Some PO's that are not usually open on Sundays, are this weekend & next, so those of you who care about getting it in the system a day early, just an FYI to check. Mine is open both Sundays but limited hours, 11-2 I think. They've done this in prior years too, so it has nothing to do with this year.

I went to a branch PO today thinking it would be an easy in / out. Its a small place. The line wrapped around the enitre lobby. I waited 10 minutes and the same 2 people were being helped the entire time. I left and went to FedEx which is nevery busy. There are 5 people in line ahead of me. The guy working wanted me to just leave my packages but I told him I needed a receipt. Got that done and went back to the PO. The woman at the PO was the same way and didn't even want to scan my packages after I waited in line. I have several things that I had scanned at the main PO a week ago and that is the only scan they have. I'm not sure if they are sitting there still or on a truck somewhere. On the up side I had a case finally close because an item got delivered. Then I had another case opened, but it was closed before I even saw it. It was a GSP item that was last scanned in KY on 10/28. I didn't even realize this had never been delivered. Ebay refunded her on their dime. But they put my money on hold and its still on hold even though the case closed 2 days ago.

I hate the line at our PO. Add in the good guys retired and we have two bickering women working the main counter. I am hoping they man the door to the back so I can hit the buzzer.

I had to get carrier pick-up this morning for several packages which include 2 large boxes. Sure hope my carrier has room in her little truck for them.
All of my outgoing stuff has been delivered okay....finally...and so far.
But I am still waiting for my stamp order to arrive that I paid for 2 weeks ago. You'd think that the PO could at least deliver their stamps!!!

That is what I filed on the 3 packages that I was watching the movement.
The FC one to the small town in Kentucky that I mailed last Monday was delivered this morning.
The Priority one that I mailed Friday to California is out for delivery this morning.
The Priority one that I mailed Saturday to PA. left my sorting center and is apparently on it's way into the chaos.
That is the main reason for upgrading the two to Priority that I did. I didn't want to lose the money if they were lost. It was like spending a couple of extra dollars for insurance and peace of mind. The two were in the $30-$40 range.
I definitely think Priority goes out the sorting center door faster than FC because I see the guys at my local post office sorting them into different bins after they scan them in at the counter so they arrive at the sort center with Priority in different bins than FC and Media Mail etc.. If packages were all going in equally they wouldn't be sorting them in different bins before they the the local post offices.

I'm not gonna worry about it, she could have purchased PM shipping if it was a concern to her. Both items I sold today (both the same brand of which I only had 2 of that brand sold less than 5 minutes apart to different people, so weird), are probably Holiday wear. We'll see what happens, FC s'posedly has til 12/18 to ship & get there on time.

I was struggling with upgrading to PM and I still am but going forward if any item is over $50 then I think I'll suck it up and do it. I just can't for all packages, it would get way too costly. Seems like the problem is well known and if buyers want their items in time then they should spring for PM themselves. I know that's lofty thinking, just hoping that somehow it all works out and they make it before Christmas.
I sent an email about the neutral FB I received on my little id either yesterday or Saturday. Forgot about it until this morning.... it's gone now.

My lofty thinking is that I don't want to have to refund big bucks on a lost First Class package more than getting it there before Christmas. It is like paying for insurance.

I guess another option to communication the situation with buyers to let them know their item might arrive late if send FC and see if priority is really necessary. Maybe offer a discount on priority if they do want to upgrade. Not sure... just brainstorming trying to find a workable solution without spending extra on priority mail. I'm sure that all of my sales are not time sensitive Christmas presents. I do care and I want everyone to get their packages on time but this is an extra expense that I shouldn't be fully responsible for because the PO is unable to correctly do what they're supposed to.

I have $5-$6.50 flat rate shipping on all my FC packages no matter where they are going so it is only $2 or so to upgrade the ones I want to upgrade. I figure my overcharges on some packages is in a slush fund that takes care of the few upgrades that I make.
Not trying to convince anybody because everybody has their own street points to factor in. I just do what I can to lower my stress points in the short term if I can.

That is one of the reasons that I like flat rate shipping for me. I can build up some "extra" funds for times like this when I want to protect my lower weight but higher priced items if I feel the need.

I'm so angry. My (ex)MIL present might not arrive in time. I ordered it on Dec 4th. They supposedly shipped it today but tracking shows nothing. I suspect they gave me a tracking number just to appease me. It wasn't on eBay.
On eBay, my daughter's present got 'stuck' for 4 days and I opened an investigation. Remarkably, it was delivered today. Everyone else is getting gift cards. I'm not risking anything else being mailed.

Items I've ordered to be delivered to my apt or mail box have arrived on time. The orders that have been seriously delayed were orders that were ship to store. I don't know if that was the stores issues or due to UPS/Fed Ex shipping caps.

I just checked and the 2 that are now late are both Media Mail. I wrote to both of the buyers and included the tracking.
I mailed a book to a PA location about 100 miles from me, it took 11 days to get there and is now sitting in their PO.

I have 6 late shipment dings at the moment. Prior to this mess I never had one. Oh well. I'm done worring about it. Today USPS approved a claim for one of my items that has been sitting in Indy since 11/26. I have another claim pending. I've got to see if I have more that are ready to file. I've got a bunch of 1st class stuff that is stuck and I'm going to be out of luck if those buyers start wanting refunds.

I was just talking to the custodian at the post office, she's worked for usps for many years and used to be a postal clerk but mixed it up several years ago. She talks low and with masks it's hard to hear/understand everything she was saying but it sounds like packages are not leaving Phoenix and haven't for sometime. Starting to lose hope that any of the packages I've mailed recently will make it, even more doubtful about the packages mailed from here on out. Going to mull around the idea of extending my handling time several days.

Hit an American Girl doll mother load with a few bags of clothes last month. I listed some of the more desirable outfits but never got around to the dolls. I'm glad that I didn't list them. AG doll people are crazy as it is. Thankfully most of the outfits sold before things started getting back up.

I'm not at 98% for the on time shipping. Its going to go lower because I have lots of stuff still out there that is going to be delivered outside of ebay's accepted delivery time. Yesterday I had a claim approved for something that had been sitting in Indy since 11/26. Last night it got scanned in CO. This is the 2nd time I have had that happen. I'm just going to keep listing and shipping and hoping for the best.

That's a good point to remember - this time of year there are a lot of sub carriers & sub carriers screw up everything! They often 'forget' or don't know to scan upon delivery. I had a sub carrier once who after 4 phone calls saying he was coming to do my pickup, finally showed up. I told him I had to watch him scan the pkgs, he says he doesn't know where his scanner is & do I want him to look for it. I say yes. He can't find it. I'm on the phone with my local PO while all this is happening & I relay it to the C/S rep at my PO, after a few beats, she says "I know where his scanner is". It's at some apartment he delivered to, miles from here! Yes, she could actually track his scanner LOL. When I say I always get a scan, I'm not messing around LOL. But your post reminded me last year at the holidays, I had a couple that were delivered with no delivery scans. I've never asked a buyer to mark it as delivered, but I have insisted that the PO with the sub carrier do it & they've always done it.

I guess we won't stress unless/until we have to start doling out refunds. At least we're all (or most of us) are in the same boat. What happens when you have a no returns item that a buyer wants to send back because the item didn't arrive in time for Christmas? Seems like Ebay would have sympathy for buyers like this.
