Good morning, everyone! Beware the Ides of March on the 15th, spring supposed to spring next week, lost an hour of sleep over the weekend. Still cold in the 30s here, woke up to dusting of snow last 2 mornings and micro-flakes coming down now. March is such a stubborn month giving up winter. Hope everyone has a good memory making day!

We're looking at 67 and partly cloudy today. Starting Friday though, they're saying highs in the 50's through the weekend. Kritter won't like that Speaking of critters, no critter noises last night. The office emailed me this morning and said the critter catchers placed one way traps in several places in the building. Saturday night's noise maker critter must have been caught Sunday. Work is fun today. Not. We use Patriot for payroll, and they used Silicon Valley Bank for to process the funds. The Feds shut down SBV on Friday. Oops.

Word on the street was that neighbors have called the law on Daisy's condo. Pics were forwarded to the Building Inspector. Looks like there could be some foundation issues on this side. Don't know for sure but it looks like the Building Inspector has arrived. Not a good start of a new week for Chance. Looks like the inspection has begun. You would think that they would have sent an inspector that isn't blind.

Damp and chilly the past 4 days. I gave up and went to Giant, Wegmans and Costco this morning. Not major shopping but a few items from each store. Spend 10 minutes trying to find 33 gal trash bags in Costco. Made the mistake of asking a woman that just wanted to tell me that she shops a different Costco that did not have a certain moisturizer in stock, how good it is and that this store had 38 of themπ. Thought I was going to have to pull the fire alarm to get away from her! Finally found a stock person and they helped me.

<<Thought I was going to have to pull the fire alarm to get away from her!>>
I'll remember that - it might come in handy.
It's the usual 40s and raining here, though we're due for several days of partly cloudy coming up, so we'll all be able to dry out a bit before the next bout of rain. Racing season is getting underway, with a 15k run coming up - lovely course along Birch Bay near Bellingham, up near Canada. I haven't been able to get whatever remnants I have left of my 'top speed' back since Covid - I gas out more easily and still have this wheezing cough (it's much better, though), so it'll be a basic slow tour for me. Fortunately, my endurance is pretty good - hopefully they'll keep the finish line open until I come clomping in lol. I've been training off-road since that's the quickest way to get fitness in, but it's so muddy that everything is covered with glop and the DH was annoyed at all the mud I was tracking into the house - IT'S GOOD CLEAN DIRT!!! Geez, I clean up after myself.

Norβeaster winds today. 40-45 mph. Maybe light precipitation.
No sleep. Hubby woke me up because the oldest Lab dropped some poop balls at 0430 hr. He canβt simply get up and clean it up. Poor Bunker is 13.5 years old. He canβt help it. Of course I let him out at 11:45 and couldnβt see on the camera whether he did a #2 or not. He is hubbyβs favorite pup. He can still get up and down the steps.
Cleaners coming in 45 minutes. Hoping they skip another Tuesday soon. They used to come on my day off. Then when my schedule changed at work, I am working the day they come. They go across the street after they clean here.

Sorry about Bunker, poor puppy (no matter how old, the puppy never leaves).
We had off/on snow showers of varying size/intensity all day yesterday. Didn't start accumulating until last night and have a couple inches blanketing everything. Still coming down this morning. The good news is temps will be going up tomorrow with sunshine and in the 50s Thursday and, of course, rain on St. Patrick's Day (oops, how could I forget that in opening post?) so it will be melted and gone soon.

Serious meeting with Daisy and Lucy, the Building Inspector, this morning. Why all this interest in the condo when the house right around the corner has been vacant since before last Christmas. Uh oh, as Daisy scopes out the Merry Mouse house, Chance's interest does not go unnoticed.

