Sitting here waiting. The rain and snow has held off a bit so we might be ok. Will have to see. Calling for a bit of snow now and then rain around 10.

In the process of putting myself together. Going to hit a handful of stores in Scottsdale. Never know how this will shake out. Hopefully it'll be worth my time.

Housebound today. We had early rain and now there's a freezing drizzle. Temps are supposed to go way down so now the roads will be slick, but at least sanded. It's the sidewalks and parking lots we need to worry about, including our own walks, deck, and driveway. Just threw ice melt out on the front area. Glad that there are no deliveries coming today or tomorrow. It's tiring.

67 and sunny this morning so I plan to head out to the backyard for some plant therapy before the cold front blows through this afternoon.
I am dumping DirectTV streaming because they just keep going up $10 at a time. I joined a free trial of Philo last night and immediately got caught up in The 1,000 Sisters shows. Will probably stick with Philo because they have all the programs that I watch on DirecTV except one for $35 which beats the pants off DirecTV.

What a waste of money - and all spent for ego. Think what a difference that guy could have made in the world had he used that money to help others.

Belks is shipping an order to me that weighs 46 lbs by USPS. WTH?? It's going to take forever to get here. They should have shipped it UPS Ground, it would have been faster AND cheaper. Oh well, it's their money since I got free shipping on the order.

46 lbs.? How much do those sham stuffing pillows weigh?
Here's a video with Uncle Roger giving his commentary during part of The One video that made me laugh a lot (and I agree with him which made it even funnier):

46 lbs.? How much do those sham stuffing pillows weigh? LOL! The order includes two sham pillows, a set of 7 lb dumbbells and a set of 15 lb dumbbells.

Will probably stick with Philo because they have all the programs that I watch on DirecTV except one for $35 which beats the pants off DirecTV. I got caught up in this 2 season, 9 episodes in each season series called Full Disclosure (Solo per Amore). It's set in Italy, villa on the outskirts of Rome, drama all the way w/drug dealing, killings, cheating, fancy cars, horses, country clubs, and all that. Only thing was that it was all in Italian, and I had to use the closed caption because I don't understand that language. Then it got too hard to read the screen across the room so I had to switch to my laptop to watch it. Couldn't let it go, had to watch it all and I never watch this type of thing. So glad it's over with, but would watch another season if they had it. I got too involved with these characters and I never do that. Direct TV around here is a rip-off if you go with the regular, they make you sign a 2-year contract. The streaming Direct TV is 64.00 a month to start with no contract, but then they raise it. Our cable TV service Spectrum offers streaming for 24.99 a month, new customers only, but then they do the same, they raise it up. I still need to get our programing straightened out.

I started with AT&T Now and then it merged or whatever with DirecTV Now and it is now up to $84 or some such nonsence with my next billing. No contract with Philo either.
Philo doesn't have news, locals, or sports but I can do without those since I don't watch them anyway. I was checking around on Philo but then got stuck on the Sisters show but so far I am OK with what they have. That show is a big incentive to stick with healthy eating for sure.

I have subscriptions to CBS, Netflix, Hulu, Acorn, Prime and BritBox. All of those combined are still considerably cheaper than any cable plan and there are lots of programs I haven't even touched yet. I do sometimes sign up for the Hallmark channel for month, catch up on the few shows I watchh and any new movies, and then cancel it before the next month's billing

The sun is out - it's SUNNY OUT! We've hardly seen it since October. Guess I'll join all the other sun-drunk people roaming around outside since the rains and clouds are back tomorrow. Only downside is that when it cleared out overnight the temperature dropped so there's frozen water everywhere there is shade.

We had some SERIOUS thunderstorms last night! The house was rattling and the lightning was lighting it up like daylight. We haven't had storms that severe in years! Poor Janey was not a happy camper I heard there was at least one tornado and lots of street flooding and wind damage. So we are lucky with that, we didn't even lose power. It was yucky humid and drippy this morning but we are supposed to get a cold front.
We were talking about cable/satellite/streaming at brunch yesterday. Two of the ladies just cancelled cable to go streaming only. We have Dish and are under contract until July 2023, we pay $70 a month. That's pretty much the cheapest you can find if you are not a new customer. I hate to go streaming only because DH is such a tv guy. I have Ooma for my house phone and pay $7 and change a month and Comcast internet but I don't rent the equipment and pay $50 a month for that. We stream Netflix and do the dvd's by mail and have DD's Amazon and Hulu and DS's HBO so we have a ton of selection on what to watch. If we didn't have their streaming we might add something. If Dish went up this year I was seriously thinking of cancelling but they said they could keep it the same.
But they've had a dispute with CBS for 2 months now and it's really irritating to have to switch to the antenna and not be able to pause. I guess we've gotten spoiled lol.

