I really preferred Charles Blake from the previous season. He had her measure and wouldn't allow any of her high handed nonsense. He was my favorite of all her beaus too. I liked him even better than Matthew.

Anyone here a House of Cards fan like me?
The new season was released on Netflix today. I watched one episode before work. Got off work at noon, and am now on Episode 5.
LOVE THIS SHOW!

I swear I'm not going to get anything done on eBay or around this house until I'm done watching this season. Actually--I HAVE gotten a full basket of mismatched socks tigether. So there's that

I was looking for something to binge watch over Christmas break. I thought about House Of Cards. Some of our family watch it and talk about it at family get togethers. But I was browsing Direct TV On Demand one day and on a whim started watching Homeland. I still have a few more seasons of that to finish. Maybe I'll watch House of Cards over the summer.

I was a diehard Homeland watcher the first couple of seasons. I gave up on it.
House of Cards is hard to start. The first 2 or 3 episodes is t the best--so I always say to get over that hump then it gets really good.

Downton Abbey fans alert.
There was a great article in next weeks TV guide and Julian Fellowes (the writer) mentioned that there may be a DA movie.
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<SPOILER>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
He also said that Edith gets a happy ending! There will be 3 weddings, one new baby and one on the way and a reconciliation between 2 long estranged enemies.

Yep, it's been obvious that Downton Abbey is moving toward tying up all the loose ends into pretty little bows. Not that there's anything wrong with that; ya gotta love a happy ending....

I read that a movie was in the works on the IMDB boards. Since many members are in the UK and have seen the entire season I didn't delve into it because I wanted no spoilers.

It was a nice ending. That's all I'll say since it shouldn't be over on the west coast yet.

Wasn't there though. Even Barrow was feeling the love. I always had sympathy for Barrow. Being gay during that time period, I'm sure he came by his bitterness honestly. I'm glad his story ended on a positive note.

Very good ending. Glad that Edith finally married her beau without any mama drama. And very pleased with Barrow's new position in DA.
Did your PBS station air the BAFTA special? Julian Ovenden's (Charles Blake) singing voice, oh my.

I didn't see all of the BAFTA special because I was in the kitchen making snacks. But I did catch the song. He has a very good voice.

Shouldn't that be "Down town Diddy"? Diddy really is a fan. One of the specials showed fan clips - it might have been those BAFTA awards - and he was one of the celebrity fans shown offering congratulations. So that made the above that much funnier. Thanks for sharing.

Oh Elly, I didn't know what to do with myself last night. I ended up watching a movie, Magic In The Moonlight, starring Colin Firth. It was amusing but not all that good.
I had never heard of it though it was written and directed by Woody Allen. Which goes to show that Woody is very over rated and his movies are not masterpieces.

I have that movie on the DVR! Along with The Railway Man. I hadn't seen (or heard of) either one, and they were both on one of the premium stations a few months. They showed Bridget Jones and The Single Man that week too. I'm not sure why it was Colin Firth week but he was popping up just about every night.

I watched an interesting movie last night. "A Little Chaos" is about two landscape gardeners who are designing the gardens of Versailles. It stars Kate Winslet as one of the gardeners, Alan Rickman as Louis XIV and Stanley Tucci as the king's brother, Duc d'Orleans.

With a cast like that how could I not watch?

Titus, I loathe Woody Allen films but I can see what others see in them. They're all so much the same, though, that I don't get why they call him a genius. More like a one-trick pony.

MissP, I detest Woody Allen and don't understand the all the hoopla about his films. Some have been pretty good. I've enjoyed Midnight In Paris, Sweet And Lowdown and Shadows And Fog. Other movies that have been praised to the heavens, such as Annie Hall, have been meh to me.

I will just chime in & say that I too am not a Woody Allen fan - at. all. I've never watched Downton Abbey either - but might be willing to give it a try. Is it on Netflix or Amazon Prime?
Sad/not sad (lol) to say - I just finished all 10 (yes 10) seasons of Stargate SG1 on Amzn & am geeky excited about the new release of Daredevil S2 on Netflix!

Some prior seasons should be available on Netflix. Seasons 1 to 5 are available to stream on Amazon free to Prime members.

Shophippy, I got seasons 1-5 of Downton Abbey at the library for my sister when she had to stay mostly off her feet last fall for medical reasons. She had never watched it either.

Finally saw The Theory of Everything, the film about Stephen Hawking. It was very good and Eddie Redmayne was wonderful as Hawking.
Tonight, on PBS, will be the first episodes of the new seasons of both Grantchester and Mr. Selfridge. While I don't particularly like Jeremy Piven I have enjoyed the previous seasons of Mr. Selfridge. And I believe the new season of Call The Midwife begins next Sunday. YAY!

I know there are other places for funny stuff, but I thought you Walking Dead fans would like this. I can so see my niece's brothers and her cousins doing this to her.

I think she stood up to it pretty well. She chose the cat and knew she needed a knife or a gun. But the mother participated! How mean is that? That'd really convince you!

I laughed out loud at that response when asked which pet to take. 'The cat, you idiot!' I'm sure she really does love the dog too but she was high, and well, the zombies were coming!

I love that she picked the cat, and I totally get it. I have a sweatshirt that says I Would Push You In Front of Zombies to Save My Cat.
