Another week already! Lol. Cold and gray and windy here. We have VV today, I have my last two 1/2 off coupons for this weekend and next. DH is taking a pre-thrift nap lol.
Well I ended up calling 911 Saturday morning at 3 am when the neighbor man was out screaming again. It amounted to exactly nothing. They came out, he was still wandering the streets, they left. So I got the mom's phone number from another neighbor and texted her and asked if we could talk about what is going on with him. She did call and we talked for about an hour. She changed things up a bit. About 10 years ago she told me that he'd been misdiagnosed with autism and that he actually had schizophrenia and that he'd been on the wrong meds the whole time and it made him worse. Yesterday she said: No psychiatrist we have taken him to is willing to diagnose him with schizophrenia. And I said "wait, you told me years ago he had it and was misdiagnosed with autism". She completely glossed over that. She is saying he has autism, intellectual disabilities and severe ocd, that he has a "complex diagnosis". She also said he had a paradoxical response to most of the meds he's been on. At the beginning of the call she acted surprised that myself and other neighbors are bothered by it. She insisted they were SLEEPING THROUGH IT! WTF?? But at the end of the call she said "he is disturbing the peace of the neighborhood". So they of course had to be aware of it. I told her we have to get up at 4 am and it's wrenching us out of sleep (it's sudden and loud) at 3 am and good luck getting back to sleep. And that it scares the small children of other neighbors. I mean to her, that's her son. To kids it's a scary grown man.
Bottom line they are trying to get him into some kind of home/facility. Apparently it's not an easy task in TX and I get that. Also she sounded extremely picky about the rooms, the food, all kinds of stuff. I get that, it's her kid. But I did tell her that when we put mom in a nursing home we realized it's never easy to put someone you love in a facility. But when it has to be done it's difficult and there were never be a perfect situation and sometimes you have to go with what's acceptable. She's said they've even contemplated moving out of state to get better care for him. He gets disability and other benefits and they cover caretakers. So in the meantime they're trying to get someone to stay overnight to keep him inside. I really do feel for them, but they've made a choice to keep dealing with it. In fact she said something along the lines of it being overwhelming so you do nothing.
But she's now aware it's an ongoing concern for the neighbors and someone (she probably guessed me) called the police. Maybe that's the push needed to get them to address it. And my neighbor with the little kids said that was also her main goal, to make them aware. So mission accomplished. And she was very grateful that I called and let her know. And guess who wasn't out last night? Lol, it was great to get a good night's sleep!

jesmelric - that's such a crazy and intolerable situation! When I lived in town there was a couple one door down who used to loudy fight - it was always late. The woman had a high screechy voice and you'd hear her all over "Ya-ya-ya-ya! Ya-ya-ya!!!" (it was impossible to understand, just a lot of screeching. The man would leave the house and pace up and down on the sidewal before it bellowing about how he was always to blame and how awful the world was - whine whine whine. We all had to listen to it. The woman who lived across the street from us finally stalked out and stood in front of the house with the screeching woman and whiny man, then went back inside. She was a lawyer and I'm not sure what she did, but the noise stopped after that. Seems like your situation is a lot thornier, though. I wonder if crazy-man will stay quiet for a while? It's raining here and I'm still sick. Since I don't feel well enough to do much, I'm just prepping items for sale. The DH suited up in rain gear and went out for 40 or so miles on the bike. I envy him - it's peaceful and cool outside and if I felt even a little better I'd go out for a walk. Maybe later. Emerald_Door - cute photo!

So for national popcorn day yesterday or the day before I bought a 5 oz bag of Boom Chicka Pop light kettlecorn. I've almost eaten the entire thing. Instead of lunch I have a bowl of popcorn and some fruit. Snack? Bowl of popcorn. Hurrrr.... I'm eating some now to tide me over to dinner from my last bowl which I had for a snack in the early afternoon. This is why I don't keep stuff like this in the house! Mmmm...I like this better than the regular kettlecorn, though. It's tasty!

Our oven fan went on Thursday. Have an appliance guy coming out in the morning. Sure hope the advice in a local Facebook group is good advice. Says he is coming between 9:30 and 11:30. I hope he can fix it tomorrow. They say they carry the usual parts on their trucks.

