We're in the 70's today. Nice! I put in a maintenance request last night for my thermostat and they came and fixed it first thing this morning. That was fast! He removed the thermostat provided by the power company and replaced it with a good old basic heat/cool switch and up/down temp controls He says CPS was controlling the thermostat but everything I read last night about Honeywell thermostats said my problem was most likely due to an about to be dead battery. It was a thermostat from CPS, but for them to control it you have to opt into the program and I'm not. Regardless, I now have a new thermostat. I have to work today, but at least I don't have to check throughout the day for emails, texts and other messages from clients and staff. I can live with that. But first, it's coffee and breakfast time.

I don't get it. We have the technology to pinpoint the exact spot a small electronic rover is on a planet we've never been to and even communicate with it. OTOH, FedEx and UPS systems apparently don't have a way to tell if a delivery address is a residence, a commercial building (with limited delivery window) or multifamily housing (often with limited delivery). USPS/Amazon tried to deliver yesterday, couldn't get it because the gate is usually closed on Sundays and the resident has to remotely open the gate for deliveries. Now I have a UPS package that will be redelivered tomorrow because they tried to deliver at 5:21 a.m. this morning and (surprise!) the office was closed so the gate was closed. You'd think in their quest to save money, they would make that one simple improvement to their sorting system so they don't send trucks out to locations on days the location most likely can't receive deliveries. I do hope they don't try to deliver at 5:21 a.m. again tomorrow Whatever. Speaking of AMZ, I found the same thing last night at Home Depot for about $40 less. That surprised me. But I stil bought it from HD AMZ is having another round of Prime Days tomorrow and Wednesday, but there are some early specials today. Good time to Christmas shop! Other major competitor retailers are doing something similar on various days this week.

Hello, hope everyone is well. Wonderful weather here!! Such a relief from the terrible summer. It was so nice I took Janey out for an extra outing this morning. We walked down to Petsmart and let her pick a few goodies. She was super excited and it was really nice to get out for an extra walk.
We are supposed to have a really nice weekend coming up, as well. The church down the road is having a rummage sale so I am looking forward to that. Maybe we'll find a few other sales while we are out, too. Then the next Saturday will have to be a photo session. Ugh.
Stay, I hope the job training goes well.

Love the new banner, too, Val. Such purty colors.
I was really surprised how it took less time than I thought to get there. Easiest money I ever made for as little work we actually do. Have to get used to what truck drivers sign what sheet and what to do with paperwork if there is any. Everyone was really nice. I'm wearing my too large/long uniform shirt and safety vest. Want DH to take a pic when he gets home. Shucks, I feel so "official".
Thanks for asking!

Geez. It appears I also have a lazyazz UPS delivery person. Online shows they tried to deliver at 1:58 pm but "the business was closed". Which either means they delivered to the wrong address or the driver was too lazy to actually bring the item to my door and tried to deliver it to the apartment office while the office staff were at lunch or out on property. I messaged the seller to verify they did include the apt # on the label. It's a large rug so I'm inclined to think the driver is being lazy. Anyone doing early Christmas shopping - Kohls has a bunch of coupons today and you can stack them. Plus the usual 20% or 30% off (depending). Just FYI

I Christmas shop year round. Pickings have been pretty slim but pretty much finished last week. Is anyone watching the new Kitchen Nightmares? Gordon Ramsay makes some of the funniest comments about the bad food he's served. Tonight, waitress brought an open faced cheesesteak sub and first thing he said about the cheese was it looked like someone melted a condom on top of his sandwich.

No Christmas shopping here as I'm going to be overseas. Usually I send my bro, SIL, niece, etc. a big goodie box of Pac NW treats, but I think I'll gather one together when I'm in Hawaii earlier in December. Sending one from England would be way too expensive :-(

A Hawaiian goodie basket will probably be liked as much as the NW Pac baskets, Chap! Although I will admit to liking the NW Pac stuff better myself LOL. I ordered a rug from Etsy. UPS has had a hard time delivering and now shows it delivered "at dock" and signed for by "Rider". I'm in an apartment. There is no dock here to receive goods. There is also no employee named "Rider", first or last name. Yesterday when UPS was having issues delivering, I messaged him to verify the shipping address. He never replied. I contacted the seller a few minutes ago to let him know about the wrong delivery address. I just read his reviews and it appears this happens pretty frequently with the rugs (he sells a mix of stuff). My guess is he's outsourcing the printing and it's being shipped from the outsourced service, not him. Fortunately the reviews saying UPS showed delivery but they never got also said he replaced the shipment. We shall see. It better get replaced or refunded, because it was not a cheap item.

