Jelly it's my favorite time with kittens. Once they open their eyes and start exploring the world and start moving around they are just too adorable. And then comes the learning how to eat out of a dish and walking through the food and the water while they are doing it. The Christmas Kittens are almost out of that stage, thank heavens. And learning how to use a box and walking thru the poop and throwing it and the litter everywhere. Oh joy, so much fun to come.

When I got Lamington at ten weeks he used to stand in the food dish to eat. He was twice as big as his siblings, so he'd learnt all he needed to know about food dishes.

He's still fat and getting bigger.
But he's wobbling around now so he may slim down some. He gets lots of exercise with all the Aunties playing with him and loving on him.
I will try to get some new pics up by Thursday.

I had a cat named Patches. He was white with black Patches. I think I was in 7th grade when we got him.He was a rescue. He was too young to be without Mom so that gave him a unique perspective on things! He was epic! I could go on and on with the stories. As he got older, the late nights and girlfriends were crazy. He was neutered but didn't act like it. He actually got busted and was detained for 10 days! We had to pay a fine to get him out. I always wanted to write a book based on his life and at the end reveal he was a cat!
My point is he was soooo fat as a baby we called him Fatty. His real name was never really used. So he even had an alias! What a life he had.
He was awesome. Just wanted to share.

Jelly, I once met a great cat, white with black patches. He belonged to the rescue lady from whom I was adopting a kitten. He'd been a tom for 15 years before he got desexed but he still behaved the same after the op. He was a big boy, and fat, his face all scarred and half an ear missing. He was sitting on a garden table and I couldn't resist going up and patting him, saying, "You're a boodiful boy," etc etc. Anyway, cat lady gave me the kitten to inspect and I turned away...the tom jumped on my back, obviously deciding that he loved me as much as I did him. I started laughing, was holding the kitten so couldn't do anything, cat lady rushed over and had a difficult time pulling him off. He'd be long dead now but I've never forgotten him, so handsome, so funny. I ALWAYS want to adopt the white-with-black cats I see on adoption sites. The look just appeals to me and they seem quite rare.

Pics just didn't happen today.
I had apt showings today and I swear every nutcase in this part of the state showed up. I'm wiped out and just don't have the oomph to do pics. Tomorrow afternoon is supposed to be clear so pics should happen then.

Are you trying to tell us you have a life beyond cats??? Shame on you! Obviously you need to get more, because the ones you've got aren't getting the message across.

Yes, total shame on me. They were all lined up at the door when I got home demanding to know where the heck I had been all day and I am going to be in the doghouse for awhile over it. I need to break out the treat jar tonight to try to get them to stop giving me dirty looks.

Maybe he's too plump for the camera lens?

Ursa is growing like a weed and is still fat. He weighed in at just a pound this morning. He is getting lots of exercise being run round by the Aunties and it's hard to catch him holding still. I tried to take pics a few times and he is always a blur of motion. I will try to get some more where you can actually see what he looks like.

Once they get mobile it is tough. I have only a few non-blurry photos of my cat as a kitten. I'm glad he is doing so well and has aunties to play with. Mama cats need breaks.

Once they get mobile it is tough. I have only a few non-blurry photos of my cat as a kitten. Nearly all my kitten/cat pics are blurry. Either they're moving or putting a paw over the lens or if they pose I get over-excited by the prospect of a good pic and the camera shakes.

He's 5 weeks old today.
His body is black under that long silver hair, but his head, legs and tail are black with much shorter hair.
Mom is solid black with long hair. Who knows what dad was but Ursa sure turned out with an interesting coat.

It reminds me of a dark Siamese marking in reverse.
Siamese is a recessive gene in cats especially shows up with black momcats.
