Mid 80's today, tomorrow and Tuesday here. That's 15-20 degrees higher than usual for this time of year, according to one of the local meterologists. Sun is out in full force already. Should be a nice day to fix up the patio I put two big rugs out by the dumpster last night, 4'x6' and 5'5" x 7'5", matching pattern. Plus a shelving unit that was just too big for my apartment, no matter where I put it. I see this morning they're gone. Hope they found a good home I may have two more shelving units to put out tonight, I haven't decided yet though. They might go on the patio instead. They're powder coated metal so they can go outdoors. Guess I better get off the computer and go put the beef barbacoa in the slow cooker, since it takes 8-10 hours to cook and I'd like to have some for dinner

What a magnificent 16-pointer. We only get to see the doe, many of them here in our backyard, never the bucks. We know they're around as we see the little fawns with their mothers quite often. Waiting for the day to see something like that walk through my backyard.
It's only 35 degrees here, but it's bright and sunny so it feels a lot warmer. The sun flooding through the windows feels good.

Desire Balls to the wall on the weeds this morning. So much easier with that Roundup sprayer. I used the whole gallon and will mix some more. Thank goodness batteries are replaceable.

Kritter - I actually envy you with your hand on the trigger, it's still way too cold here to start Roundup. Counting the days. Try not to leave the container that has the battery wand out in the rain. One of my containers got rusted screws on it and I think water got into the battery compartment even though it's sealed very well. Everything was corroded in there. I always used to leave the containers out on the deck, but after that, I now bring them in. Some summers here we have rain every other day even if for only a few hours or just at night.

The beef barbacoa is smelling REALLY good. I'm drooling.
OK, it's time to get back to the patio.

Hmmm, never even thought that beef had meaty cheeks. Walmart has those?

It's rainy and windy here. Rain is predicted every day through the week save for Saturday when I do the Hot Chocolate Run 10k...when it's predicted to snow. Then we get a partly cloudy day on Sunday, then back to rain for the foreseeable future. Maybe we'll all luck out and the weekend days will get switched and we'll have partly cloudy on Saturday and can be at home on Sunday drinking coffee and watching the snow fall. There's nothing to do out in the yard at this point since it's all native flora but there's grot and gribble all over the roof, deck and patio from the wind. We have some little primroses peering out, though - I hope they'll be OK if it snows. The biggest chore is cleaning out the house - we've taken hundreds of books to the Goodwill, which has their own bookstore (mostly technical books and history), and I've got a pile of miscellany plus my stores clean-out to go to the Value Village on Tuesday (senior day). We went to Goodwill today (50% off tag day) to look for some speakers for a A/V system - the DH found exactly what he needed which was incredible - I found four items in the entire store. The place was trashed and there was so much stuff crammed onto the racks that I could barely get my fingers in - all just blah stuff and priced at 9.99. If they lowered their prices they might be able to move some of this stuff but no, they just keep cranking them up.

Friends of mine in ABQ make it with goat meat. I used beef brisket chunks because they're easier to stuff into my slow cooker. It came out really tender but the flavor was just average. I'll try a different recipe next time. It's ok though since I'll use it for tacos and enchiladas. Next recipe I want to hunt down is a good one for carne adovada. LOL! Spell check kept correcting adovada to avocado, asada, etc.

You can easily make it yourself (tons of recipes on the internet) with any cheaper cut of beef (you don't want to use lean beef). You can also substitute pork or chicken, although obviously the taste will be slightly different.

Heads up on Rakuten and Walmart. There are a lot of excluded categories (including grocery) on Walmart. In my case, for what I buy, I come out better getting SW Rapid Reward points from my WM purchases. I was happy to see that Rakuten gives points for Kohls purchases.

I also use BeFrugal because sometimes they have better cash back than Rakuten. When I go to a website both options pop up on my computer so I can click which of them has the better cash back offer.

Hello everyone It seems spring has sprung here in Houston. My yard is full of weeds and clover, the trees are leafing out, highs in the 80s with the humidity creeping back. I sure hope we get some more cool weather before all is said and done. Saturday I did a bunch of yard work; cleaning up all the dead stuff from the freeze in January. It's pretty much starting to come back already, but the dead foliage was bothering me because it's so ugly.
Yesterday we did the Bins. They were turning them much more frequently than usual. We're usually there about 4 hours and they may do 2 to 3 rows while we are there. I think there's about 9 or 10 all together, plus along the back wall. Yesterday they were turning them every 30 minutes or so. It was making it really chaotic. And they were particularly yell-ish "GET BEHIND THE YELLOW LINE!!" "DID I SAY GO?? GET BACK!!" Etc. Kids crying, very noisy. I try to tune it all out and dig, dig, dig. I got 50 lbs of clothes, so kind of a lot. Oh and a tired back
Barbacoa is big here, I don't care for it but DH cooks it on the pit occasionally to make himself some tacos.
Chap hope the house cleaning is going well. I reduced my books some years ago, but somehow I still keep accumulating I am better though about reading them and then passing them on. Although I still have my "keepers".

jesmelric - can't wait to see what you found at the bins - that's a lot of clothes! If I didn't have a Kindle, books would be like snowdrifts in this house.

I have a library card and every time I cull down my "library", the shelves fill up again.
Came about 2 feet from hitting a deer at 5am this morning. Road was clear, then there it was. Hit the brakes and didn't say, "Oh, deer". There was another one about to follow that wisely stayed off to the side so could have been a "twofer".
Hired friend of DH's for 2 days at work. He stars Wed. so I have my Wed. and Thur. off again. Looking forward to that immensely. Hope third time's the charm and he works out and sticks around for awhile.

If I didn't have a Kindle, books would be like snowdrifts in this house. Do you have to have a membership with a Kindle? I don't think so. The DH (who gave me the Kindle for my birthday some time back) did accompany the device with an Amazon Unlimited membership so I could check out as many books as I liked for free - after his six month gift lapsed I just kept it active. It's 9.95/month and I think it's totally worth it - I can read three or four books in a week if I get going, more if I'm traveling, and it was getting ridiculous with all of these books from Thriftbooks, etc. Plus with the Kindle you can make the font size to your liking. I read cheap paperbacks due to finances, and the print is always so danged small.
But honestly, I convert other book files into Kindle file and just load them onto my Kindle, also, so I don't think you need any kind of membership, it's just an option. I totally suggest a Kindle if you like to read and don't have one and you can't get the book at your library.

I check out many kindle books online from my library. I also borrowed many for free when I had Prime. I get a daily email from www.bookbub.com with cheap and/or free books, or you can go to their website and browse. Libby is an app to find books to borrow as well. I don’t pay for any memberships (aside from when I had Prime) and rarely buy a Kindle book unless it’s something I really want and can’t find it elsewhere.

Bath & Body Works has their gel and foam hand soaps on sale for $3.95 today. It's also the last day to use YESTOSALE to get $10 off a $30 order (you have to be a BBW rewards member to use the coupon). Even better, you can use the $10 off coupon on the sale priced soaps. Life is good. /PSA

Thanks for the heads-up, Val! I stocked up on my usual favorites and chose some new ones to try. At $3.95, I'm willing to take a flyer on anything that sounds good! And the $10 off covers their shipping charge with a bit to spare.

I lucked out - the scents I wanted to try were available for pickup at one of the local stores so I didn't have to pay shipping.
I just wish they'd offer more scents in the body wash and body lotion. I bought the Golden Berry Mistletoe on Christmas clearance and I like the gel/lotion.