Etsy seller originally sent me the wrong tracking info. Whew. I also noticed when I tracked the new # that he did not ship when he said he did. Whatever. His customer service attitude sucks so I won't be ordering from him again regardless. But at least there's still hope I'll get my package

FYI, if you have things saved for later or are holding stuff in your cart at any retail site (not just AMZ), you might take a look at the pricing today. I had several things seriously discounted at multiple retailers, not just AMZ. One of the noodle boards I was considering dropped 45% today. Unfortunately I ordered a different one yesterday. But the one I ordered will fold in half, making it easier to remove and store if I want to use the stove top or when I bake. It's not on sale today so all is good after all

Good grief. Walmart just delivered my order. I ordered 4 items, received only one of the 4 items, AND someone else's order. Unlike the other delivery services, you cannot contact the delivery person directly so I couldn't tell him he'd delivered the wrong items to the wrong address. I had to contact WM's 800 help number (NEVER do that). Rep didn't speak very good English and was apparently reading off a script card. So she canceled the rest of the order (said it was from "the marketplace" but it was actually delivery from the store). She was going to let me keep the misdelivered item but I pointed out to her it was a fairly expensive item and they really should come get it. Plus, I didn't want it. It's just not my month for deliveries. The customer who ordered the Ozark Trail All-Terrain Big Bucket Cart Wagon is going to be very disappointed if they received the rest of my order - pack of briefs, dawn dish soap and huge bag of cat food.

That cart would be good for hauling kitty litter around.
My step-sister-in-law just posted on Facebook. She fosters cats and one of them just knocked a can of paint down her steps and the lid came off. So she now has a huge puddle of gray paint on her carpet.

Sounds like the lid wasn't replaced properly. You need a screwdriver to open those things when they're closed right

That would be a definite YES. I will even come over and pick it up. LOL! Let's give it until Friday. The rep first said they'd have FedEx pick it up, then later in the call she said they'd have the delivery person come back and pick it up. I don't expect either to happen. If FedEx hasn't come by Friday, they aren't coming. From the weight of the box, it appears to be pretty heavy duty.

That cart would be good for hauling kitty litter around. Every crazy cat lady knows one has kitty litter delivered whenever possible, especially in the quantities that Kritter and Shirley need My A/C went out last night. Good thing it's not the middle of summer, eh? It was a bit warm though inside to sleep last night. Wish I could open the windows but the screens push out easily and I don't need cats escaping in the middle of the night My noodle board was delivered today. It's really nice and fits perfectly. Unfortunately it's also on sale today. I'm chatting with AMZ customer service now to see if they'll give me a refund of the difference. Can't hurt to ask.

Tonight, waitress brought an open faced cheesesteak sub and first thing he said about the cheese was it looked like someone melted a condom on top of his sandwich. I shop all year round, too. If I see something for someone I know they will like, I pick it up. And if I have extra time here and there I will shop around online looking for ideas, too. Makes it more affordable and less stressful.
Well we had rain this morning! Moderate rain for a few hours, we definitely needed it. Our walk was a bit wet this morning, but I can't complain as we needed rain so badly. It put me of a mind to make chicken soup for dinner
Today is oldest DD's birthday, and Friday is youngest DD's. She will be 29, bit will be weird when I don't have a kid in their 20's any more! DS will be 40 in Feb, which will potentially freak me out lol.
The only Amazon Prime day order I placed was for some Halloween candy. We get so many kids every year and man candy is expensive this year! I remember last year the regular size bags were $3.99 and I got them on sale mostly for $1.99 to $2.99.This year they are $5.99 on sale for $4.99

I just got a cover for my iPad 3rd generation. I have the Otterbox but I don’t like the way it sits in the stand. Doesn’t sit like my 12” does. It was on prime, in black for 49.99 and free delivery today.

Woo hoo! Amazon is crediting my credit card the amount of the price difference on the noodle board. I had to google though to find the instructions. Amazon doesn't make anything easy on their site, do they? I have two amended corporate returns due today so I guess I should get to work

Last day of training, experiencing what the first 4 hours of my shift will be when it will be busiest with employees starting at different shifts. Fortunately, my vintage Sony Dream Machine (dual alarm, radio and cassette player) still works great. I found copy of manual online to refresh my memory setting alarms, snooze bar (essential because I don't just pop out of bed, I need to ease out) and reset when done snoozing. Went off promptly at 4am, giving me plenty of time to get dressed, enjoy coffee and (hopefully) be fully awake by the time I leave around 5:15am since it only takes around 35 minutes to get there, and probably less time since there's probably a lot less traffic at this hour.

I hope you like the job, Stay! As for me, there is no job in the world now that I would do if it required me to get up at 4:00 a.m. Those days are long gone. Although that early hour might be part of why your friend is having a hard time finding good employees who stay.

My next door neighbor works overnight security at Sea World, but their hours are structured a little more reasonably. He gets home about 9:00 a.m, so that means the day shift comes on probably around 8:00 or 8:30 am. I'll have to ask next time I see him.
