I've been searching all over and I can't find it. I thought it was lower left somewhere.

I feel like an idiot. I've been through every tab at the top and cannot find it.

I did it a while back. Did something change and I now have to do a removal request?

It's there, I just saw it the other day. Let me see if I can find it.

Well, you may be right. I saw it 2 days ago & now I can't find it. Which doesn't mean anything, I may just be missing it. Wait for other replies.

It's under "Profile Features" - select "Actions", then "Delete this Account". You'll be asked to enter your password.
(It is hidden in a pretty non-obvious spot!)

I don't have a "profile features". I have Profiles and under that is Summary, Account Setting, and Forum. I don't see features in any of those categories. I can change things where it asks for my password, but I'm not finding a delete.

There is no "actions" option over there when I click on my profile. Only options I have are summary, account settings and forum profile. I don't see a delete/close account on any of my tabs.
Yet it was there before because I closed my old account.

Ahrn, are you still seeing that? Today? I see what Dantes saw & it may be that admin changed it to require that you ask them. I see that's an option in SMF, for deletions to go thru admin. The delete option was there 2 days ago, I came across it by accident.

Why in the hell would they remove that and require someone to ask to be removed?
Sorry, that pisses me off.
I'm really hoping I'm just missing this button somewhere.

Did enough people close their accounts that it caught their attention and they took that option away?
I just shut mine down last weekend. I can't remember how I did it, but it was kind of simple for me to find. I think it was somewhere in my profile section.

I wonder if "someone" got nervous that so many people were leaving so the option was removed.

IDK that that's what happened, but a quick google search on SMF shows that this is an item that can be altered by admins, thereby requiring you contact them for a deletion.

I think someone should post that question on that forum. I think it would be interesting to see what the answer is.
For the record, members CAN delete their membership HERE. The mods and admins do NOT need to approve it. Go to profile at the top, then click on edit profile, and go to the settings tab. Delete membership will be at the bottom of the page.
Mods/admins have to delete posts here, but not membership. I don't think the post delete option can be changed, seems like it's a default of the platform.

What is the benefit of having one's account deleted over there? Can't you just abandon it and not go back?

Yes, it should be under Actions, but Actions is gone now. Apparently they don't like how many people have left.
I would go in and change all the personal information and anything else if you can't delete your accounts.

What is the benefit of having one's account deleted over there? Can't you just abandon it and not go back? Of course you can. The only thing deletion does is show you as a "Guest". That's what makes it so odd that anyone would make it an admin thing to delete your acct. All you have to do is abandon it. It's the same thing.

If I hadn't already deleted my account there, I would go in and change all the info.
I think it is a numbers thing with "someone" and the numbers were declining. I know it was fairly easy to find when I deleted my account which was earlier this week. Maybe within 24 hours of someone's post over there.

Yes - I could abandon. I just prefer to be officially out of groups I don't intend to participate in. Nothing personal against people there as there are many nice and helpful sellers. I like to have an option to remove myself and not have to ask permission. I'm an adult.

Just wanted to remind everyone that this discussion is public, as it's on The Chat Board.
And Dantes, I agree with you. It should be up to the individual to decide. I've belonged to many different online groups over the years and have never seen one revoke the members ability to delete themselves.

Well I changed my user name to a period.
I posted here because I figured it was a benign post and not meant to insult. I also don't want anyone thinking it's something super secret.

I debated moving this to the private area, but since we have members here who belong to ECS as well, there really isn't any reason to move it. It's perfectly acceptable topic for dual members to discuss. But ahrncitygal is right, it is on the PUBLIC board here. You post may be used against you in the court of public opinion.

I didn't mean you shouldn't have posted this here - that's perfectly fine. I just assumed* this was in the members-only area, then realized it wasn't. *And we all know what happens when you assume something...

First off IDGAF if anyone reads this from the other board and wants to act like a little pissy whine-baby and go back there with a screen shot.
But if you all remember initially when the forum was set up the original poster (op) could and had the option to either lock or delete any thread they started. After the first debacle/trainwreck/call it what you will that option was taken away.
I felt that was because many posters wanted to delete things they felt were in a "safe" place and read by friends and they were concerned that all of a sudden they would be exposed to anyone using a search engine. And I get that. While everyone should understand than NOTHING written on a computer is 100% private there was a layer of protection. And so....XX <<<----I am using this to denote those who shall not be named lest someone think I am slamming someone <and if you don't get that that was said with total sarcasm them please stop reading now> didn't want the board to look like it was dying. XX wanted any newcomers to see all kinds of registered posters. I mean it doesn't look good if over 50% of your people are now guests and not posting.
And to interject I think that was a REALLY POOPY thing to do because people had been led to believe they could edit ANYTHING at any time. And I also want to say that I know forums where you can never edit a post or thread on your own and that is totally fine if everyone knows that when they sign up.
So then after the second debacle I think people were just leaving and that doesn't look good in the numbers game so that option was taken away.
Whatever. I KNOW this will be searchable. Again IDGAF. If someone wants to misconstrue what I have said and twist these words then let em.
I would flat out message/ask XX but knowing how vague some people can be I doubt I'd get an answer.
And for the record I have NOTHING against 99.9% of the people on that board. NOTHING. The ones I didn't like...well I didn't like them long before all this sheite went down.
I may or may not continue to use that board. It is what it is I guess.
