Have you seen the tacky "sexy" handmaid's tale halloween costumes? Talk about being dense and missing the point. Oy.

Yeah, I can't wait until next season. I have a feeling the tables will be turning and it will continue to be interesting. Castle Rock was good. But I was disappointed when it was all said and done.
Now that I've seen more Murphy Brown trailers, I'm not really excited. DH is disgusted with the new Magnum PI trailers. We probably won't watch.
I've got all my shows starting to record this week!
Recorded "New Amsterdam" and can't wait to start watching that this weekend.
I love The Voice and can't wait to see how this season goes.

I watched the first couple seasons of Wentworth and then lost interest or didn’t realize there were more seasons. I’m on day two of nonstop episodes.
I get annoyed with so many things in prison shows though. They aren’t allowed to have something like a pen in one episode but the next they are using knives to cook in the kitchen and are using knitting needles. Then they are doing weird contraband handoffs but later inmates are able to sneak into a room with a closed door off a corridor or access to a boiler room.

I need a show to watch. I swear I’m ADD about some of these shows. If a movie or show doesn’t grab my attention in the first ten minutes I dump it. DH is laughing at my viewing history.

Try Terror if you haven't already. I not so humbly consider myself a TV series connoisseur (just because I've seen them ALL, as for the past 11 years we watch 2 episodes of something every single night). And The Terror in in my top 3 easily.

I gave the new Magnum a fair shot - but I just can't get in to it. He just doesn't have the same on-screen charisma and I don't like a female Higgins. Oh well.
Murphy Brown has improved. The first couple of episodes, her scenes with Avery (her son) were hilarious but the scenes with the old crew were flat -jokes were lame and tired, and the timing was off. This past week, I think the original crew finally got into the groove. Jokes were funnier (either new writers or writers were reading fan posts on FB, LOL!) and timing was back on. And as usual, the scenes between Murphy and Avery were a hoot.

Avery was great, as was the Indian techie guy & there was another young actor who was good. DH & I kept shaking our heads at how bad the veterans were, how lame the jokes were, how forced & poorly delivered they were, but the young people were all great actors. DH kept recording them, but I quit watching. THey're still on the DVR, so thanks for posting this, as maybe I'll give them a shot. ETA: New Slash & Myles Kennedy CD out, it's fantastic!

The 10/25 episode - where she's trying to book a whistleblower without the other networks finding out - was really good. The timing is good, jokes are more generic political and not Trump bashing, and it's funny. I almost gave up on it but decided to go another episode or two. The scenes with Avery and the IT guy were always good, so my thought was the old crew wasn't comfortable with each other yet. Either they got new writers, or read the posts on the show's FB page, because the humor week before last was more like the old show. Zingers at everyone. I haven't watched last week's show yet. ETA. Just watched the latest episode. Avery steals the show. He's really good.

I didn't even make it through the 1st new Murphy Brown, and that was one of our favorite shows. Maybe I'll have to try it again.

For anyone looking for a new streaming channel - check out Acorn. Brit and Aussie programming. You can get a 7 day free trial to check it out. I just finished watching The Heart Guy (called Doctor Doctor in Australia) and it's good. Good eye candy too Next up is Queens of Mystery, about a detective and her three crime/mystery writing aunts. Acorn is also the only place you can currently get Season 20 & 21 of Midsomer Murders. Regular monthly pricing is only $5.99.

val2525, I tried Acorn but there were too many missing episodes of series. And, to be honest, I don't have much interest in Aussie, Welsh or Irish series. I subscribe to Brit Box which has lots of English series. I'm currently watching The Jury.

I'd watch Irish or Welsh series, but only in the Irish or Welsh language. I wouldn't understand it, but I'd sit there and be mesmerised the whole time

Queens of Mystery is really good. The voice over sounds like Emma Thompson (but it's not). The characters are a hoot, especially Mattie's boss (Mattie is the detective).
Tutus, Acorn has Brit shows too. I think Acorn has more shows than Brit Box. I need to find a streaming service that offers Canadian shows.