It is a complicated situation and I do understand that. And if they choose to live with it, that's their choice. But it's leaking out into the neighborhood and disturbing others. So they really need to address it. She said he's "paranoid about kids" so that's why he only goes out at night now. I have no clue. And in the entire conversation she did not once address why he has these screaming cursing fits, never mind why he runs out of the house doing it? I don't know why they just don't get the deadbolts that take a key on each side and lock the doors at night. He'd probably have a fit in the house and they don't want that. But we neighbors don't want it either! Ugh.
Well it's chilly and rainy here today. Janey and I went out with our raincoats on this morning but only did about 1/2 of our walk. When we came back around close to our block again she drug me home lol. Maybe we'll get out later for the 1/2 half if we can get a break in the rain.

It is warming up today. I was hoping to get out on a walk but it looks like I will be waiting for the appliance guy. Got on the treadmill yesterday. It was too cold and icy to walk outside.

(((jes))) Mental illness like your neighbor's is a lose/lose situation. There is no really good help for it anywhere in the country sadly. I feel for the parents and the neighbors. But in the end, the neighbors have to sleep and feel safe.

Seedless red grapes are my weakness and I have them around all the time. My delivery is set for 6:30-7:30 tonight so I'll have some later this evening We got a nice rain last night, complete with thunder and lightening. Partly cloudy and 59 on tap today, then we'll be in the mid to high 60s for the next week. I moved the dining set to the patio (it was originally an outdoor set anyway) and that freed up my dining room, which is now being set up as a workout area. It was nice to have a mat to do my stretches on this morning. Now to unpack the execise bike.

We got rain here too, but ours is freezing! Everything is a sheet of ice. My poor baby GSD Xander fell down outside and couldn't get his footing unless he broke through the ice crust on the snow. Tomorrow is supposed to be the same with freezing rain, but then we've got a warm up coming! Woo hoo! 40 degrees!

But in the end, the neighbors have to sleep and feel safe. I agree, and unfortunately it seems he has an extreme case of whatever it is he actually has. I do feel for the parents, plus they are in their late 60s. It has to be really difficult to live like that. But it really has spilled out into the neighborhood. I didn't tell her that there had been a FB thread about it last April. This was when he was out more in the daytime rather than nighttime. People commented that he said Shut the F%$* up to several people including grandparents, that he jumped in front of vehicles (with children inside) screaming obscenities, that he was "deranged" and "aggressive". So far three nights of quiet, I haven't slept so well in quite a while.
Another rainy day here. Luckily I got out with Janey this morning and we got our full walk in today. A bit of thunder right now, and she's not happy about that lol. But it's 67 degrees and I won't complain about that
The best popcorn ever is Whirlypop. We have the pan and everything. It's a 3 or 4 times a year treat, and with a cold bottle Coke and a Sunday movie it can't be beat

All of the neighbors need to call 911 every time it happens, night or day. At some point, there will be enough complaints about him that the police will HAVE to do something, even if it's just a 72 hr psychiatric hold, or risk the PD being sued by one or more of the neighbors should any violence occur. At this point, a forced psychiatric hold might be the best thing for him. Cloudy and wet and high 60s here today.

For all of our CCL's here: Mitchell Grafton's teapots are always amazing, (and often auction for thousands of dollars), but I think this one that he has listed this week is especially cute. ❤️ I'll be watching to see just how much this one goes for. eBay item # 256387507980.

At this point, a forced psychiatric hold might be the best thing for him. Cloudy and wet and high 60s here today. Several people commented that they called HPD and nothing was done. Others called SEAL (some type of private security the rich people in the neighborhood pay for) and they were told he's "a harmless autistic man". But I agree, anyone who experiences it should call EVERY time. Knock on wood he hasn't been out since I talked to his mom. However it's been quite rainy so I'm not sure if they are actively trying to keep him, or if it's the weather.
Speaking of rain, Janey and I had to wait and wait to take our walk this morning. She was quite unhappy about it. We finally got out, and we both wore our raincoats It's stopped for now, but they are saying more later this afternoon. We woke up at 2:45ish to heavy thunderstorms. I never did go back to sleep properly

Mitchell Grafton's pieces are stunningly amazing.
I'd be afraid to own one even if I could afford it that it would wind up broken. They deserve to be on display for everyone to enjoy in a museum.

