Yay for Hondas! I have had them ever since my divorce. Mine is 3 years old and doesn't have 6,000 miles on it yet. Hibernation is the key. If I live long enough to have to trade this one in to get an electric car, I would have to get a new breaker box. Mine has been on its last legs for 30 years.
From what I have read, Tesla batteries cost $20,000?

I have heard good things about Hyundai too. I am looking at their new this year Santa Cruz. Problem is that they are flying out the door as soon as they arrive at the dealership. Can't keep up with the demand but I am in no rush. www.hyundaiusa.com/us/en/vehicles/santa-cruzThat is gorgeous!

It is even better looking in person. It is just my size for a truck. I have been waiting forever for this type of truck.

That Santa Cruz is a really neat looking vehicle. Looks like an SUV with a pickup back end. Sort of a modern spin on an El Camino. I like it. Price isn't bad for new vehicle, either.
I am with you about waiting to get one. Not only to give it a year or two to work out any bugs, but for the price to normalize. I remember back when Chrysler came out with the PT Cruiser. It was so popular the dealers were charging $10,000 OVER list price because of the demand far outweighing the supply. Next year, everything was back to normal and after the thrill was gone, discounts to try to sell existing inventory.
I still love my Nissan Cube as much now as when I got it back in 2016 with 60,000 miles. It's getting close to 90,000 and other than regular maintenance, it's given me virtually no problems. My friend has a 2009 that's going strong and her sister has a 1997 Nissan Frontier pickup truck that's over 300,000 miles and the original starter is finally getting tired and slow starting.

]nbsp; Our car is a 1997 Subaru wagon that gets us there and gets us back - that's about all either of us require - we don't need the status symbol. I'll say, though, that Teslas have great pickup. Keep that Subaru as long as it runs! I have been so disappointed in mine! The new ones aren't like the old. First, I got a brand new 2020 Outback that I leased. Immediate problems within a month of having it. Entire touch screen had to be replaced, entire computer system (has a name but I don't remember), and it stranded me at the furniture store and needed a new fuel pump. I had that one for two years and it only had about 13K miles. I got an offer to trade it in and miraculously they had a new one in the 22 model year. I figured I just had a lemon bc I had heard such great things about Subarus. I got the 2022 back in October and just last week BAM, touch screen issues again. I am so frustrated and upset. You cannot control the radio or any of the air controls when the touch screen glitches. When this lease is up I am getting a Toyota Highlander or maybe a Hyundai Palisade. DH's had 3 Hyundai's in a row and we have had zero issues. Oh man, that's good to know. I hate cars with all of this computer crap, digital screens and the like. It's enough to keep me buying old cars forever (if I ever do buy another car). The older Subarus run forever, seriously. I was in the Subaru garage getting the 175,000 checkup on ours, and on of the guys at the front counter was on the phone. I heard him say "OK, how many miles do you have on it? 150,000? OK, you've got a lot of miles left on it, then..." I thought "that's nice to hear!" A Highlander or RAV4 maybe what we get if our car ever wears out - we don't put a lot of miles on it, it only has 191,000 when I last looked at it. All it needs is maintenance and periodic stuff that wears out replaced.

I don't care for a lot of extra stuff, either. My motto has always been, "The more you have with it, the more that can go wrong". It's especially bad now since Covid skyrocketed the price of vehicles both used and new and repairs.
Forgot to mention earlier, gas prices have stayed the same at most stations and saw 3 that actually dropped back to $4 gallon.

I couldn't live without our full-size SUV. We have always had one through the years. Cars are nice but mine sits in the garage basically unused because I drive the SUV most of the time. They are so convenient for picking up large items, just like the back of a small pickup. You will love using that truck, Kritter.
I like all the bells and whistles on vehicles, especially the large navigation screens. At this stage it's impossible for me to try to use a cell phone for directions, just too small. One thing that is a big plus for us "old" people here is that our Navigator has nice big captain-size seats and if you need to drive more than a few hours trip, you will do it in comfort and support, especially if you have a bad back and orthopedic problems.
What color do you want Kritter, or will you need to take whatever they have available?

