Good morning, everyone! Had a nice vacation but glad to be back home. Today is Queen Elizabeth's funeral, watching the procession through London. RIP to an amazing woman serving the people for 70 years literally up til the end.
First day of Autumn on the 22nd and weather must have gotten the memo. We're still in upper 70s and 80s until then, when temps drop down in 60s for highs. Hope everyone enjoys the warmth before we start complaining how cold it is again.

Great day here. Morning is a bit warmer than it has been. Got in a walk. 3 days in a row. Have been in a lot of pain the past month or so. Not sure if it is from new work shoes or a “almost fell” around the same time. Was in a restaurant and forgot there was a step down from where our seats were. I slip off the step with both feet toes down. Hamstring has been bothering me in addition to joint pain. Gosh getting older sucks.

We'll be 97 here on the first day of fall No complaints from me when it finally gets cold. I like cold weather.

We are around 85 degrees, but there is a cool breeze. I do not look forward to shorter days and colder temps. I am a summer person.

Most definitely a summer person here. Fall and winter are so drab with no flowers, no leaves on trees, so much early darkness.

I like spring the best, with the anticipation of nice weather and gardening.

I dread the ice and snow. Guess it helps that I seldom venture out. But then I have to worry about my mail lady getting up this side road to pick up my packages. Or my food deliveries from Walmart... ugh ugh

I guess I'm a contrarian - I love kinda nasty weather, which is good since I live in a marine climate and we have squalls for months. We rarely have snow and ice, though, so I guess you kind of choose your poison when it comes to weather.
But fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck...the DH has Covid. I've tested negative so far. The little Covid bombs probably perish in their fight to get through my continually clogged sinuses. We'll be testing again in a few days. The DH hasn't been able to sleep for days and now sounds like he has a cold - hopefully it'll just be that. He's a very robust person - I'm usually the one who picks up bugs, but then I go to gyms and thrifts which are germ factories (I've been masking up in both, though). They've had Covid at his office - people are very good about testing and isolating, but since it takes a while for symptoms to come up, they won't know until they start feeling badly and test for it.
At least he is done with his summer cycling ride/race season and fall is rolling around.

Chap hopefully hubby feels better soon. We slept in separate beds once I got sick. We kind of stayed apart or across the room from each other.

Thank you! He got on Paxlovid right away. I might just bring out my sleeping bag and sleep on the couch. Though he said he would wear a mask all night - he hasn't slept well in days and he really needs the rest. I can sleep pretty much anywhere. We'll see. We're both masked up when we're even in the same room.

(((((Chap & DH)))))) I hope he gets well soon and that you don't catch it. I went by my doc's office to get some lab work today and they had a sign on the door that a) masks were mandatory, and b) no cloth masks allowed. Only surgical or N95. They were handing out masks to anyone not complying. I have my wonderful Lutema masks so all was good. Plus I got to match my mask to my outfit

We're both masked up when we're even in the same room. We got one of those Intex inflatable beds years ago when our one dog couldn’t manage the steps. Hubby slept downstairs with him. We pulled that out for Covid and for when our dogs are having joint pain.

My bro' and SIL have one of those inflatable beds - it has a sort of velcro finish, and we sleep on it when we visit - it's quite comfortable. I made up a bed on the couch with a sleeping bag and pillow - I told the DH that if one of us has to get up and go downstairs to sleep, it's better not to have to fetch pillow, pillow case, sleeping bag and the rest of it stumbling around in the wee hours. The couch has a bunch of my product photo props on it to clean off, too. Whomever ends up there will have a ready-made crib.
DH was complaining that it was just such a glorious September (we're having a fine one) when he broke his femur in a spectacular crash as a younger man, and he couldn't enjoy it with more big challenges. I reminded him that we had had over six weeks of excellent summer and he had got in all of his big rides - he could rest on his laurels for a while. I used to get a little crazy about my training, too, but I was racing as a sponsored racer and wanted to do right by my sponsor - he has no obligations save to himself. I handed him a bottle of Nyquil lol and he had a dose of it and I tucked him in.

((((Chap and DH)))) Hope you don't get it. I'm on Covid watch as well since my BFF was with me all day yesterday then went home and tested positive. She had been on a vacay to Atlantic City for four days over an extended weekend and came home with more than her gambling winnings. Well, it happens to the best of us. She's getting retested today at a doc-in-the-box and I suggested she ask about Paxlovid as she is diabetic, although allergic to everything too.

Our local news reported last night that Covid sometimes accelerates Alzheimer's if the person has a propensity for it. That is scary.
Frak-good luck!

PSA - get your flu shot this year, plus your COVID booster if you haven't had the new one yet. The experts are predicting a higher than usual flu season. They're also finding that those who catch the flu and COVID together are more suseptible to serious complications. /PSA I contacted a couple of charities that dop pickups but they don't have any dates available, and Goodwill doesn't have any until late October. I'll guess I'll just have to haul the furniture I want to donate down a piece at a time and make multiple trips to donate it. Or maybe try Freecycle. Has anyone here used Freecycle before? I cannot get in the mood to work. Guess I'll put in a few hours today of some easy work (brainless stuff like updating our biz tax return status report, updating my to do calendar, LOL), I can probably motivate myself to do that much

I'll look into that, thanks! Well, no one sent San Antonio the memo about Fall starting tomorrow. The power company is asking everyone to conserve energy today and tomorrow

We'll have to agree to disagree, LOL. I think areas where the trees change colors are gorgeous in the fall.

Our trees in PA are orange, yellow and red. Really pretty. They're pretty when they FIRST start to turn and are UP ON THE TREES. It's when they turn brown, shrivel up, rot, die, and land all over the ground, lawns, and in the shrub beds that the true ugliness rears it's head. I was outside still spraying Round-up last week and I could not believe how many dead leaves have already accumulated in our shrub-beds.

I am so glad that I finally got rid of my huge maple tree 4 years ago. It was a nightmare for me to have to rake up those billions of leaves.
I still have to deal with crap from my 5 huge pine trees, but at least no leaves fall from them....just pine cones and branches.
