My package mailed on Saturday to Pennsylvania is apparently "experiencing delays but still on it's way" after it left here on Saturday at 10:50 P.M.

I have a $150 item that someone bought on Saturday 12/12. I mailed it on Saturday 12/12. The only scan is when I dropped it off at my PO. Ebay has an estimated delivery date for 12/16. Considering it was purchased on a Saturday and I didn't need to mail it until Monday, Wednesday would be pretty quick in normal times.
I had to request a call back from ebay today. It took 4 hours for them to call. I have a payment on hold from a GSP case that they closed in my favor on Saturday. Ebay refunded the buyer out of their funds, not mine. They didn't release the hold. So I requested the call so I could get my funds released. The CSR was nice and he was someone in the US. I was on the phone for 38 minutes with him. He had to get a supervisor and they still couldn't figure it out. First he tried to say I had a payout today. I explained that was my managed payments payout. Then he said I'd get the held money in my next payout. I told him not if they hold isn't lifted. He had no clue. He didn't know where to find held payments. I said you're clearly not a seller and he laughed. So at the end of the call he says give it a couple of days. If the funds are still held, call us back. Yeah, cause that's so easy. Before I hung up I told him how frustrated I was with the ebay shipping metrics. He told be they can't do anything about USPS delivery issues. I said I know, but they can do something about how they are treating sellers. He suggested I upgrade shipping on my items. I said I can't afford to overnight mail stuff. It would be nice if ebay cared just a little bit more about us sellers.

I guess we won't stress unless/until we have to start doling out refunds. At least we're all (or most of us) are in the same boat. What happens when you have a no returns item that a buyer wants to send back because the item didn't arrive in time for Christmas? Seems like Ebay would have sympathy for buyers like this. I didn't have to give any refunds when it was much worse, earlier this year & items were taking 2-3 weeks, so I'm not too worried about it. But I tend to have pretty understanding buyers. The only way a return would be forced is if they filed a SNAD (assuming no returns). I guess I'll deal with that if it happens, but since I don't claim it's going to arrive by Xmas, I don't really see someone opening a SNAD. I mean, obviously then can lie & do so, but that's incredibly rare for me.

I was thinking that eBay might give me a strike of some kind if the item never shows as being delivered. IDK for sure, but I don't think so. I know I've had some that I never did anything about.

I'm taking printouts of my package movement tomorrow to the post office to see if they can see anything further internally. They show no movement after the 5th and the 9th so have no idea where they are. PO once said that they had internal access to more info than we have on the USPS site. I just sold a sweater that weighed in at just under 1-lb for first class mail but upgraded it to Priority Mail, it was $2.30 more but there was no way I was sending it first class. It's a brand new red sweater with tags and I assume she wants it to wear for the Holidays or it's a gift. I'm thinking of extending my delivery time on all my listings for a few extra days until after the Holidays, but I already went to 3 days when Covid first hit. It's your time, but just so you know, none of mine in the last few days show anything except the pick up scan either. I think this is par for the course right now. They are focusing on moving the items, not taking the time to scan them. I know my PO has told me they do that at times. I think this is happening to everyone. Yet, pkgs are still being delivered in 7-8 days for me, much better than earlier this year. They just have less scans.

I had a guy from Colombia the other day & he was so sweet & so smart & easy to understand, it blew me away. He did have to get some assistance, but it was resolved pretty quickly. It was a pleasant surprise, as I didn't realize they were using South American reps. So much easier to understand! Just curious with your GSP issue, was it held forever before being sent? Earlier in the year they were taking 3-4 weeks AFTER the Erlanger scan, before shipping. So I had to take GSP off all my listings :-(. Not that I get a lot, but a couple every month & it would sure help.

"They are focusing on moving the items, not taking the time to scan them."
That sounds reasonable, but my local post office seems to be doing neither of those. I mailed a package at the PO that was scanned as accepted four days after I mailed it. The lines are close to 30 minutes long, so I'm not going to wait in line for a scan, but now it looks like I mailed this package late.
Another package was scanned as accepted 12 days ago, with no further scans.

Well as of today, I am in MP. And of course, someone wants to return a sweater. I wrote to ask her if it was okay with her to hold off sending it back until after Christmas, with the package mess.
It would come back FC, so that could very easily get lost.
I did make a sale last night and wrote to the buyer about shipping delays. She is in NY and they are supposed to get 24" of snow. So she understands.
It started to snow here in PA an hour ago.

Looks like some things are starting to get updated scans and delivered but still a ways to go. There's a few things that sold on the 5th that are still stuck and quite a few things that haven't been scanned from the 7th and 8th.

I've had packages drop out of the system for over a week at a time. Two items I shipped 12/1 just arrived at their destination yesterday, with over a week gap between scans.

I had one buyer not receive their package. It was due on the 10th.
Something I bought on Ebay that was shipped November 23rd, finally showed up today.

Has anyone noticed tracking numbers not showing up if you look at an item on a computer? I have some that say add tracking number, but if I click on that, I see the tracking number. I print all my labels through ebay. The tracking shows up fine on the mobile app. I guess its just another weird ebay glitch and it doesn't seem to be counting against me.

