If one knows they're moving anyway, one can get away with illegal pets for awhile or maybe even 6 years. Just sayin.
(I spent my money on tnr'ing their ferals and finding homes for the strays dumped by their tenants. They can talk to me about pet rent when they start charging rent per person.)

The whole concept of pet rent pizzes me off. I pay a pet deposit and a non-refundable pet fee, both of which I understand the need for and I'm good with. But pet RENT? WTF is my pet getting for his rent? He doesn't use the workout room, the pool, the business center, or park in the parking lot. I pay the utilities, the cat doesn't flush the toilet or use the shower so just what is the cost to the apartment??? Zilch. It's a @@%# money grab. Yeah, don't get me started on pet rent. So far I've managed to avoid it, but if I move out of state, I may be in temporary housing for a short term and housekeeping will rat you out to the front desk.

Pet rent is insane.
If we allow a tenant to have a pet they pay a deposit to be used to offset any damages. But charging rent for a pet is nuts, and possibly illegal in some areas.

I wish.
Just looked at one complex online, they want $50/mo per pet, pet rent. I think that's the highest I've seen so far.

I've never heard of pet rent, that's silly. 5 pets in an apartment would cause less damage than say 3 young children.

Don't try to rent in Phoenix, Bliss. It's rampant there. More so than here, although it's starting to catch on here too.

Just another money grab. Guess they will start charging per kid next. I'd rather live somewhere with a bunch of pets as neighbors than kids. I know - mean. I like kids, I just start to get annoyed after a while when parents ignore them for too long.

I didn't know that, I used to rent but it's been awhile and I never rented with pets.

I like kids, I just start to get annoyed after a while when parents ignore them for too long. I don't like kids so I definitely would rather live with pets around than kids. Definitely mean and I own it. Tango came in the bathroom tonight when I was taking a bath and washing my hair. Just sat there and watched with a few comments here and there. I think she was telling me what jerks her former owners were. I told her that I had already figured that out on the way over to pick her up last Friday.

She was tonight.
Not a loud obnoxious talker. Just a quiet conversation about what the Hell was going on in her life.

Ah ha. In some states, the pet rent came about because state statute limits the amount a landlord can charge for security deposits, damage deposits, and non-refundable fees. So if a state says the max you can charge for damage is equal to one months rent, landlord can only charge that and it has to be clearly stated what damage it covers (tenant vs pet). And non-refundable cleaning fees were capped as well. Since those states had no restrictions on the rent itself, pet rent would be charged as a way to collect $ in advance for possible damage exceeding the allowed deposits/fees.
After a while, it caught on in other areas and is basically a money grab. The complexes will tell you it's to cover pet services like dog walk areas, doggie poop bags, and/or maintenance cleaning up after the pets. Which of course is bogus in the case of indoor cats.
(I was curious so I googled it.)

I've about had my fill of kids in the stores this summer, the little terrorists need to go back to school. Not kidding everywhere I went yesterday there was a kid bouncing a ball non-stop in a store right by me... even in the middle of the busy grocery store self check out at Fry's.... a dad was playing ball with his school age kid... really? I paid for my stuff as quickly as possible hoping to not get hit by the ball that was flying around.

Used to pizz me off that I was paying the same for a one bedroom apt. as a couple with two incomes, using two parking spaces, 2x the water, 2 pool memberships, most likely cooking more so more gas and running the dishwasher daily, making more noise, etc. And don't even get me started on destructiveness/noise of kids vs. destructiveness of cute little furries who sleep 16 hours a day.

I'd totally forgot about summer thrifting and the kids. I'm almost afraid to brave the bins now. Maybe I'll go at night.

I can see now why it started, but I still think it's ridiculous and a sure way to turn away potential tenants.

When I went to feed Tango and Sabrina this morning, Tango came over for pets and a short conversation. I think she was asking me why Sabrina was such a bitch.
I seriously doubt that Sabrina will ever integrate with the others but she definitely loves me.

Now that I know she's a talker I wonder more than ever how those nutjobs could give her up.
Or maybe she didn't talk to them, because they were nutjobs.

I just don't know how they can sleep at night after giving these two up to certain death from what they were told when they signed the papers. I only have major bad thoughts for them.
She has a soft little voice.
Have some cute pics of the some of my other guys for later after I take some ebay pics.

Maybe I should change tango's name to Gabby or Chatty. She is a major talker.
This morning when I was getting ready to do get my blood work done, she sat in the bathroom and just chatted away. No idea if she was complaining about what a bitch Sabrina is or how happy she has been since I picked her up a week ago. I just keep telling her "I know, I know."
Last night when I was laying on the couch reading, she jumped right up beside me and proceeded to lay down right on top of the open book. No reading, how about petting.

Right, they had allergies that just started when they moved to San Antonio.
Had the cats for 7 years in Nebraska with no allergies.
They need to get their happy allergy butts back to Nebraska.

Looking at my scratched decolletage, caused by my cat climbing on me, I'm thinking I could use a declawed chatty cat around here. My cats are chatting less as they get older. I'm hoping that increasing crankiness will turn that around.

Tanji chats a bit when he is in the mood or has something really important to tell me. The others keep their thought to themselves.
Tango sat outside my door last night for 5 minutes telling me how rude I was to not allow her in my bedroom.

Other than hissing at Sabrina (which I totally get), how is Tango with the rest of the crew?

Sabrina hisses at Tango and I am sure she starts any confrontation.
Tango pretty much sits and watches the other cats when they go into the foster bedroom. I think she will be OK with them but is overwhelmed by their numbers for now.
Although I hate the previous owners with every fiber in my being for what they did, Tango was a loved cat at one time. She is so affectionate and wants to be with me, next to me, on top of me whenever she can. Last night she stayed next to me the whole time I was reading with them. Sabrina was totally shut out so I need to spend some time with her today.