The one in the pic is the one that I want. The Stone Blue with the gray interior. I will wait for that one.
There is one coming into the dealership that I am working with---the same dealership that had people waiting in line at 4:00 in the morning for the other cars that came in. They have a white one there now that I was going to test drive. The blue one is supposed to come in on 3/31. If it is meant to be, the truck will be there when I get there and it won't be at 4:00 AM.
LOLOL At my age waiting a year or two is not going to work for me. The dealership is charging the exact price on the window sticker plus taxes so there is no big upcharge going on at least not here.
The truck is built on their SUV frame so it is lower to the ground than a regular pickup so I won't need a stepladder to get in it. It is the perfect truck for me. Enough bed space to carry feral traps, mulch, and assorted yard statues that I cannot live without. I had a Chevy Silverado years ago and I have really missed having a pickup.

That's exactly what I look for in a car: how much back pain am I gonna have after a two-day road trip? We don't pick out a car until it has passed the "butt test" - it has to have really comfy seats. And for that, there's nothing better than an American-made luxury car. (Those freakin' Germans just wrap a board in leather and call it a seat!) I'm holding on to my small SUV from Lincoln; it has the cushiest seats ever. ❤️

Kia’s and Hyundais have had many issues including fires. They told people with certain models not to park them in their garage due to this. Hubby was asked to join the investigators who are doing Hyundai and Kia car fires but he didn’t want to because they would take up too much of their time. The fire issue recall only affects the Santa Fe and certain Tucson models, not the entire Hyundai line. It appears the Kia fire hazard is currently limited to only one model, the 2017 Niro Hybrid SUV. www.kbb.com/hyundai/recall/www.kbb.com/kia/recall/Honda and Toyota have also had multiple vehicle recalls. www.kbb.com/honda/recall/www.kbb.com/toyota/recall/Anyone remember the news stories of the cars that would suddenly accelerate on the freeway and couldn't be stopped by the drivers, resulting in multiple crashes? They were Toyota. Toyota blamed a "sticky accelerator and floor mats" for that issue, but was found in court of have covered up the real issue and hit with a $1.2 BILLION fine for it. abcnews.go.com/Blotter/toyota-pay-12b-hiding-deadly-unintended-acceleration/story?id=22972214Toyota also had airbag problems dating back to 2003: Toyota is part of significant recalls including Takata airbag inflators and other manufacturing or safety issues. The campaigns affect a wide range of vehicles across the auto maker’s lineup.
Approximately 4.5-million Toyota vehicles built between 2003 and 2016 including the Toyota 4Runner, Corolla, Corolla Matrix, Rav4, Sequoia, Sienna, Tundra, Yaris Hatchback, Yaris Sedan, Tundra, and Scion xB vehicles are being recalled because of safety issues. According to NHTSA, upon deployment, excessive internal pressure may cause the inflator to rupture, possibly resulting in metal fragments striking vehicle occupants.Honda has the same problem with Takata airbags: Honda’s biggest recall issue since 2000 has been with defective Takata-sourced airbag inflators that can injure or kill occupants with shrapnel in a deployment. Nearly 12 million Honda and Acura vehicles have been recalled in the campaign to replace Takata inflators with new units from other suppliers. Honda no longer equips its vehicles with airbag components sourced by Takata. The Honda recall includes the following models: 2001-12 Accords; 2001-11 Civics (all models); 2002-11 CR-V; 2011-15 CR-Z; 2003-11 Element; 2010-2014 FCX Clarity; 2007-14 Fit; 2010-14 Insight; 2002-04 Odyssey; 2003-13 Pilot; 2006-14 Ridgeline; 2010-11 Crosstour.Ford has had multiple recalls, including one pertaining to seat belts that might cause a fire in a crash. Then we have Volvo, which is supposedly one of the safer (if not safest) brands out there, and they have multiple recalls for detaching seat belts and side curtain airbags. www.kbb.com/ford/recall/www.kbb.com/volvo/recall/My point is not to dis any particular manufacturer, but to note that it doesn't hurt to research the safety record on the specific model car one is considering buying, and not assume the entire brand is defective. All brands have had recalls.

I love that we don't care about what we drive here. Cliff had a nice newish Sante Fe Sport when we met but it was totaled several years ago by a red light runner near his work. About the same time his dad in NY had to surrender his older convertible mustang due to health issues post stroke so Cliff paid to have it transported here and he drove that until I was ready to get rid of my 2012 Kia Soul and move into another newer used Kia Soul. He paid me blue blue value for it and has been driving it since. At the same time I bought a 2016 Kia Soul. Fast forward 3-4 Years and we're still driving the same cars with no plans to get newer ones (got mine paid off several months back) but that could change anytime for him. He's really hard on his Soul but it's still going strong.
When we met he really hated Souls but now he actually likes them a lot and always talk about the value you get for your money. Or at least that was the case, I haven't priced them lately. My next car will be another Soul. I absolutely love them. Gas mileage is good, easy to get in and out of and are perfect for all of the thrifting that I do. Cliff straps ladders to the roof of his and does all sorts of creative things to transport larger items when needed. The Mustang sits in the garage, I hate it when he drives it and I don't enjoy being in it. Not sure why. I'm just not comfortable in it and the older I get the more I hate getting in and out and cars that are lower to the ground.
Nice weather here today. Currently 75 but is supposed to get up to 84.

