My theory is that as long as I am trying to do good things and give back instead of take than maybe the powers that be will let me stay around a little longer.
Can't hurt to try, right?

She spends $500 for a cat then beats her when she's too loud? Or beats ANY animal for being "too loud"? I would like to talk to this person, just the once. That's all she would be able to tolerate once I'm through with her.

With Val's help, Angie and I took the step and formed an account to help the cats and dogs in our adjoining neighborhoods that do not qualify for services from out city's animal care program. Our program is titled Claus's Community Cats And Dogs. We want to provide services for spay/ neuter and adoption for community animals along with low cost spay/neuter and microchip for owned pets. We announced it on ND today and already have a guy that will set up and sponsor a website for us. We went with a DBA for now because of the startup expense of a 501(c)(3). Since we are just starting off, we want to have all available money going to help the animals. We did get a bank account set up and are having our first fundraiser over the 7/4 weekend. Thank you, val2525 , for offering to be our bookkeeper. Meet Asia, our first cat in the program. she will be spayed on Wednesday and up for adoption in 7 to 10 days.

If you start rescuing dog and puppies I am in trouble, lol. Glad Val could help, if you do get the 501 (and possibly before) set up there might be local/community grants that you would be eligible for to help with the expenses.

We have considered that but right now we are looking to determine if the community that this project will support are going to step up and participate with fostering and fund raising. If they don't feel the need and respond then maybe we were wrong in thinking they wanted the program.

Yep, dogs too although not as big an issue as the cats.
We will be allowing people to post their dogs for adoption/rehoming on the website. Main criteria is that they have to be spayed/neutered with rabies shots.

Fletcher is adorable. He's got "paws like cotton". I'll never forget the day a woman sitting near me in the vet's office was looking in the carrier at my Zoomer and said over and over, "paws like cotton". It became a family joke, repeated quite a bit. Fletcher is a dead-ringer for my Zoomer, same coloring, stripes, white neck/chest and white paws.

Dropped Asia and Fletcher off this morning at the spay/neuter clinic for their surgery, microchips, and all their vaccincations. Should be done around 1:00. Both were very silent on the ride there.
I am hoping one of the rescues that bring cats in will ask to take her in for their adoption program.

Fletcher and Asia are back and recovered back to their wide awake selves.
Asia pitched a feral fit when they tried to remove her from the carrier to knock her out. It was so bad that they had to transfer her to a trap to get anywhere near her.
Way to impress the rescues that were interested in you when I dropped you off, Asia. I am hesitating about taking her to the bake sale this weekend but she is fine now that she is back home.
Granted it is batshit crazy there during the clinic. They spay/neuter 50- 60 cats in 5 hours plus the vet sees outside injury/medical patients so it is fast moving. But still, Asia, Fletcher took it all in stride and he is a baby.

Toby didn't like it at that clinic. He hid when he got back home. But he was ok after his visits to Dr. Campbell's office.

The clinic is a madhouse. First time I have been there as Angie usually picks up the fosters the night before and then brings them back after surgery.
There were feral traps everywhere and numerous volunteers in each of the staging rooms. Every room has a task and then the cat is moved to the next room. First room is knocking them out, then they move to being shaved for surgery, then to the room for any additional add ons like vaccinations, micro chipping, nail trims, etc., then to surgery room, and finally recovery room.
Great organization for maximum surgeries being done.

Their system works great for surgeries and sedated procedures like dental cleanings. I'm not sure I want to take Twila or Simon there for just shots though. I don't like the idea of dropping them off in that chaos for just a shot. Twila would probably hide from me for a month after that I'll probably just take them to Dr Campbell. Given that she does a full-body exam, the office visit price is worth it.

If you ever want the booster shots for cats, Angie has some that we give to the fosters. Same thing as the vet uses. Anything but rabies.
Twila was spayed there but she was a clueles kitten then. Kittens seems to take it in stride.
Asia was fine last night when I fed her in the cat pen. I did pick them up pretty much just out of surgery so they sobered up in their own environment.

Twila is quite comfortable here now and is letting me pet her more and more. I'm not doing anything to freak her out (unless I absolutely have to) until I feel I have her complete trust. I will say, though, that she is no longer Little Miss WTF and has now moved into her role as Princess. Trixie is quite happy with her promotion to Queen but I still have to call her Princess sometimes because while she likes BEING queen, she thinks being called "queen" makes her sound old and over the hill

Thank you, chap! Very successful bake sale this weekend plus we got info on a feral cat colony with 3 adults (2 females) and 9 kittens that will be brought in for TNR. Lots of community support. I have been in touch with our volunteer web site builder and last night bought the clauscommunitycatsand dogs.com domain. So, in two weeks we have this all set up with a bank account, had a 3 day bake sale, got our web domain, and have 13 feral cats, two adults, and 4 kittens in the program. The Missy family is complaining that I am never around anymore in addition to dust bunnies flying into their water bowl.

Leaving in 45 minutes to take, Asia, on a road trip to meet with a foster from the Siamese Rescue. We are meeting up at a Dairy Queen so will have a Blizzard to celebrate. Have a good life, Asia, it will only get better from here.

Back from the road trip and the turtle pecan Blizzard is awesome. Thank goodness I don't have a Dairy Queen in my bubble. I really liked the Siamese Rescue foster lady and know that Asia is in good hands.
Now to get the bathroom cleaned up for the kittens that we are picking up this evening.

Four kittens and bringing the mom here instead of returning her to the location. The other cat that was supposed to come along with her for TNR got killed by a "homeless chick" according to the story I got. So, if there is a cat killer over at those apartments, I am not taking the momkat back there. Don't need a killed cat on my conscience. I already feel bad enough for the cat that got killed. I will find room for her somewhere until we can get her adopted.
