that could just because I always liked Pierce Brosnan over Bruce Willis I love Jamie Bamber.

I don't know if you've seen Mama Mia 2 - Here We Go Again, it's a good watch but only if you've seen the first. It's a prequel and a sequel. Takes you back to when Donna was young and first arrives on the island, how she met the 3 guys. Then it comes back to the current where Sophie and Sky have renovated the entire hotel and the big grand reopening party that they've planned. All the original actors from the first show came back to play their parts. Cher plays Sophie's estranged grandmother and does a great singing job. The renovated hotel is beautiful - made me want to go sit in the inviting courtyard overlooking the sea.

Almost Paradise on Prime and Freevee is really good. Action show with great fight scenes and a good bit of humor if you're listening. If you like Hawaii 5-O remake, Magnum, Jackie Chan movies, etc I think you'll like Almost Paradise. Two seasons so far.

The new Frazier show on CBS/Paramount+ is pretty good. The supporting characters are quite good IMO.