That truck is amazing!
My stupid ex was/is a new car freak and we could never afford what he HAD to buy.... Cadillacs, Lincolns, etc. My dad was a tool & die maker at GM, so he was happy.
Granted the cars looked great, but they were all junk, even when new. Constant break-downs. My last Mark VIII was beautiful but had a ton of problems. I traded it in on my first Honda, and have driven Hondas ever since.

I've had 3 Hondas. First car was a CRX then later two Honda Civics. First new car was a 2000 Honda Civic VIP package with keyless entry. I was so excited but it didn't have automatic windows... lol. For me, the Soul is every bit as great as the Hondas were.

We have a break in the rain here and the DH has hurried out for a bike ride. I'm going to orangetheory later so not riding (I'd ride today and go to OTF tomorrow but I'm training for a bunch of races and I do my intervals at OTF). jesmelric - managing an apartment complex can be pretty intense work - she may just be burnt out on it. Even managing the 10 unit hotel conversion I used to live in could be a real pain in the backside - my friend managed it and I lived in one of the rooms. Part of it was the 'clientele' - about half of them were problem children, the other half were mellow and quiet - the guy upstairs and I were the mellow and quiet ones, but there was always something, like plumbing problems, clogged toilets, etc., you couldn't go anywhere because someone had to be around to look after the place, etc. Big inventory clear-out going on - Posh died and there's no reviving it, they changed the search and its creating all kinds of problems. Anything not 'special' that has been hanging around for two years has to go - I want the basement back and this crap out of here - in my estimation, a hobby business should not be taking up my basement. Our car is a 1997 Subaru wagon that gets us there and gets us back - that's about all either of us require - we don't need the status symbol. I'll say, though, that Teslas have great pickup. Yes and I know part of the problem is she's become friends with so many in the small complex they tend to take advantage and expect things over what the manager would normally be doing. I can see why she'd be tired of it. I'm just concerned because neither is a great at budgeting and suddenly having to pay rent after a decade or so may become a challenge. But I tell myself they are grown, let it go.
Another beautiful day here, sheets and bed covers are on the line. DH washed the Falcon so we can take her out to the VV tomorrow, it will be another gorgeous day.
We went and got haircuts at Great Clips this morning, where we always go. It's been a few months, I was waiting for cases to come down then a bunch of Saturday stuff kept coming up. I got a lady that I've never had before, and she was so FAST! Like a checker at Aldi's lol. And I actually really like the haircut

When I was in high school, I was literally the only student with a pick-up truck (red Ford F-150, three-on-the-tree! I loved that truck! Got t-boned by a drunk driver ). I had very few friends until some department or another needed something moved or hauled.

You'll need the car, plus it's always over-stuffed with the backlog of stuff that you're sure you're gonna need at the other house.

Excellent day to be outside today. Hit the front yard with pruning the Crepe Myrtles and planting 5 of the Angel Trumpet cuttings that I had grabbed before the freeze in February. Did a few of the cuttings last year and they did so well that I tripled the amount of cuttings this year.
The plants do freeze back but new growth is already showing up on last years plants. I am going to have a forest of these things the way I am going.
Some of the cuttings will go in a plant sale maybe next weekend for donations to the foster kitten program. I bought several bags of the kitten chow that we use because I am afraid the cat food shortage is going to get worse and we need kitten chow.
I had some in my Chewy cart and went to check out yesterday and they were out of stock. I zipped over to Amazon and ordered it while I still could. If Chewy goes out of stock on something, that is the time for quick action.

This was my first car. My mom took off with one of her boyfriends when I was 11. I stayed with my dad, of course. He was so cool and he bought this for my first car. I flunked my first test for my driver's license since the darned thing was too long to do a 3 point turn.
But it was a total lemon, since I could only stop it one time and start it up again. The second time I would try to start it, it wouldn't turn over. So I had to call my dad to give it a jump.
It was fun to decorate it on senior day with Kleenex flowers, though.
Pink Cadillac convertible, and I now realize that it looked like a pimp wagon.

