Hmmm. I ordered 12" x 15" - those would be some big highlighters.

I like the other one with paper clips and some other office supply crap on it. ("Hey Jesse, I heard if we put a pop of color in the gallery picture, it stands out better." Jesse is an unpaid intern and just grabbed the closest things from the desk and his shirt from around his waist. )
I'm waiting for the water bottle and staple remover size boxes.

Fashion do the 12X15 have to go oversized package since they are over 12" on one side? Or do you use them for priority shipping?

I wish they would get some clear bags like the bread bags I buy at WM to put the item in before I put them in the polybag. I'd love a big order of those.

Does anyone know where you can even buy a roll of them? I like the ones they used to use in the grocery store/Walmart that were flat across & not in a little point at the bottom. They were much better for wrapping.

Ugh I don't have amazon prime and really can't spend $50 right now to get free shipping. So guess I'll pick up another box of bread bags to get me through until I can put in a bigger order. Will bookmark those for later. Thanks for the link, that's a great price.

Or if you really don't want to spend the money you don't have to. I've been doing this for 14 years and have never put in a plastic bag before packaging. Occasionally (like 1 in 100 transaction) double bag an item.

All the catalog stores send clothing in a clear bag before they put them in the poly mailer - I can't imagine sending a package with a top or skirt in it without a protective clear bag first, unless it is wrapped in tissue paper.
Liz - how do you keep the item from falling to the bottom of the mailer without the zip bag?

It is rare that I ever actually have anything that big, so I end up folding them down, but as long as the package isn't that thick, it can go as a large envelope, which is maximum 12x15. If it does go oversize package b/c of being too thick, it really isn't that much more (not like an oversize box where you have 2 or 3 of the measurements over 12". Anything that bulky is probably too heavy for first class anyway.

I only looked at the paperclip and highligher ones b/c those were the sizes that seemed closest to what I normally buy. Looking again, I see they also grabbed a toaster oven from the employee kitchen to demonstrate one of the boxes. I wonder if they'll get negs when people don't get their shirts and paperclips.

I just fold the shirt (or whatever) and slide it into the envelope. It will more than likely shift in shipment. RE: other retailers ship in plastic bags. Sure they do, but I am paying retail for new merchandise. I sell mostly used, discounted items. Like a clearance store. I'm not saying what I'm doing is what everyone should be doing, but it sure works very well for me. Would I like to send stuff with extra baggage and shipping and invoices and a card? Sure. But at the end of the day, I need to focus on why I ebay. To make money. So far, no complaints on the way I do business. Just food for thought for anyone out there reading this that has been on the fence.

Just food for thought for anyone out there reading this that has been on the fence. Yeah this has been on my mind lately! I have pretty much always put mine in the clear poly envelopes. I like the ones that are resealable but they are expensive. I've been thinking lately it's kinda silly cuz not sure it provides any more protection than just sticking the item in a poly mailer. A few months ago I received an item from a retailer that was so nicely wrapped in tissue and looked so nice when I opened it. So now I either use the clear bags or tissue depending on the item or if I'm in a hurry or not. What a pain the tissue paper is! I'm sure mine doesn't look nearly as nice as what I received that day either. I'm betting it just looks like a jumbled up mess by the time it gets delivered. But now I've started doing it and can't stop! It's all just added expenses that lately I'm thinking is pretty much useless lol. Maybe the tissue provides a tiny bit of extra cushioning/protection but I don't think the clear envelopes do at all. Threadflip used to send their stuff in thicker clear envelopes that were thick enough to actually help protect the items but I can't find those and no telling how much they cost!

I use an inner clear bag and tissue too. I like the presentation. I had gotten a box of 1,000 self sealing clears from Uline and when I wanted to reorder them, the rep insisted that they never carried that kind. I kept telling her that I had the box in my hands.
Now they sell the zip-closed kind at a much higher price. I ended up buying the zip-lock kind from Upak.
One of the reasons why I use a clear inner is because the polys that I buy always smell smokey, and I think this will protect the item. I do hang the smokeys on a QVC drying rack for a few weeks, to hopefully get rid of the smell.

Aww man I went to the store but forgot to get bags and down to just a couple. Dang it now I'll need to make another trip tomorrow UGH
I don't do my tissue fancy. I just fold it around the item and tape the end closed, kind of like wrapping a present. I do get emails now and then thanking me for the nice packaging so guess the buyers appreciate it. I do it more because of the insane humidity in the summers. I've gotten clothing in poly bags here that feel damp and I know it's from our humid weather, the tissue seems to help with that.