I'm still trying to get my jaw up to meet the top of my mouth: youtu.be/_H2xmRseiDw I dislike that house and could never live in it. It's now in foreclosure, and then he filed bankruptcy to avoid the foreclosure. What a friggin' waste of everything. Stay - I saw a kitchen in the first video, there were 5 built-in ovens across the wall. The only areas I liked were the pool areas and the skywalk. Just too much excess. How did he ever think he could keep paying on this? A million dollars per day in mortgage payments. www.youtube.com/watch?v=SFas6UkMPBU Foreclosure Video www.youtube.com/watch?v=tdpZ8Iue57U Bankruptcy Video, latest video is from Dec 21, 2021 on his plans to save the house.

Desire- the kitchen was the one "nobody will use" with the fancy built-in Meile coffee machine in the counter. The "restaurant kitchen" downstairs was blocked off and not done, but the main kitchen wasn't shown.
I wouldn't live in that, either, and think he should have kept his fantasy on paper instead of blowing millions he was unable to pay back on a home with very few buyers who can afford it let alone pay for upkeep.

I have Comcast cable here, which is my TV, landline and internet. And it is $200 a month. I like the local channels, and never watch movies, since I am always behind in watching my recorded prime time TV shows.
We almost had Verizon internet here, but about 7 years ago, they were digging to install the cable lines, hit a gas line and blew up a house. That was a mile from me and I heard the explosion. So now Verizon has been banned from my township.
Ironically, the last time I had my car in the shop for an inspection, the service guy is the grandson of the couple whose house exploded. I was happy to hear that they did survive.
So as far as cable, I am stuck with Comcast. However, my Comcast cell phone plan uses Verizon lines and is half the price of Verizon's cell service.

We have Comcast but use the app on the Roku. We also pay for Philo, Discovery plus and we have Amazon Prime. Rarely use Discovery plus or prime though. I wore my Icebugs to work today. Driveway was still icy. It was fine at work. I have to put the insoles in them though. Forgot and I need to have them. I wear uniform shoes at work so I only had them on a few minutes. I really like them. After I bought new ones, I found a pr on ebay. So I have black ones for outdoors at work and mulberry ones for going places. icebug.com/p/metro2-w-bugrip-r-f13004-9aThey also make running shoes, etc. Some have studs and some don't. $$$$ but you can get them on ebay for cheap time to time. It is still raining here. Ugly weather. Supposed to be ok until after I get home but hubby is going north to Scranton tomorrow morning and it is supposed to be icy.

Those Icebug running shoes might be good for off road running, too - our trails get very slimy due to the clay-y mud so many of them have, then you get the ice puddles. Ugh.
We don't watch TV here (I used to watch it years ago, though), just videos and sometimes stream sports - we don't really have much TV reception locally due to the terrain. The DH had a serious TV addiction that made living in our flat in London miserable. From the time we got home from wherever we had gone for the day, until bedtime, that damned thing would be on with his attention completely on it, including eating dinner in front of it. A small flat, I couldn't get away from it. When I threatened to move out and find a room to hire he got earphones. Then he finally stopped watching it so much. I can take a little - I just put sound-canceling headphones on so I don't have to hear it, and a few shows I enjoy watching, but not hour after hour - it drives me loony.

