I have a fully wooded 1 acre lot, mostly Oak trees. I have a mess once they start to fall. Generally DH and I would take 4 trailer loads to recycling each fall, last year he just mowed them and blew them around. Not sure what the plan is this year yet but I need to talk to my yard girl and get her thoughts. I need to get the pond net on also so pond doesn't fill up with leaves. DS is supposed to help with that on Saturday, if he doesn't make it my boyfriend (still makes me giggle a little and shake head in disbelief) said he would help. We were going to go to the County Fair for dinner one night this week but it was $10 per person to get in and $10 to park, so we decided that we would go out to dinner at a nice restaurant instead, lol. Went to a local BBQ place it was really good and we still think, doing the math we can go out again and still be ahead. We have been hanging out at his parents pool almost every night, it will be shut down for the season next weekend, hopefully the weather holds and we can use it until then. I love the changing of the season, I love having 4 separate seasons. DH did not, he wanted hot and sunny all the time. I am looking forward to fall and winter this year for the first time in a long time. I want to curl up, watch movies and read, I want to cook soup, chili and stew. This is all new for me to embrace the change. ETA: Good thoughts for Chap and DH, make sure to watch it if it drops into his chest get to hospital!! Here are wedding pictures, DS, DIL and Miss Nala Good Girl, lol. And me.

alli- you look great! And handsome groom and beautiful bride....and cute dog. I used to rake all of my maple leaves out of my driveway and into my front yard. Then I would mulch them with my mower. But you will have a lot more than I ever did.

Noticed my pecan and crepe myrtle leaves are already coming down even though they are still green. The stress from the drought is wrecking havoc on the trees in this area.

Chap, I hope DH recovers quickly and you don't catch it.
Allikat, looks like it was a nice wedding and best wishes to your son and new DIL.
Summer went out with a bang yesterday topping at 88 degrees here. High today is 61 (currently 60). Looks like hoodie/fleece weather has instantly arrived. Some trees are already starting to change colors. You have to make sure you look because they go from green to pretty orange, yellow and red and then *poof* dead brown leaves all over and nekkid trees the next 5-6 months. I love fall while it lasts.

Great pics, allikat! Chap, that video is hilarious. It also does a great job of educating the public, IMO, and in a way folks might actually remember. ALL the kitties went wild last night during playtime. And I mean ALL - even Trixie. They were chasing each other and came flying up over the end of the sofa on multiple laps, then even used me as a launch pad on one lap. The last straw, though, was when they came flying up on the sofa from the front and accidentally clawed the heck of out my ankle and top of my foot. I'm on anticoagulants so I pretty much have to use a bandage for every scratch (more to protect clothing/upholstery than anything). I must have a dozen bandages on my leg (see? I didn't say Band Aid!). I yelled at the kitties, bandaged up my leg and foot and went to bed. I think the kitties felt guilty because they all 3 hopped up in bed with me and listened to the audiobook for a bit. I think I probably need to keep some larger bandages on hand with this crew. It might be a good idea to rearrange the living room furniture this weekend and get the sofa out of the flight plan On a brighter note, Little Miss WTF let me pick her up this morning. All I did was move her from one side of the bed to the other, but she didn't put up a fight, didn't fuss, didn't scratch me, didn't scamper off scared. Progress!

There must be something in the air. Miss Chanel AKA I Am Above Cat Antics got on a major running jag in the hall this morning chasing after a jingle ball. It was a total out of body experience for her. She is all about Siamese decorum and maintaining her aloof presence. Dickins and Diego did their best to stay out of her way and Terrell didn't know whether to join in or stay on his cat tree perch.

Well, it IS the first day of Fall. Maybe they know something we don't In fairness to Trixie, she has been joining in on the play for the past 2 months or so, but last night was the first night that all three of them were running around at the same time. It was Twila in the lead -she's speed of light fast, followed by Simon who is pretty fast but nothing like Twila, and then Trixie. But hey, I'm just glad that Trixie is playing with them.

Great photos, allikat! The DH is on Paxlovid and he's coughing but it's not in his chest, he's just stuffed up. He has regained his sense of humour but is kind of slowed down. Fortunately, he's up on symptoms to watch for. If I hear his cough getting worse I'll start bugging him, though. It's curious - a couple of years ago he designed the Covid-19 tracking database and UX for the community college where he works as a database admin, and now he said he got to use it from the POV of a subject, inputting his infection information. But it's so weird - we were together that entire day we were out, he got it and I didn't. Then, two days later I picked up a cold - it's garden variety, I feel crappy but not horrible. I've tested negative twice for Covid, but I'm keeping it cool, anyway. It's in the 50s here and dark - rain in the forecast next week and we're ready for it!