Thanks for the link! I have several of those streaming platforms so I'll check it out. I canceled my Prime membership when the free trial was up, I only used it to watch Bosch (which I won't need to watch again until the new season is out, LOL).

I know Acorn has Brit shows. That's why I signed up but the missing episodes of series I was watching drove me nuts. So I quit. Brit Box has many of the series I've wanted to watch. So far I've watched Cranford, Jonathan Creek, Silk and the last season of Lark Rise To Candleford. Now I'm watching The Jury.

I just discovered Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries on Acorn TV. Great show! It's based on a series of mystery books with the same character, Miss Fisher. Takes place in the 1920s in Melbourne Australia. The costumes and sets are divine. I'd kill for some of her shoes. The acting is top notch as well.

Another good one to watch, especially if you are a fan of the various NCIS shows, or the old CSI shows. Murdoch Mysteries. It's on Acorn, Amazon Prime, Netflix and Hulu.
It's a period piece, in Toronto in 1896-ish and forward. Obviously police investigation techniques are in their infancy, but Murdoch and crew figure out rough drafts of much of what police use now. One episode, Murdoch made a rough sonar machine, next episode he experimented with an early wire tap apparatus. Then he had a picture telegraphed to him like a rough fax. Constable George got an idea to make a game about murder investigations (Clue!) but Murdoch told him no one would buy it. It's like a Victorian MacGyver. Plus many of the famous names of the time pop up in the show. Arthur Conan Doyle, Nikola Tesla, HG Wells, etc. One of the Arthur Conan Doyle episodes was a hoot - the chief constable gave him the idea for Hound of the Baskervilles. The characters are entertaining and the writing is excellent. If you pay attention and have a decent knowledge of history/literature, some episodes are downright funny. Has 15 seasons so far and still filming.

If you like somewhat dark shows, I highly recommend MindHunter on Netflix. It is based upon a true story/characters, and it follows the establishment of the behavioral science unit of the FBI. There are two seasons so far. The storylines they use are based upon real serial killers. Like I said, dark but very good.

I canceled Netflix after I watched the shows I wanted. I'll rejoin when the new season of The Crown is out. It's supposed to be early November.
Mindhunters sounds good, I'll be on the lookout when I rejoin. I watched Stranger Things but lost interest after the 2nd season.
One of the PBS stations aired Murdoch Mysteries years ago. I definitely remember seeing the one with Tesla.

Tesla has been in 3 episodes so far. Last night Henry Ford popped up in an episode. Thomas Alva Edison has been in several episodes (he's a jerk). Alexander Graham Bell has been in at least two episodes so far. And Jack London. A very young Winston Churchill is on one episode. Episode I watched tonight had William Shatner playing Mark Twain. He did a pretty good job. My fave is when Arthur Conan Doyle pops in. He's a hoot. We probably think our lifetime had the most inventions what with Gates and Jobs etc. Not so. Watching this show I realize that the groundwork for much of the gadgets we use daily was laid over a hundred years ago. Our generation just refined it and made it commercially viable and affordable. It's a history lesson every episode. titus730, if you watched on PBS "years ago", then you haven't seen the latest episodes. It has 12 seasons and they're still filming the show.

"Women Who Kill" on cbs.com (subscription plan). It's by Mark Cherry, who created Desperate Housewives. It's entertaining and absolutely brilliant. Only 10 episodes in season 1. Says there will be a Season 2, but it's going to have to be totally different since he wrapped up all the storylines for Season 1 in the season finale.

I discovered "Girlfriend" on Acorn. If you like Grace and Frankie, you may like Girlfriend. Also about women of a "certain age".
I also binge watched Goliath, season one last night on Prime. Billy Bob Thornton is a much better actor than I ever gave him credit for. Good show, season three just started.

I'm currently obsessed with 90-day Fiance. I'm not sure why LOL. On season 2, one of the guys had an eBay business for his income. When he and his fiance would go out, he would get a Cha-Ching on the phone and he would check it. His fiance got pissed every time and told him NO PHONES when they were together. LOL