Good thing there is a zoning ordinance against condos in my neighborhood I'm not sure where I'd put one anyway, between all the cat trees and the cat beds here. The cats have all been taking turns sleeping in the papasan chair though. Trixie comes in the kitchen every morning when I'm fixing my coffee, talks to me, and I brush her (she'll even come to me when I show her the brush). She loves being brushed. I guess Simon and Twila were getting jealous of the attention Trixie was getting so they came in the kitchen today too. They've done that before, but this time they stayed after Trixie walked out and just looked at me. I got the hint. I brushed Simon and then Twila came up to check out the brush. She didn't stay still for long, but she did stand still long enough that I got a few swipes in. I think she'll end up liking being brushed like the other two do.

If you're looking for cute planters, I found these on Amazon: The chicken isn't large enough to name it after Beyonce the Chicken, so I might just call it BabyBC The bee is also available in a red ladybug. I just realized that my boss doesn't really understand what SVB failing meant. She seems to think it just affects some companies out in CA, and has no effect on our clients (not true). I suggested we remind clients to consider using multiple banks if they have more than $250,000 on hand on a regular basis. She didn't think it was a big deal and that the client memo could wait until May, after tax season. I had to explain FDIC insurance to her and tell her about the massive S&L closures in the 90s (she's not old enough to remember those) and the bank closures in 2008. Fortunately the sr partner liked the idea of reminding clients while SVB and FDIC insurance is in the news and our admin is sending out a mass message to everyone. It will take her all of what, 30 minutes max, if that long? It also makes us look good, like we're being proactive

I usually go to Ross Dress for Less on Tuesday because it is Senior Day and 15% off. I am looking for solar cuties/statues for my yard and they always seem to have good yard decor. Usually about 10 or less customers there in the early afternoon.
Today the store was packed. Spring Break here this week and everybody and all their kids were there. If a recession is in play, it is not happening here. Baskets were loaded with clothes and general stuff. I was in line behind three loaded baskets with my one cat statue and they told me to go ahead of them. Nobody holding on to their money today at that store.

Arrgggh. Sr partner doesn't under the SVB failure either. The partners think our payroll service is broken. Um, no. The feds froze the funds at the bank the payroll service uses. We were informed this morning that funds have been released and we can once again process direct deposit payroll. Both partners are like, "maybe go with what we know - paper checks - until the payroll service gets fixed". First job I had at a public accounting firm was with Coopers & Lybrand back in the late 1990s, and they had me working on bank closures. Maybe I'm expecting too much from my current bosses Supposedly the critter folks were back out yesterday to check out the building again. I saw some out yesterday and today, but I think it may have been from a different company as I didn't see the same logo'd truck from other visits. Whatever. All I know is it's been quiet the past two nights Fingers and paws crossed it stays that way.

It turned into a beautiful day - mid or upper 50s and sun! People piled out to walk, run, bike and ride other contraptions, with dogs everywhere. My running friend and I went out for a "Dickens mile" (with his short-legged westie) and then a few more miles ourselves. He's a professional dog walker and had a full schedule - I can't imagine how many miles he walked his various dogs today, but when he's hired to walk your dog, the dog really gets walked for a couple of miles, not just taken out to sit somewhere. He had nine clients today.

The sun's finally back out after 5 overcast days, 3 with snow that's pretty much gone already. Got corned beef, rye bread and Swiss cheese for sandwiches on Friday. Tomorrow's supposed to go up to almost 60 and partially sunny so perfect day to really be outside enjoying it before temps drop again. Great to look outside at 6pm and see bright sunshine instead of winter darkness. Sunset's around 7:30pm already and loving it.
Val, I hope your problem is solved, entrance(s) sealed and no more noises.

kritter, how did the building inspection go? My upstairs neighbor with the birds also has cats. I thought she just had two but it appears she might have three. A pale silver siamese and a bright calico. I saw another cat in the window today that I suppose could be the other side of the calico, but it's smaller and coloring seems to be dappled dark gray and white. I guess to them, the birds are just old hat Partly cloudy and mid 70's here today. High 70s/low 80s tomorrow, then a cold front comes in and we'll be in the high 40s-low 50s thru the weekend. Looks like the incoming cold front will be a big one, with cold hitting far south although snow will be more on the northern part of the storm.

