Good morning, everyone! We're in the home stretch for Christmas so if you still have things to get, time to "git 'er done". Winter also officially arrives on Wednesday, though we've already have a few previews. At least starting Thursday, we'll be adding a minute or two daylight again. I'd just be happy to see the sun again which only showed up literally for a few minutes last week. Temps going up a bit and then plummeting to around 10 for a high on Christmas Eve, and that's not counting in windchill so probably below 0. Like, brrrrrrr to that. Hope everyone has a peaceful, healthy week!

Since my comment last night is in the old thread, the foster contacted me this morning and did not think the yellow Lab would be a good fit. No biggee just that it confirms that they don’t disclose everything when they talk to you and/or list them on their sites. I must have hit the nail on the head with my questions.

Cloudy and low 50s today. It was raining earlier. Plumber just finished up and the water is back on. The apartment maintenance guys have to come back and recaulk the tile in the tub where the plumber had to cut it out to replace a part. But it's fixed, woo hoo! I've held off unpacking the bathroom until all was fixed. Today's planned work at the office has gone out the window in favor of putting out some fires for other clients. That's usually the case for the last two weeks of the year, and especially since we're closed next week. We'll have double the usual fires this week

I had a surprise today. Simon came of out hiding while the plumber was here and joined me in the office. That's a first. Trixie hid under the quilt on the bed, which was right outside the bathroom door where he was working. I guess she thought no one could see her. Twila hid in the pineapple bed in the closet here in the office.

It's snowing again - we're due to get 4-7", which is a lot around here. I went to the store along with everybody else and stocked up on some things. Normally it's no big deal since stores are no more than 1 1/4 mile from me and it's easy to walk, but I'm still coughing up a lung.
I was shocked SHAWKED to get two packages in the mail, identical, opened them up and it's two little garden boxes from eBay! There's chat about it on the forums and others have gotten them - not sure what the criteria is, but they sure are cute. There must have been a hiccup in the labeling that I got two boxes but I sure am not going to say anything there - there's already a lot of WAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH! I've been a seller for umptyseven years and never got one!!!!!! I don't want to say that I got two lol even if it was by accident.
If someone is really wanting one, though, I'll gladly share.

There's an article on Ina's site about ebay sending out seeds to some sellers. The majority of early comments were less than favorable.
Most of the layer of snow we got overnight day before yesterday is gone. Supposed to get snow towards and during weekend. It's not so much the amount as sadly too many people don't know how to drive when there's anything covering the road. Barely had a coating and there were many accidents that wouldn't have happened if people drove properly for the weather.

That one's funnier as I just read page 7 that was more about cats than seeds.
Here's Ina's:

Yeah, some of us got that thread on the right track.
The comments on Ina's blog are mostly worthless. Same old hacks, same old whining.
Seriously - if anyone wants one of these cute little boxes, I'll send it. They're adorable!

Any active thread over 2 or 3 pages will swing toward cats. It is just how it works.

I thought that was an internet rule - if you want your discussion thread to be widely read, you have to include cats, right? 🤷♀️

eBay has never given me any swag. Now they don't even want to give me sales.

Carolling used to be my favourite thing about Christmas.
We have 4-5" of snow on the ground (a lot for here) - it's pretty powdery but it rained for a little, then temp dropped again so everything is encased in ice. Roads are still slushy but quickly freezing as it has now dropped into the upper 20s, so I got out to get coffee (I was running out of coffee beans which is an emergency here) and some chicken tenders. My appetite was coming back after Covid and the hundred-plus miles I hiked in the UK, but since getting sick again I'm having trouble eating - for some reason I will eat chicken tenders, which I can't really taste but they're crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside and I've gotten into food texture lately in lieu of being able to taste anything. Supposed to get into the teens later which is quite cold for here - no wind, though, which is pretty strange as the wind pretty much continuously blows here.

Not looking forward to getting your weather later this week, Chap. What was supposed to be a mostly cloudy day turned into 34 and gorgeous sunshine all day. Hardly any wind and it actually felt great to bask in the sunshine and enjoy the crispness in the air. The sky was pale to light blue. Supposed to have at least a partial repeat tomorrow, then back to the overcast, white sky blah with rain and then snow and more snow. We'll have the coldest Christmas in 20 years. As of now, 10 degrees for high factoring windchill will make it feel like minus 10 Christmas Eve and about the same Christmas. Next week's supposed to warm up into the upper 40s which should melt off the snow. I like winter like this when it snows, warms up and melts off before snowing again.

