Spring is coming and the wind chimes will be coming out.
How do you feel about them?

You blew it, Shirley. You mentioned cake. Cupcakes.
I like 'em as long as they're not overly loud. I like the ones made from the shell wafers - really light airy sound.

The little cheapy dollar store windchimes drive me ape crackers. I could listen to the heavy duty deep rich toned ones all day long though.
I prefer not to listen to any of them all.night.long though.

As long as they're the good quality, in tune, musical ones and not just clanky or tin-y soundings ones.

I'm like TLGB and Fashion, I like the musical tuned ones. To me they are soothing and relaxing. And I will admit to being the vote with more then a dozen. Luckily I'm out in the country and my neighbors also like them. But Val, there always has to be cake, and cupcakes, and cookies, and fudge, and candy, and ice cream, and brownies. Good grief, can you tell I'm on a diet.

Not to make this a sad thing but I have a weird thing for wind chimes. When my mom passed away she had a ton of them. So we hung them around in various spots. I had this one in my backyard in earshot of my bedroom. Every time it would chime I would think of her. It was nice and when I missed her and it would chime, it would kind of make me think she was with me.
Unfortunately, we lost it during Hurricane Sandy. I forgot to take it down. I still have a few of her smaller ones inside my house.
Just wanted to share. Thanks

I am the second vote for having more than a dozen and I don't live out in the country.
My backyard is very eclectic to entertain the outside cats. I have two 8' tall metal windmills and an abundance of yard art including a concrete deer family, cat stachoos (LOL), and plastic flamingos. Not to mention the 10'x20x'7' galvanized tin cat pen.
I did it my way!

Not a huge fan, I don't mind them if they make a light chiming noise but the ones with the metal or whatever tubes are horrid.

I've been kept awake by some. If they had an "off" switch for night they'd be o.k.

The only ones I can tolerate are the wood ones.

I enjoy hearing the tinkle, chime or clunk. But as I write this while sitting on my living room couch, I'm watching the cars & semi's whiz by on I-205.about 100 feet away. Noise doesn't really faze me anymore, lol.

I like the deep, melodic ones.
Kritter, I have "concrete deer family" envy - I've always wanted those! And lawn geese, with different outfits for every holiday, but DH is a big party pooper.

Kritter, I have "concrete deer family" envy - Pretty sure this is the first time in the history of the world that that ^^^^ sentence has been typed. I like the cute tinkly ones when I'm over at someone's house and happen to hear them. Don't think I'd ever want any though and if I had a neighbor whose chimes I could hear at night, it'd drive me crazy.

I love my deer family. I have the mom and dad sitting down and the baby standing up. I have had them about 12 years and I think I am going to have to touch their paint up a bit this year. I am definitely going to have to look for lawn geese. I try to add to my zoo every summer.

Great stuff. No deer or flamingos in my yard but I have a section with peacocks, lots of cat stachoos, and huge metal butterflies and bugs on the back fence by the garden. Plus the wind chimes and lots of bird feeders. I just cleaned out all my hummer feeders in anticipation for their arrival in March.
I just ordered a 6' metal wind spinner from Plow & Hearth that I am excited about. It's 2 ft across, with double spinners and has tiny solar lights on the blades, so at night it lights up and you can see the movement when it spins. Can't wait for it to get here.

If you find something you like on their site then check out QVC. They sell on there and have a big deal with them and the QVC prices can be much cheaper. I got the spinner for $40 less then on their website. They have cat stuff too. What I like about Plow & Hearth is the stuff is great quality and really lasts, which is important with the sun we get here.

I have a lot of trees in my backyard so the sun is not too intense in most of the yard.
I just remembered that I had planned to replace my St Francis this year. The resin one that I have has a crack and the cement one has the water bowl broken off. Looks like he is an amputee.
I was going to list tonight but looks like I will be shopping instead.

I'm looking for a St Francis too.
We cleaned and sealed the birdbath and ground water basin today but Francis is beyond salvage.
I do like to have one in the yard for luck, and it's always nice to see the birds all over it.

Okay - where are these concrete deer families? And what do they look like? Photos?
I love geese! What type are you dressing for holidays? So many questions.....
Photos! You cannot bring this stuff up without posting photos!

I didn't know they still made them! I see lots of old ones around here -- usually they're about as old as the people living in the house

I got the concrete deer family at Walmart at least 12 years ago and haven't seen them there since.
I think the "people of WalMart" scared them off. The deer would probably rather deal with the Charmin bears in the wild.

I think they didn't sell that well here. They never brought that many in from an outside vendor and I think I got my family on a markdown.
I was hoping they would come back because I would get another family.
I don't care that much about decoration inside my house. All my creativity goes to my yards.