Almost as nice as a Jag but it is probably not as cranky or expensive to fix as a Jag. My blue Jag is going in as a trade in. It has been giving me some issues lately but being a 2005, I guess it is due. This was my first car. A 1965 Mustang convertible. It was my graduation from college reward. Good times!

My first car was a 1965 Buick LeSabre that I bought for $600 when I was in my late 20s. It was HUGE. I had to get rid of it because I lived in town and could never find anywhere long enough to park it. I did without a car for years (motorcycle and bicycle) but got the truck later on.
Just a regular rainy day here - cold wind. Here March is "In like a lion, out like a lion" lol, but the cherry blossoms are blooming, which is always an occasion here. They're bright against the lead coloured sky.
I was out running on the local trail yesterday evening - it was drizzling, and I was I was tired and hungry, and not feeling it, when I saw a guy running towards me - he was in a T shirt and shorts (It was in the upper 40s), wearing a neck gaitor, running barefoot, and he was dragging a danged car tire tied to his middle with a rope! I felt like kind of a wimp after that for bailing.

Yesterday DH gave me his cell phone and said he couldn't take it anymore, could I please try to take care of this for him. On his phone were about 20 calls all within a minute or two of each other from all different 11 digit numbers with the same prefix. He said he kept blocking the numbers but they would call from another similar number immediately after. I researched a few of the numbers online and couldn't find anything as they were international.
Today I took the phone to research the remaining numbers and then they started calling while I had the phone. I did the reject button on them and then blocked them one after the other, but I agreed that this can't go on. They called about 10 times, all different numbers but with the same international prefix within a short period. Some calls were only a few minutes apart. I also accidentally pressed call-back on one number but hung up immediately. I then logged onto the phone account online and went into the data usage section and saw that it was an Ireland number, but that too was a different base number that didn't match any numbers on the caller ID.
I called ATT and they told me there was nothing we could do. I told them the calls were coming from an international number and she said most likely not, as international was not activated on that cell number. She said it's a big scam now with rerouted international calls, the best thing to do was to change the phone number or it will keep going on and on, it's different than the famous car warranty lady. This is some scam to get $$ for every minute you are on the phone with them.
Now we need to go change all the online accounts that have that number registered. I haven't heard from the car warranty lady in so long, I thought that was strange and now this.

We had a gorgeous day here today! This time of year in this region you never know what you're going to get - will it be 70 or will we get a late season snowstorm? It was nice to have the windows down while driving today.
Gas at Costco today was $3.49 a gallon today! Still just a tad over $50 to fill up though. That was about 40 cents a gallon cheaper than the other stations nearby. I am lucky that I have a Costco less than 15 minutes from my house. It is the parking lot from you know where though - Costco and a Chick-fil-a in one lot. Since I hadn't had lunch I couldn't resist stopping for some nuggets.
I can finally cook again as well! We did end up having to get a new stove due to the mice I posted about before. We had a new stove delivered last Wednesday. I had ordered a "critter cord" cord protector on Amazon to help protect the cord just in case but of course of all Amazon orders to get lost and not show up, this was the one. I was able to cancel but ordering another will meaning moving the stove since it didn't arrive. But, it is SO nice to be able to cook again! I cook a lot - I shoot for 6 dinners at home a week so being without a stove was hard. We are not leftover lovers either, so I try to cook smaller portions where we either have no leftovers or just enough for me to take in my lunch.

It was a nice day to be outside here. I hung the Easter lights on the balcony, finished up the fake flower arrangements (less flying bugs I hope),swept off the patio, and cleaned the patio set. I decided to buy a small electric leaf blower, to use on the patio instead of sweeping. I ordered a Black & Decker from Home Depot. Sun Joe makes a cheaper model but reviews on multiple retail sites were complaining about issues with the plug. So B&D it is. I also ordered a long push broom, I figure I can use it to wash down the siding on the patio (desperately needs it). I was looking at washers with water tanks (not many) and realized it's a small area to clean and a push broom with a long handle would probably work just as well and cost a lot less I have some patio sheer curtains in my Amazon cart, and a long curtain tension rod that I just need to hit the "buy" button. I'm thinking of trying an oscilating fan first, though, to see if that keeps the bugs away when I'm outside on the balcony. I'll use the fan with or without the curtains, so I figure it's worth a try to see if the fan alone works, and I'm holding off on the bug curtains. I'm cheap
