I got my taxes done today. The place where I used to go....until last year, now charges $400 for a return! This new place only charges $95. Former place required that I drop off the papers and pick them up a week later. And I couldn't talk to anyone. This new place does the taxes while I sit there and we chat away. The lady who does mine is super nice.
Val-my dentist does have the Care Credit card, but I always use my own charge card. I was able to get 0% interest on this card for a year.

I've been working on my taxes, too - I do mine with TurboTax, but in my previous business I took them to a tax specialist firm, who did a great job and treated my little bitty company like I was a Fortune 500 - I appreciated that.
I'm still sick but not as bad as I was - stuck either on the windtrainer at home or on the treadmill at the gym, with some weightlifting. No high intensity, just low level burn calories and keep the fires burning, so to speak, while I wait for this gunk to cycle through, and staying warm. It has either been raining or too cold to work out outside as it aggravates this hacking cough that comes with the flu. Normally it wouldn't be a problem - I'd just put on a rain jacket and go. Apparently this year's edition is fierce, though.
Just back from England for 10 days and I'm already restless to go somewhere else. I was thinking of Hawaii again for a half marathon in April, wondering if I have enough time to train with this stupid flu. I'd just go myself - I need to stretch myself on my own.

We are still in the dreary cycle. Damp, rainy and cool. Supposed to stop raining today but I am not sure. The yard is a swamp and makes it hard to clean up the dog messes.
They fired a guy at work last week. I feel sorry for him. He got an extended probation but our midnight shift calls out sick so often they couldn’t train him if they wanted to. They wouldn’t let him dispatch which is an absolute requirement for the job. He was trained on it like everyone else but couldn’t learn to swim. So we are back being short and I could be forced over any night as he worked almost the same days I did.
And our power keeps going out.

Sorry your illness is lingering Chap. That really sucks. Take good care, you definitely don't want to get pneumonia.
Well when I was riding my bike Tuesday from the PO to the Dollar General some dumb B&^CH ran a stop sign and damn near hit me, AND DIDN'T EVEN NOTICE! I mean she just kept rolling like there was no stop sign for her (none for me even so I was already into the intersection or I would have yielded anyway). I mean she could have hit a kid! It was wet and my brakes weren't gripping so I had to drag my foot on the ground to stop and it really aggravated my toe which was finally starting to feel better. Boy I was mad enough to spit nails and it scared the cr*p out of me, which made me even more angry lol. It was a neighborhood street so she wasn't going a high rate of speed but it could still have really messed me up.
I think I am going to clean and dust the guest room tomorrow, and organize the inventory that I keep in there, maybe somehow how get more of it in the closet in there lol.

Our yard is a swamp too. We don't trust our boy so we have to walk him on a leash. We go through the swamp to higher ground, and then walk him around to the end of our driveway where there's still a big snow pile. He loves to jump around in that so it gets most of the mud off. But with the milder temps we're supposed to get, I don't know how much longer it will last. Then it will be back to wiping him down and letting him dry in the garage before letting him in. It looks like it will be swamp for the foreseeable future.

Wow Jes! You are lucky but that is so maddening!
@chap-I hope that you feel better soon! I was wondering how you could go out running when you weren't feeling well.
My yard is a swamp too, but no dog poop. Just deer poop from the large herd that visits my yard every night.
Hopefully, I found a new possible handyman. My former friend & handyman died of a heart attack before Christmas. Larry was great, didn't charge much and could fix anything. Now my garbage disposal is broken. I hardly use it, and don't miss it, but when I run water in the other side, somehow it goes through the disposal and runs out of the bottom. But I got the name of a guy from my friend and he will come out soon, he says.
My daughter's fiancee has a construction company with 30 employees and is slammed with work, so he isn't available.
I hate when stuff breaks since I sure can't fix it.

(((Jesmelric) - hopefully your healing toe didn't get too aggravated!
It's still raining and now the DH is sick. I'm feeling better and ran 3 miles today at the gym, but am still very disinclined to do anything outdoors save for quiet walks, or any harder exercise than just some miles indoors. I absolutely don't want this morphing into anything else. The DH felt well enough to ride his bike to work but I warned him to take it easy on the big hill coming home. He said "Naaahhhh!" but emailed me saying he wasn't feeling too great - I could pick him up from work but he says he'd rather ride home. Oh well - all he needs to do is let me know.
Had to go to the Goodwill today to return a couple of things - their prices are too high to just redonate damaged merchandise and I missed a couple of things. I turned over the whole clothing section to find four items to exchange them for and those are no great shakes. Bleh. Happy to be back inside with a salmon poke bowl for a dinner treat and a hazy ale.
Rain pretty much through into February - we might get our usual February break then before it starts up again, though. Every year about this time everything is covered in moss, including metal surfaces and anything that stands still for more than about an hour lol.

Got a lot done yesterday. Now to somewhat clean the house for the cleaners and to try to get to BJs.
Still waiting for the local tax filing site to be available.
2023 put away and 2024 files ready. A bag of documents to shred at work.
Categorized all my Amazon purchases from 2023 and 2024. I am really bad about entering them into Quicken.
And of course it is supposed to rain tonight and snow tomorrow night.