I had so many errands to run today because my lazy butt didn't leave the house yesterday. I am in shock at how much the price of everything is going up and how bare some of the aisles are again.
First, I went to Dunkin Donuts for a refresher. A large used to be $3.17 and it was $3.72 today. Okay, certainly not a necessity so whatever.
I had to run to Dollar General for some Pinalen cleaner, since they are the only place to consistently carry it around me. It is great! If you haven't tried it, it can be used in your laundry and is great for stinky wicking fabric workout clothes and bath towels. Also had a $2 off digital coupon for Tide so I used that. Pinalen was still $5 so good deal there. Also grabbed a bottle of Lysol counter spray for $2.75 so decent but not great.
Because my car has a autopilot mode which you cannot override, it drove itself right to GW. Found a few nice things to sell, a vintage Halloween doll which will be a gift, and a vintage ashtray for my patio. I don't smoke but occasionally have guests who do. GW prices were as they always are, all over the place, lol. The cashier was so upbeat and friendly though which was nice!
Next, I try to go to the Asian market to stock up on some pantry items. The parking lot was a disaster. People had parked all over the place in spots that were not even spaces. I almost get hit 3 times trying to find a spot. I left my patience at home so I give up on this mission and will return in a weekday evening.
Next, I join 42 of my friends in line at the Costco gas station so I can sign over my whole paycheck for a tank of gas. Luckily, a tank lasts me two weeks. Still, bleh. Line moved fast to be as busy as it was.
Next, I go to Menards for a few things. They have no 3 prong extension cords in the length I need. In fact, they barely have any 3 prong cords. Ugh. I realize I forgot the microwave lightbulb that was burnt out. I always have to take it with me to get the right one, lol. They are having a sale where you fill a bag and get 15% of your items. I find the Zep grout cleaner I saw on Tik Tok. Yes, Tik Tok. I have went down the rabbit hole of #cleantok and it is wonderfully mesmerizing. It was almost $7 but I chuck it in my bag anyways. I also decide I need a brush for the grout. Grab that and see another nice brush so I chuck that in my bag. I also decide I need some industrial strength Zep kitchen cleaner to see if it will get my stove clean. Well, the oven needs a cleaning so I chuck in some over cleaner, all of which is near $5 a bottle. Ooof. My cart makes a stop down another aisle and there is Christmas galore. It literally looks as if maybe their trucks with Christmas items did not come in until after the holiday. At 50% off plus an extra 15% two red velvet trees come home with me. Somehow I manage to spend nearly $60 on cleaning stuff and Christmas trees.
I finally make it to Walmart for some groceries and specific items I was looking for that had Ibotta rebates. The frozen food section at every local store has been depleted lately. Frozen fries are a commodity. The fruits and veggies were somewhat better but still a bit sparse. I needed a container of Oxiclean white revive. It's over $8 and used to be around $6 rather recently. At least in my area, cleaning supplies seem well stocked but the prices are climbing quite quickly. The bread section also looked as if a snowstorm was coming, but it isn't. Again, every store has been like this lately. I did manage to get my Thomas cinnamon raisin bread though. I also picked up a few pantry staples but my goodness it is just all so expensive lately! And meat, oh my, don't get me started on meat!

I had so many errands to run today because my lazy butt didn't leave the house yesterday. I am in shock at how much the price of everything is going up and how bare some of the aisles are again. I almost choked on the price of the blueberries in S&S last week, $7.99 for a small container. I just shook my head, I won't pay that. They're usually 4.99 and were frequently on sale for 3.99. Shelves were half bare in so many spots of the store too. At least during the middle of COVID back in 2020 the shelves were bare of many essentials but the prices were still OK and gas and oil were reasonable. It's a mess.

pyrexandpearls - your post was a goldmine of great suggestions for cleaners (we really need to work on the grout) - thank you! The parking lot at the Asian store - OMG, it's like the parking lot at the post office here - people lose their minds and do the stupidest stuff, and in the ice and rain it's even worse.
Everything is expensive here, so prices that make people in other parts of the country gasp it's like "Eh...yeah." But I have noticed higher prices for certain. I remember inflation in the late 70s (over 12%) when prices went up so quickly that I'd see piles of price stickers on stuff from the stockers repricing them so quickly (usually canned goods). Yeah, of course our paycheck didn't go up.
Going to the GW tag sale tomorrow - not sure I'll find anything. I had to turn over the entire large store to find four items last time. I'm not buying much these days, though. I WILL check kitchenwares, though!

That was one of the silver linings of my divorce and why I don't watch TV at all these days. If ex was awake, the TV was on. He could read or work while he was watching it! I paid for a year of cable the first year I was in this apartment and watched it less than 1/2 dozen times so got rid of it and the TV. Two years ago, my daughters said they were getting me a TV for Mother's Day. I said no, and they didn't, but last year during my recovery from my surgery, they decided they would get it for me. I've had it on less than a dozen times, and that includes the times they were here with me during my recovery. I hate the stand that it's on--it doesn't go with my furniture. I bought it on-line and had to guess at the color, and I missed big time. It's actually the second one I bought, and my daughter was going to return the first one but found out it would be $100 to ship it back so she tried to sell it locally with no luck. So this TV that I don't watch, or like the look of, has cost me about $400!

When my TV is on, it is mostly for background noise. I don't just sit down and watch TV although the last two nights I have gotten wound up in trash TV with my Philo subscription. Not interested in series TV shows or binge watching them at all.
Did cancel my DirecTV subscription today and now down from $85 to $28 plus found a whole new world in OMG TV.