We've got the weather people getting everyone all worked up about this "blizzard" we're supposed to get. Monday they were screaming about "18 inches of snow and 60 MPH winds!!!!!!!!!" We're now down to MAYBE 4 - 8" of snow and MAYBE 50 MPH wind gusts. It'll probably change again tomorrow. They did this all last summer too with dire forecasts of "massive thunderstorms" and "torrential downpours" that fizzled out days before they were supposed to arrive and we didn't get a drop of rain. I can't change the weather so I'll just deal with what happens. Hope the snowblower starts!! lol

Hubby has to bring the snowblower out from the shed and put it in the garage. Right now we are on the warmer side for the rain. Hopefully the temp will changeover after it stops.

The local news was warning about extremely cold weather! It turns out that there was an overnight low one night in the 20s. I grew up in the north, so I'm not impressed by their idea of extremely cold weather.

We're supposed to have another deep freeze statewide. Not as bad as the last one - no snow. But the entire state has freeze warnings from what I can see (even us) so that will make the power grid work harder due to the increased demand. Hopefully it won't go down again. Looks like 36 tonight, 19 tomorrow night, then 3 days with lows in the low 20s. Highs Fri-Sat of 34 and 38. Not like what some of you are used to, but then those in normally cold states have heating options that aren't electric This should be interesting.

Looks like a good part of the country is going well below normal for a couple/few days. I feel bad for those who don't have the clothing to deal with it, especially if they need to go outdoors.
Well, so much for kudos on how well USPS has been doing. I bought a book off Amazon that was picked up in Toledo, OH, which is about 2 hrs. from Cleveland. Instead of heading east to Cleveland, it went all the way to IL, has arrived and departed 3 facilities in IL and arrived and departed facility in IN. At least it's finally heading in the right direction.
Sun's out again so going out to poke around VoA that will probably be my last thrift trip for awhile. The fun's gone with slim pickings and high prices.

I bought two larger items that had to be shipped UPS Ground, and the retailer promised delivery by Christmas. I don't think they're going to make it. One is still at the shipper office waiting for UPS to pick it up. But it's OK, it's not like it was Christmas gifts for anyone, just me. I really don't care when they come in as long as they don't get lost. My new cute little space heater is just that - really little But it's doing the job, keeping the area around my feet and legs warm while I'm at the desk. I do wish the cord was about a foot longer though. I love the safety features. Two step turn on, shuts off and stays off if it's tipped. It would be good for a small bathroom, or like I have it - at my desk. It might work to heat up a very small office. Mine is 11x12 and it's not quite enough to warm the whole room. You can't beat the price though: www.amazon.com/dp/B0B4ZFS9CH?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_detailsThe cats are really enjoying the new tunnel I got them for Christmas. It's in the living room right now, but once all is unpacked and set up, it will go in the office. I have another one for the living room. The downside to them playing in the tunnels is that it's noisy and I have to get up sometimes to make sure they're playing with the tunnel and not destroying anything I have one of the MCM Christmas houses up on one of the end tables. So far, the kitties have left it alone. I set out two bottlebrush trees by the house. The cats loved playing with those on the floor. The trees are now packed up for next year LOL.

Bright & early at the feral spay/neuter clinic so taking a break to come back and feed my cats. Took Greta this morning and found another foster for her.
Probably bringing home a little black kitten that is walking the wild side but hoping it will calm down. The current foster has it loose and hiding in a room alone and that is not going to socialize the kitten.
Looks like Walmart is getting a fleet of their own electric store delivery vans. I have seen them at two of my stores so far.

We will have wind chills on Saturday at -14 degrees, after it rains. I am going to shut down my eBay stores for a few days since my carrier won't make it up my side road if I have to order pick-up.
The other sites give me more days to ship, which really helps.

Yes, here in Houston they are saying lows in the teens for 2 nights or so. Brrr!!! I sure hope the grid can hold out! DH got some gas for the generator just in case. We have an open house buffet on Christmas eve and a small house and we typically utilize the back yard. Not this year, I guess we will be packed in the house Well the good thing is people come and go all day so there's not usually too many here at once. And at least we just had covid so we should have antibodies for a bit.
My dishwasher Crap*ed out on Sunday. Right before Christmas! I hate doing dishes by hand, I don't know why but I just do. Trying to find a white dishwasher that's not a GE is apparently harder than you think. I live down the street from Lowe's and Home Depot and still had to order one because they didn't have any in store. It's supposed come tomorrow, fingers crossed. DH already took the old one out. Thank goodness he knows how to install one, too.
We are going to Kroger in the morning to get the rest of the groceries for the holiday, I just don't want to have to talk myself into going out Friday morning in the cold. We are supposed to get in the 60s before the arctic air gets here.
I didn't get any seeds from ebay but a couple of years ago they sent a t shirt and a wine cooler glass thing and something else, maybe stickers? I forget. Nothing I needed lol.
I hope everyone makes it though the cold ok, especially those expecting snow!