No way would one survive in this house. As my mother so often said "I can't have anything nice in this house with you kids here". I can say the same thing only insert "cats" instead of "kids".

I broke a tooth yesterday so now I have a dentist appointment on Monday. So far, it doesn't hurt. I'm hoping it stays that way over the weekend . They could have seen me Friday but I already have 2 appointments on Friday. Stretches done for the morning and now it's lunch time. Then work a couple of hours followed by a PT appointment where I'm sure she'll make me do even more stuff I think that deserves a cup of coffee.

Just checking in. Busy week for me. I hate doing things before work which means in the morning. The repair guy is coming back tomorrow to put in the oven cooling fan. Luckily he is coming between 8 and 10. I had an appointment with an attorney today. Previous employment case that has been going on since 2003. That finishes my week of appointments and such.
Got out walking yesterday. Not sure about the weather tomorrow and Friday yet. 🌧️🌧️🌧️

Hi, guys. THE SUN IS OUT TODAY!! Maybe my backyard swamp will start drying up. I'm surprised I'm not growing barnacles lol. We did need rain but we had over a month's worth in 3 days! 70 degrees for the high today, too. I will not complain.
Sorry to hear about your tooth Val I cracked a tooth years ago on a freaking tootsie roll of all things. I've had a crown there ever since. And that was the end of my tootsie roll days for sure.

We've run the gamut with 9" of snow from storm Friday into Saturday morning, then temps started going up and light rain that froze pavement early Monday. Our development was a bit icy, but main roads were good. Parked at work to discover the lot was black ice and unable to get 100 feet across to the building. Thankfully, an employee was parked next to me and going in when I was going to make a second attempt to walk across. Latched onto his arm and the 2 of us made it safely. Not only was I scared of falling, but there's a lot of truck activity and was afraid of getting run over. Several left and came back minutes later because road conditions has worsened. The good news is temps keep going up into 40s now. The bad news is it's been pretty much rain every day that along with snow melting, causes flooding. Last 2 mornings have been foggy, especially this morning. Haven't seen the sun since Sunday. Just stating facts and not complaining. I'm glad we're finally out of the deep freeze.
Sorry about the tooth, Val.

Yep another photo of cutie Smokey. Appliance guy is done. Of course he got error codes. He said to push the door shut. I cleaned the hinges around the door and the top latch. Hopefully it holds.
Now I can relax. Gotta pay bills tonight and do my local taxes this weekend.

Good luck, Val. I spend over $1,000 a year on my teeth since the quack dentist that I had 20 years ago did everything wrong. I did try Physicians Mutual Dental Insurance and it was a rip-off. I was paying $56.50 a month and had it for 6 months. But even though that was the deluxe policy, they only paid $40 of my $300 dental cleaning and x-ray bill. And you can't have anything major paid for unless you pay on the policy for a year. And even then, they only pay a small percentage.
Still rainy here, but better than snow.

That was pretty much my take on dental insurance too, Denise, after I looked at several policies. I do have a Care Credit card I can use and this dentist does payment plans, at least according to his website. Whatever, it is what it is and I'll just roll with it. We thought we had a decent bookkeeper hired but she lasted about 3 weeks and then quit "because of the drive". Mind you, she was told upfront it was an in-office job. She lives in the East Mountains and everyone who lives there KNOWS they'll have to commute to Albuquerque for decent jobs, hospital, major shopping, medical, etc. But nooooo, it's supposedly our fault that she has to drive and owns a gas guzzling SUV. Since knowlegeable bookkeepers are hard to find, I suggested to my boss today that she get a tax return temp from Robert Half, rather than do all the 1040 returns herself, and use that time instead to focus on getting a good bookkeeper who will stick around. Tax preparers for 1040s are easy to find. A bookkeeper who actually knows what he/she is doing is very hard to find. The senior partner had the brilliant (not) idea to outsource some of the work to small bookkeeping services. Unfortunately, he didn't bother to run them thru the simple test we use, nor did he try to negotiate prices, so we ended up with expensive bookkeeper services who actually didn't know what they said they did. He never listens to us, screws crap up, and we have to clean it up Needless to say, we try to keep him away from the bookkeeping work Nice weekend is on tap, mid-60s and partly cloudy to sunny depending on the day. Should be nice.