Most all of my recent eBay clothing purchases have come without any inner bag or tissue. They were fine. One lightweight sheer kimono top arrived in a poly bag with a crumple of tissue in the bottom. It looked like it was probably originally wrapped nicely because there was tape, ribbon, and a thank you seal sticker on the tissue wad. It must have worked its way out in transit. I have a bunch of the peel and stick cello bags that I like to use if I have something that fits. Something about the crinkle sound makes things seem newer to me. Bigger things go in a plain ziplock that I buy on Amazon, but when those run out, I'm going to switch to bigger cello bags, or maybe nothing at all. I order a lot of my clothes from Old Navy and Forever 21 and they are usually in thin bags like you'd get from a dry cleaner.

Since I have a ton of DVDs I figured I'd buy 100 of the bubble mailers. I got the 6.5x8.75 ones and they are absolutely PERFECT fit for DVDs. I have been using 6x9s and they are snug, but work just fine. These give a tiny bit more room and are a little bit shorter, so the fit is perfect.

Yep they work great for video games too. Love those bubble mailers. They are also just the right size for smaller clothing items that are too small for my bigger size tyveks but too big for my little bitty ones I put leotards etc in. I just stick them in the free bubble mailers now. Think I am going to order me another box of them, they are a great size. Maybe I'll order those on my buying ID store. Then I'll just have to figure out what to order with my $50 coupon on my main ID.
They raised the price .10 since last month. Wonder why they don't just make them $25 so it uses the whole coupon?

I doubt they would offer clear bags since it seems like the whole point of it being free to store keepers would be to get their name/logo out there to as many eyes as possible. I guess they could put the eBay logo on a clear bag, but it would be seen by only two sets of eyes - the buyer and the seller, who both already buy and sell on eBay. I'm still deciding on what to get with my $25 allotment for this quarter...

I wish they would offer boxes in the right sizes for books. They would work for a lot of things other than books.
I also would like to see everything priced in $25 increments. I don't want to have to pay any actual money for any of these eBay branded supplies, so they could give me fewer boxes or mailers and cut the price.

Of course they will play with the prices so that we either lose $$ or spend some of our own.... Why make it easier for us?

I always use a bag and tissue, it's an obsession or a compulsion hmmm not sure which one, maybe both LOL Also helps keep the item from shifting and wadding up in the bottom of the bag. Less wrinkles upon arrival. I received my last eBay purchase in a hot pink poly mailer. Had a HUGE rip on it. Fortunately the seller also used a decent thickness ziplock bag inside which did not rip. No damage to the clothing

I agree with the ziplock bag providing extra protection. Two years ago I was on a Chico's Traveler's buying spree. I was amazed how many sellers just stuffed the item into a flat rate env with no extra bag or tissue. That was even when the padded flat rate env's were cheaper. Not one seller used the padded.

I use tissue and flip-top clear bags that I get in bulk from Mallqui store (eBay). The tissue helps me wrap faster and more neatly - I put an appropriate sized square on top of the item and wrap the item around it, then slip into the flip-top bag. It also gives a bit of support.
Got several size bubble envelopes and some little 6 x 6 boxes from eBay - I did spend $11 but considering I would have to pay out of pocket for the stuff anyway, it's a bargain. I already have stickers to put over the box advertisement because they're mostly for Etsy stuff.

I used to use ziplocs back in the day but at some point switched to the WM bread bags. I prefer an extra layer of protection although I'm sure it would be fine without. They're cheap enough, less than $3 for 100, they last a month or two and I think it helps the item keep it's shape. I like the idea of those veggie bags but I don't have $50 to spend either. Might have to hit up a friend with a prime membership.
I'm not sure if this has been mentioned but the Ebay branded bubble mailers are heavier than the regular poly mailers so I've learned to be careful and only use them if it won't bump up to the next ounce unless the package is 4-8oz.

I wrap everything in tissue paper. I'm not sure what bread bags are, but I use the clear 1-gallon size baggies (the type that comes with the twist ties) from DD's Family Dollar store. There's 40 of them in a box for $1. I fold over the end and tape closed. I only use the clear bags on items going in a poly mailer. I just think it looks nice. dv I wish I could find some boxes that are about the size of a small flat rate box, or a PM DVD box, but plain brown, not PM.

Pretty sure those are the bread bags we're talking about. I stopped using tape, been using address labels that come free in the mail instead.
