I think they look sloppy, but what do I know about fashion? Just FYI, it appears that squirrels don't like being sprayed by the water bottle any more than cats do

Hoodies are a staple around here. I prefer full zip front to regulate temp in the apartment as we're on the top floor and get the brunt of cold weather. Zip up before furnace kicks in and zip down when the room is warm. As kritter says, they're also great to wear between a top and coat. And easy to care for. Depends what size if they look sloppy, but I'm a jeans and tee shirt person so I don't care about fashion, I just want to stay comfortable.

Maybe it's because I've never lived anywhere cold enough for me to need the hood part, not even when I lived in Albuquerque. Whatever. I do have some I bought last year that I wore maybe once (or not at all), and I was debating between donating and selling on eBay. Guess I'll list them first since they're in excellent condition.

Hoodies with tiny hoods were popular in the late 70s then came back. Here hoodies are worn by almost everyone, but they're the functional type. They work well because you can just flip the hood up in the rain, drizzle and/or wind and don't need to carry an umbrella (few here carry one, anyway - the wind just destroys them and we're used to rain on our heads, anyway). The hoods on athletic wear come in handy because if it's cold, you can flip the hood up and put a hat or helmet on top. The little hoods - dunno what they're good for! For a while guys were stretching them up over their heads so they'd cover about half their scalp - it looked very odd but it was a brief style.

Hoodies are easy to wear if you have short hair but they are a PITA to wear if you have shoulder length hair. Your hair needs to be "arranged" if you aren't tying it back or up. I usually just curve each side forward towards my face. If you have very long hair it's easier to just leave your hair down your back and wear the hoodie right over your hair. Long hair looks bad/messy when it's pulled out over the back of a thick material hood, the hair bunches out from the back. I try to avoid any coat or sweater with a hood on it when buying clothes. I do have a few of the fleece zip-front RL Polo sweat-shirts with the hood that I do wear in fall with jeans - they were DS's and they are oversized on me but they are cozy and warm, more like a jacket than a sweat-shirt.

I don't get the hoodie attraction either, I hate they put them on tops & make them basically unwearable.

I like hoodies to wear around my house. I seldom wear them on the rare occasion that I leave my house.
In the cold weather (like right now), I wear a tank top, with a tee shirt on top, and a hoodie. When I have a hot flash, I just take off the hoodie.
And down here in my family room, sometimes it gets cold enough to flip the hood up to cover my head. But it is colder down here than it is upstairs.

I own a couple full zip hoodies that I use more like a jacket. Other than that, I hate pull-on hoodies. When you pull on a jacket over them, they bunch up and it’s a struggle to get them out and laying right. In a car, they hit in an uncomfortable spot on my upper back. Years ago, i had a t-shirt thickness long sleeve top with a small hoodie. The first time I wore it, I came home and DH said, “What are you carrying in that thing?” I thought he was making some dumb joke until he reached over and snatched out a dryer sheet I’d been carrying around. Yet another reason to dislike hoodies

Ours are close to $7k/year and it's not because our taxation rate is high, it's because housing costs here are stupid - we have a 1700 sqft split level and it's valued at almost $900,000. Whaaaa?? People are spending $600,000 on little crackerbox townhouses in our not exactly ritzy neighbourhood. Houses are now going for over a million and they're nothing special. That is crazy! The sad part is my house is valued well under 300K, probably closer to 250K. A 900K house here is usually facing a tax burden of close to 20K a year!! And that is the older parts of town - the tax levy is nearly 3% in some of the newer neighborhoods. We bought in a slightly older neighborhood because despite the insane levy, these new neighborhoods are not annexed and you don't even get trash service! In some of the newer neighborhoods, the taxy levy is 3%! I suppose its all a trade off. Ours is outrageous here in Harris county. Over 6K last year for a 1200 sq ft post WW2 home! And it's valued at about $370,000. They are coming in and knocking down the old homes and building $ 1M + "mansions" and that is contributing to the high values. Most of it is the lot, and not the house, and of course you can't even protest that. And the tax rate here I think is about 1.7%.
Well, Chap I'm so sorry you and DH got the 'vid. I hope you both have a quick recovery and your smell and taste return soon and return normally. I'm about 98% improved on the parosmia but there's a tiny lingering taste to my lips and a few things that aren't quite right. Coke, some colognes and other chemical fragrances.
Allikat, congratulations to your son and his beautiful bride! What a lovely couple
Mom had chest pains Wed and they sent her back to the ER, no heart attack. They think it was angina and now she has a prescription for nitroglycerin so they can administer it to her if she has chest pains again. My sister went to check on her Thursday and she was visiting with the boyfriend and they were about to head to the activities room so it seems all was well.
Record high temps here the last few days, and the promise of a front that will bring cooler temps and send the hurricane to the Florida panhandle (sorry Florida!) They said would could hit 59 next Saturday morning. AMEN! Plus I plan to put out Halloween that day so perfect weather

I have cut many a hood off shirts and jackets, lol. I hate the ones that are light weigh and on a dressy-ish top. I don't mind a traditional zip front hoodie but hate the pull over ones, I don't like having anything around my neck. I noticed in the stores that are a lot of cute shirts but they have hoods this year.
Thinking about Chap and Chap's DH, hope they are on the road to recovery. I am regaining some taste but it is very inconsistent and seems I can only smell bad smells so far, lol.
Just made a deal to sell RV, it was a very difficult decision but even if I were to continue RVing it would need to be in a different RV, memories good and bad are too much for me to bear in this one. It was hard to do the final sweep and take everything out of it including DH's ashes which are now residing in the big jeep until it is time to sell that.

((((allikat))))) I had one hoodie with a drawstring around the face years back. I didn't need to wear the hoodie part very often, but it was handy on the few cold windy days I encountered. The current hoodies I see now though seem to be decorative rather than functional. No drawstring, and so wide around the face that they trap the wind instead of blocking it. I don't see the appeal for the decorative hoodie tops. There was a top at QVC with a "decorative" hoodie on it that I thought about buying and removing the hoodie, but there wasn't a good enough closeup of the neckline for me to tell if I could remove the hoodie without destroying the top or not. Forecast here keeps changing. First we had high 80's starting Tuesday, then it went to low-mid 90's most of this week, and now we're back to 92 today, 90 tomorrow and then high 80's the rest of the week. HURRY UP FALL! I'm tired of summer heat. I'm also hoping that once we actually get some cooler temps in the early morning, I can get out and knock down the wasp nests and get my balcony cleaned up. The apartment did finally remove all the nests from the third floor overhang, and that helped some but I found another nest last week. Ugh. I bought some Raid Hornet/Wasp killer this time. Reviews reported it killed on contact AND seemed to poison the nest so that there was no further activity. The other two brands did not do that, nor did they spray the distance that they promised. I really want to get the netting up so the kitties and I can enjoy the outdoors this fall and winter

It was 88 today, supposed to be the same tomorrow. Then 80 on Tuesday, then down into the 70s. I honestly cannot remember a time when it was in the 80s and 90s while school was in. Oregon always starts around labor day (either the week before or day after), so it's September usually when the kids start school. Coming home when it's 90+ after school is not something that happens here. Not to mention, it's almost October and we're still in the high 80s? Uh, no.