We had a really cold day yesterday that didn't go higher than 20 degrees. Still cold today, but tomorrow and Friday will be close to 60 degrees.
I agree with Chap-love the fact that it is still light until 7:30.

We are waiting for the report. I think the Building Inspector is under pressure to delay a demolition report from Chance as he seems to want to tear it down piece by piece.

I never should have purchased the chicken and bumble bee planters. Now I'm on a mission to find more cute whimsical planters I have a 3 shelf console table I need to assemble and unfortunately the cute planters will look good on it. I guess it does beat buying clothes I don't need Our power company sent out an email this morning warning of the high winds tonight and possible hail, and reassured us they have staff ready to fix anything that happens. I don't recall ever getting weather emails from utility companies prior to the Great TX Snowout

Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water....ceiling critter is back. Guess he wanted to get out of the rain and thunder I put in (another) maintenance request. It really has the critter removal people stumped - there have been people out here all week walking in front of the building looking up. Either they're peeping toms or the critter folks are trying to do inspections

It doesn't take much of a crack for something to get in a building. I really hope they find the source and take care of the problem. I doubt you're the only one hearing the noises.

There are a LOT more squirrels near this building than the old one. Twila and Simon love it, me - not so much. I've decided not to try and put the netting up because I'm pretty sure the squirrels will destroy it. You can't say the Irish don't have a sense of humor

Best product review of the day - for a small microfiber duster:
Oh my goodness, this little duster is absolutely amazing! Perfect for cleaning in those corners of bookshelves filled with all the knick-knacks that your kids made for you at school, that you have no idea what the hell they are but you can never throw them away or the gazillion Mum ornaments you get every Birthday and Christmas. Also works great for removing dirt, dust, cobwebs off from the Cat, who has disappeared behind the sofa yet again to add to the hoard of toys and missing socks hidden there (because they much prefer to eat unwrapped human toes after all!). *Side note - It will take several hours to wrestle the duster away from said Cat, whom now believes that it's the best toy ever!!...also buy extra head pieces as a Cat wearing a red wig, is bloody hilarious!! π

I am of Irish extraction (some of us off the boat which meant I grew up around the sound of the brogue) and this is the day my tribe celebrates. When we were hiking around the Isle of Anglesy up on a high narrow trail at Llanbadrig (not recommended for those not surefooted - the trail is narrow, it's right at cliff's edge, but the view is incredible) we could see down to the little cave right above the water where he was purported to have landed. The church there dates back to the 5th century. No green beer, though!
It hit almost 60 degrees here and we opened the windows to air out the house and were out and about in our shirt sleeves doing yard work. The DH was up on the roof cleaning and wanted me to go up there and clean the skylights. Unfortunately, whereas running around on the roof doesn't bother me, I don't trust my balance on getting on and off the ladder. I volunteered to clean the deck, stairs, our large patio and RV slip instead. I felt badly - I never used to have problems on ladders until I fell off one. I really need to break myself of this fear or I'll never be able to help on the roof and the DH will have to do the cleaning all alone.

The reality is we're looking at another round of snow late afternoon until Sunday afternoon so it will probably look more like this:

Chap at some point it is better to pay a professional. My neighbor had some serious injuries from a fall, including collapsed lung and multiple rib and skeletal fractures.
2-3 weeks and we should know if we will get a puppy from the breedings.
We are having another blustery day. Tomorrow will be in the freezer and then we have a warm up. Hoping the winds die down.
Semester at work is more than half over. Summer at work will be unusual. New guy in charge of all the summer stuff. Has to bring in new camps as the big one is gone. After they bailed out last year I am sure that even if that camp had the personnel they did not want to risk it. It is a shame as they created very few if any issues for our department. The overnight sports camps are a pain as the kids lock themselves out all the time.

I agree with labby about getting a professional, Chap. If you fall off the roof, DH may have to do everything all alone. Balance can be affected by age for a variety of reasons.
