I am picking up 2 fosters this afternoon. Hopefully I can get them rehomed together as they are going to probably be very sad kittehs when they lose their first furever home.
Their owner is going into hospice with cancer and nobody in the family would take the cats.
The cats are both Ragdolls and are 11 years old. I am going into this as an independent foster which I don't like to do but I just couldn't turn away from this situation.
I have a feeling there is going to be a big sad this afternoon at 2:00.
Only ebay I will be doing is dropping off 2 packages at the post office on the way to pick up the kittehs.

Oh Kritter, that's a tough situation! I wish I could take them. I would take them to that hospice as often as I could! Sending you thoughts to keep you strong. You are so very compassionate!

Thank you for strong thoughts, Jellybean. I am sure that I will need them.
The owner is going into hospice in Brownsville where his mother lives so today will be the last day that he sees them. The sister told me last night that he is already very emotional about letting the cats go but there is no other choice.
My friend offered to go with me but she is a big wuss and was already tearing up on the phone talking about it. Probably best that I go along-the less people standing around the better.

I'm glad you are taking the girls Kritter. It's going to be hard on all of them but you will be giving the owner peace of mind knowing that they will be taken care of.
Bless you for doing this.

Thank you, Shirley.
I am not very emotional about most things but when animals are involved, I am a mess.
It is easier for me to take the responsibility of the cats then worry about them every night when I turn out the lights.
I can't help them all but I can help them one at a time or two at a time in this case.

That sucks about the kitties, Kritter. What use is family if they won't help in a time like this? The family member has enough to worry about without wondering about their cats.
Some families just plain suck.

Oh Kritter, how heartbreaking for that poor man and his kitties. Bless you for your work. It makes me so sad when I see animals that have had a home for so long suddenly without it. I always think that they must be so confused and my heart breaks for them. I know you will find a loving home for these babies.

I think this should be a reminder to all of us with pets that we need to have a plan in place for what will happen to them if we get seriously ill or die. Things have a way of happening when we least expect them to.
Not a pleasant think to think about, but it's as important as who will take over/close out our ebay business and our homes.

This man has a wife and a sister that I have been talking with and it has been so hard for me not to ask why they aren't stepping for their loved one. Probably more family but thats all I know about at this time for sure. You would at least think they would keep the cats in the family for the short term so that takes less stress off of him. the sister said that the hut won't do anything until he is sure the cats are taken care of.
Orange, the sisters will stay here until I am sure they could go to a new home together or one without the other. I am starting them out together by themselves and then slowly work them in with my other cats so they won't be as dependent on each other as they are now.
Homes won't be easy to find now anyway as we are in the first round of kitten season and all the rescues/shelters are full. Adopters always seem to want the kittens so they may be here awhile but thats OK. It will give them time to grieve.
Shirley, you are so right about making plans for pets. I think we all hope to outlive our pets but sometimes that just doesn't happen.

His own wife isn't keeping the cats? I guess they weren't family pets then. How sad for both her and the kitties. I'm glad these poor kitties have someone who cares and that the owner can say good-bye to his babies knowing they'll be safe and loved. It sounds as if that may not have been the case if someone in the family had kept them.

That is weird that is his wife won't keep them. Such a sad situation. I am not judging her because no one knows the situation but its just sad. I hope they find good homes.
We are looking for another dog. My DD found two that have been raised together, 6 & 8 year old black Labs. But we already have a dog and that wouldn't work out. I think it is a similar situation where the owner died. They are being fostered.

Wow. I didn't realize his wife is in the picture. I shouldn't judge her either but I would have a hard time leaving this world and making peace with my husband if I knew he was giving my dog away before I was even gone. :-( (Not that he would! He loves the dog as much as I do, just to clarify)

Well, we are home and Sabrina and Savannah are in the foster bedroom. Very sad situation that they are coming from and definitely better that they are out. The sister had the cats fully vetted yesterday although Sabrina was not cooperative with the vet at all. She appears to be a little standoffish with anybody but the owner. The sister couldn't take the cats because her husband said "no". The wife is much younger than the owner and appears to have some mental issues herself so not a good solution there either. I was being pretty judgmental myself until I walked in the door. I will probably start a thread over in the Critter section so you can see how pretty they are. Savannah has seal point brown markings and Sabrina has lilac point markings. Gorgeous huge cats with a ton of fur.

Dog had her semi annual appt. at the vet today. She had her Lepto shot, heartworm shot, sedated teeth cleaning, shear and bath and picked up 6 months of her flea/tick treatment. Almost $500 later she's a little groggy still but has shiny white teeth and her summer haircut. Sometimes I think she's more expensive than the kids are.
Now I need to list to get the money back she cost today. Good thing she's so cute.
Also got a bunch of brush and part of an old building out back burned and listed some pjs I bought today so it was a pretty productive day.

Kritter, that's so wonderful of you to look after those kitties. I hope they find a wonderful furever home where everyone loves them. I took my mom to see her BFF, she's in an assisted living facility across town. They met in high school (class of '47) and have been close ever since. Jean has dementia and doesn't talk much anymore, but her face lights up when she sees Mom . And we took cupcakes (lemon, key lime, and chocolate mint). Old friends and cupcakes, doesn't get much better than that!

"Old friends and cupcakes, doesn't get much better than that!"
Yep, that is about as good as it gets, isn't it?
Thank you, Denise and ahrn.
I think the owner will rest easier from now on knowing that he found a solution for "his girls".
They are still hiding behind the couch in the foster bedroom but that is to be expected. This is a big adjustment for them and they can have all the time that they need to mourn their other life.

I had the day off today but I woke up to a missed call asking if I would come in. I really, really needed a day off and I have had 8 to 10 hours of overtime a week for over two months so I decided just to pretend I didn't hear that voicemail. I talked to a co-worker later in the day and it was super slow today and I wasn't really needed which took the guilt of not going in off my shoulders. Then, a bit before lunch time the bank across the street from the one I work at was robbed! A very brazen robbery as this bank sits right on the street in a plaza wit a super busy grocery store and a Dollar Tree. To top it off there is road construction right in front of the bank and only one lane is open! I don't know if they were stupid or if they have you know what of steel. Needless to say we will be on super high alert tomorrow.
In good news, I went to Dunk Donuts and had an iced coffee. I don't know if it is nationwide or not but the ones here have any size iced coffee for 99 cents from 3 to 6. I hit 2 thrifts and found a pair of Lilly P shorts in a 12 that should do well and found a melmac set my mom will love for mothers day. Then I met DBF for dinner at a little pizza joint that has been around from the 50s.

I don't think your Paypal e-check has cleared. There seems to be an issue.

The piano was free with purchase of the skirt. Are you one of those buyers that is not reading the entire listing like those sellers on those chat boards talk about with disdain?

I WAS trying to help you Kitter, by denying all knowledge of any piano discussion, since Denise said she had witnesses on the thread.
Geez.
Last time I help you weasel out of something.
**flounces out of discussion** ***stalks out of discussion***
(if one returns it wasn't a properly executed flounce)

Is a piano skirt anything like a bed skirt?
