Twila is saying her goodbyes to Chanel and Terrell this afternoon as she is moving over to Val's house to see if she can cheer up Simon who is really missing Toby. She is a little whirlwind of fun which sounds like what Simon needs right now.
Fingers crossed that Twila likes me when she meets me today.
She will probably be shy at first because from experience, she does not like carriers. When she first comes out of the carrier, she will be zooming around at warp speed but will soon settle down. When she came back here from the other foster, she hid for a couple of hours but then settled right in. She loves treats.

She and Simon sniffed each other, then she figured out she could step out of the carrier. She then proceeded to slowly check out parts of the apartment until she discovered the bed and went under it. Simon seems to like her. He's been alternating between coming over to me to get petted and then going back in the bedroom and watching for Twila to come out. Neither of them hissed at each other. Trixie has been ignoring them both
LOL! As I was typing this, Twila came out of the bedroom, darted under the futon and Simon started chasing her so she went back into the bedroom. No hissing or posturing so I'm inclined to think it's Simon wanting to play.
She's a really pretty cat.
Oops. Another round of chasing thru the living room.
LOL That is great! Nothing like a game of chase to get acquainted. It sounds like Simon is perking up already. I didn't think she would hide for days but she is a brave girl to be sniffing around so soon.
I don't think "calm" is going to be in the cards for these two.
Twila is still a kitten and Simon is a teenager so calm is not one of their selling points.
Angie was supposed to join Val and I for Happy Hour yesterday before Twila's foster transfer but she got a call to pick up another bottle feeder so we now have 5 bottle feeders. Hopefully, the mom of the other 4 will welcome this new one to the buffet.
I think Simon and Twila are well on their way to becoming BFFs. She hasn't let me pet her yet but she's been checking me out and is more curious now than scared. She even hopped up on the raised cat bed by the desk earlier this morning and watched me work for a minute. Simon's favorite thing seems to be hiding in the cat carrier and jumping out at Twila when she walks by. She seems to like it when Simon sits on his favorite barstool where she can attack his tail. There's been no hissing or aggression between the two of them at all. It's like they both thought "hot damn, playtime!" when they met Trixie is being Trixie but I expected that. Trixie finally had to meet face to face with Twila last night, hissed at Twila, then spent the rest of the evening under the TV console with her back to all of us . Trixie is in the linen closet right now, Simon is up here on the desk with me, and Twila is probably under the bed.
Tabby's not the only one who wants to see pics of the new BFFs. So happy Twila and Simon hit it off so fast. I assume Trixie will just figure, "Meh, another cat" and carry on being Trixie.
Twila's foster mom was also foster mom to Trixie, Toby and Simon. So yeah, she's pretty awesome!
I have two raised cat beds, exactly alike except the color. One is at the left end of my L desk, and the other is a few feet away by my file cabinet, but still close to me and my desk. It appears Simon has claimed the one by the desk and Twila likes the other one. She even stayed still while I took the pic:
I haven't petted her yet, but she was checking out the desk and hanging around my feet earlier this morning.
I have to say that this turned out so much better than I had expected only because it hasn't even been 24 hours and there she is relaxing in a cat bed like she knew she was home.
I remember back when Angie first brought her to me with the caution "Be careful, she bites." For that little wild calico girl to come from the trailer park where she was trapped to her happy self now makes all the in between worth while. Give her time and she will be sitting on your bathroom counter nudging you for pets.
Ha. She started following me into the bathroom last night. This morning she was looking at the countertop but didn't yet have the nerve to jump. You can tell she wants to though
If I get up and move to another room, Simon usually follows me. Twila has started following Simon. If I go into the bedroom or the bathroom, I feel like a momma duck waddling along with her ducklings in tow

Wasn't Simon a little hissy spitter too when you got him?
Yes, Simon was a bit of a spit fire too but Twila was a true feral from the getgo.
Simon was more frightened and uneasy than being a true feral. He really didn't come into his sweet self until he went to your house. I remember when you were here playing with the other kittens and he stayed by himself across the room sleeping on a cardboard scratcher. I was so surprised (and glad) that you picked him because he was standoffish.
And then we have the toddler that was so busy playing that she figured that since she couldn't make it to the litter box, she would just lay there and let it rip.
That is a really big pee for such a little kitten.
Angie is going to use these clips when she posts these kits in Seattle so adopters can watch their kits grow up. Hope to get a lot of applications so kits are spoken for as soon as they are spayed/neutered.
Don't you just hate it when you are walking along and your legs fail to cooperate?
OMG! That poor yellow kitten with those legs. But have to give credit where credit is due to that little trouper. DH says the kitten walks better than he does! He is still non-weight-bearing and so frustrated with his leg fracture and inability to get around on his own two feet, can't even drag them like the little kitten does. But he's enjoyed watching the kitten videos I've been showing him, said to say thanks to you for posting them. He said we need a cat or dog here, I said yeah, another patient for me. Not happening until he is able to help around here.