I have a priority package that sailed right through the Indy sort facility that causes me so many problems. It arrived in Orlando and was sent back to Indy! The buyer is in Florida. I looked on USPS to see if there was any sort of notation but there isn't. It will be interesting to see how much this bounces back and forth before it gets where it is going.
I had another priority claim approved today! The package has been in Indy since 11/28. I'm surprised USPS is approving the claims so quickly. I figure if/when the buyer opens a case I'm ready for it. If they wait and they finally get the item I'll have the money to cover 1st class refunds.

@snoopynmore Thanks for posting that. Looks like it only sat at GSP for a few days. Maybe I'll turn it back on, after the Holidays.
ETA: Nope, no problems at all with linking to tracking numbers off the Orders page. Not sure where you're doing it from.

There are numerous screens you can look at it from, it depends on your navigation. I always use the Orders screen & it is working fine there & has been working fine, as I use it daily.

Tracking on Ebay has been glitchy for me for a few weeks. I just refresh the package a few times and the button shows back up. A few days ago I decided to add priority only to all of my listing at a discount since I'd be shipping for free on most things anyway. Sales damn near stopped though. It picked up a tiny bit last night and one sale this morning. I should have taken Val up on the padded flate rate envelopes she offered. I think I have enough to get through several days if sales don't pick up. I'll switch back to first class on the 20th or so. This was in my informed delivery this morning

It's not just Ebay. All of my holiday stuff is delayed. Ebay needs to back us up. I had a return that has not showed up. Ebay asked me about it this morning, said it was delivered, even though tracking shows still in transit. So I responded with it has not shown up yet but they automatically opened a case. They refunded the buyer and said I won't be held accountable. But they held the money when it all started. So I still paid. It was 95.00.

So, ebay took the money from your account to repay the buyer even though the return was still in transit?
If they wanted to go in the refund direction they should have ponied up the $95 themselves.

Yes as far as I can tell they did not give me the 95.00 back. Maybe they will eventually. Ebay needs to put out a banner or something telling everyone about the shipping delays. They need to help us out. UPS and Fedex have similar delays, not just USPS.

Another reason I'm not selling during this season - eBay is simply refunding buyers and saying to work it out with the buyer, so the seller is forced to chase the buyer for payment (again). Most people are honest but in our current paranoid climate, too many probably think that the seller is pulling something on them and don't pony up. eBay goes on about 'taking ownership of the transaction' but in reality eBay is refusing to take ownership of their responsibility as a marketplace - we're already doing our part by fulfilling the shipping requirements.

Under announcements Ebay talks about shipping delays. But in their usual style really leaves it in the lap of the sellers. ( paraphrasing) If the seller shipped on time and the package is received after the case is closed it won't negatively effect the sellers account. Plus they will remove negative feedback. They're allowing up to 10 days.
As usual, no real help.
Added: interpretation: in the meantime stick it where the sun don't shine! Merry Christmas, Love, Ebay!

Our news the last few days has showed various locations at the USPS with so many packages and letters waiting to be processed it's beyond ridiculous. If it's any indication how the rest of the country is doing, we'll be lucky to get anything by spring. It's been a month since I mailed for my license sticker and am driving on expired plates. I'd better not get late fees tacked on my MasterCard bill, if I even get a new statement that's supposed to show up any day now or I will be making a not-so-nice phone call to protest.
DH sold something on ebay he dropped at the P.O. on the 9th that still hasn't shown any scan. He was proactive letting the buyer know, who seems fine with it for the time being.
No way I'm buying anything at this time until the backlog gets cleared up. I only have one package I shipped to a friend being held up as well as hers to me also delayed.

Desire- the packages my friend and I sent each other on Tuesday the 15th were both priority saying we were supposed to get them on the 18th until we came home yesterday to find new message in tracking saying:
December 18, 2020 In Transit, Arriving Late
Your package will arrive later than expected, but is still on its way. It is currently in transit to the next facility.
Translation to me is, "You'll get it, but we have no idea when".
UPDATE: I just checked tracking for my package going from OH to GA and update is it arrived at Cleveland P.O. hub, so it took 5 days to travel around 15 miles. At least I got a scan update.

Glad I changed all of my listings to priority mail only on my maid id, don't think I'll switch them back to first class for another or two. Might be losing some sales but that's okay, haven't had any under $200 sale days since the switch, I can live with that. I'm done worrying and checking tracking numbers, there isn't anything I can do about it but I do have a few Christmas stockings that sold early December and the tracking still hasn't updated since 12/8. It's getting a little ridiculous. I don't know how USPS can advertise mail will be delivered in time for Christmas when they're not moving packages that have been sitting for weeks. Pi$$es me off, especially with the looming rate hikes.
I have several personal packages that are in limbo. A few things are stocking stuffers, if they don't arrive in time it's no big deal. Just ordered some padded flate rate envelopes, it'll be interesting to see how long they take.

I wish people would stop buying right now, but my sales are really good.
I just received a note from Posh that an item that I shipped from that site is delayed.
And on eBay, I mailed an almost antique 95 year old book to a buyer. Ironically it is called "The Coming of the Christ Child". I am so tempted to make a semi-joke to the buyer that the Christ Child doesn't seem to be coming....but I shall refrain.