We're in the mid 90s here until Tuesday next week, then we finally get down in the 80s. OK, so it's the high 80s, but still 8 at the front is better than 9 at the front! That's assuming the forecast doesn't get changed before then, that is. Best part though is it looks like our nighttime temps are finally going to drop a bit next week too. Yay! That means it will be really nice to walk in the a.m., assuming I'll drag myself out of bed to walk

We have to deal with leaves from the neighbors’ trees. We got rid of our trees a few years back.
Many of the ash trees are dead around here though. But there are plenty of other trees. Wish the neighbors would get rid of their dead trees but I know it is $$$$$. The one guy has been doing a couple a year.
Alli the photos are great!
All the windows are wide open even though it is 50 here. There is a great breeze and I am allowing the doggy odors to move out the windows.
I applied for a school district job. A few issues with it but thinking I can push through them. I do not believe there is air conditioning. And of course, I do not really want day work but I can do 3-5 years standing on my head. I am not interested in a pension - need 10 years for that. Will squirrel away my money into their 403.

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck... now *I* have Covid. I took a test when the DH tested positive then again the night before last - all negative, out of 'an abundance of caution' and because I had a garden variety cold. then I got really ill last night - horrible cough, felt like pneumonia, bad body aches and almost couldn't get out of bed. I tested again - positive.
Hanging around waiting for a clinician to call so I can get on Paxlovid ASAP. The DH is doing well.

chapeaunoir - hope you feel better. This Covid is crazy, how it affects some and not others, how symptoms are all over the board and how some that take precautions still get it, while others do not. Just tired of it all, and it's not going to go away.

Fortunately I had help getting my shipping out today and I won't have to mess with it until Tuesday when I should be coming out of quarantine.
The symptoms are crazy - mine feels like bronchitis, my good friend just had a little cold. I started the Paxlovid already. No appetite, can't taste anything and I can't stop coughing. If I had tested yesterday and got right on the Paxlovid, I probably wouldn't have gotten so sick, but I had no idea and I *did* try to stay ahead of anything.
Balmy upper 50s here!

Guess I'm renewing my lease for another year. I just got my renewal letter and the rent is only going up $50. It went up $100 last year, and I fully expected it to go up another $100 this time. But nope, they only went up $50. I'm not complaining! Now I just have to find the email with the mail center code in it Although I suppose I could also just ask at the office tomorrow when I stop by to pick up some mail.

Our property taxes here are OUTRAGEOUS. My property taxes are going up over $700 next year - making the taxes over 4K a year on a 1400 square foot split level home in the midwest! If anything will drive DH and I to leave this area one day it's the property taxes.

Ours are close to $7k/year and it's not because our taxation rate is high, it's because housing costs here are stupid - we have a 1700 sqft split level and it's valued at almost $900,000. Whaaaa?? People are spending $600,000 on little crackerbox townhouses in our not exactly ritzy neighbourhood. Houses are now going for over a million and they're nothing special.

The sad part is my house is valued well under 300K, probably closer to 250K. A 900K house here is usually facing a tax burden of close to 20K a year!! And that is the older parts of town - the tax levy is nearly 3% in some of the newer neighborhoods. We bought in a slightly older neighborhood because despite the insane levy, these new neighborhoods are not annexed and you don't even get trash service! In some of the newer neighborhoods, the taxy levy is 3%! I suppose its all a trade off.

Can someone explain to me what is the big deal with hoodies? I'll see what looks like a cute top...then discover it's a hoodie. I get wearing the ones with a drawstring around the face in cold weather. It keeps the cold off your neck. But most of the ones I'm seeing now are more decorative hoodies and the hoodie would be useless on a cold day. So what's the big deal with them lately?

But most of the ones I'm seeing now are more decorative hoodies and the hoodie would be useless on a cold day. So what's the big deal with them lately? Why are Hoodies so popular? Hoodies have become a staple of the modern wardrobe, and they’re not going away anytime soon. This classic piece of clothing is not only for lazing around the house anymore. They are remarkably adaptable and can be worn in a variety of ways. In the winter, layer a hoodie under a striking coat to remain warm, use a hoodie to balance off a pair of statement jeans or combine it with a smart blazer. The list is endless. Not only are they in trend right now, but also they look fashionable and cool. Hoodies simply create an eye-catching look with so many hues and designs available in the collection. They are relatively cost-effective. Washing, maintaining, and having a hoodie that lasts long is also very easy. Hoodie, in a way, is a blessing in disguise because no one wants to wash and worry so much about clothes when working from home. fashinza.com/textile/fashion-industry/what-the-fashion-experts-say-about-the-upcoming-hoodies-trend/
