I told my boss about the folks from my group who expressed interest in our positions. She agreed with me that if they can't read and follow one simple direction, she doesn't want to talk to them either, unless they're our only choices. Thank goodness they aren't. I have 3 Zoom calls tomorrow to screen the ones who did follow directions

While doing my shipping this morning I found stain on something so I treated and re washed. Looks like it come out but I'd rather not make another post office run today (it sold last night). Wondering if I can stick the package in the mail box with the flag up?

Why not just drop it off with tomorrow's PO run?

I have a one day handling and it sold last night so it needs to go today. Just made a quick run since I needed to stop at Food City for tater tots Dumb question since I rarely return things. Are free returns a thing of the past? Bought something from Ann Taylor loft and need to send back. Looks like they're going to charge me for return shipping.

A lot of stores will let you print out a return shipping label but will deduct a specific set amount (6.95 - 7.95) from your return credit. If the item is lightweight and the return center is in a zone near you, you can sometimes purchase your own First Class label and save dollars. But with the increases in USPS shipping, the store-generated shipping labels are now probably cheaper to use if the item is a bit heavier. Macy's still offers free return shipping, you just print out their free label after you check off what items you want to return. It's the easiest site for returns besides Amazon.

Depends on the site where you have bought the item from. Some sites still give free returns but you need to check it out before you purchase.

It's $7.95 oh well. Thought about selling them on Ebay as they're sold out but I don't want to remove them from the package to photo and a stock photo isn't an option.

The rain has paused for a bit and with the sun out people are very chipper! Given the number of people clustered at little tables and benches outside every coffee house, eatery and pub, plus walking around, in every neighbourhood and district I went through on my way down to Seattle, I have a feeling more than a few people skived off work for the afternoon. It doesn't seem to matter at all that you have to wear a parka and hat - the whole thing is sitting outside when it is not blowing and raining, guzzling coffee, beer and wine, eating, etc. The reason for going into town (which I usually avoid until the light rail opens way up where I am), was to pick up my espresso machine - it's 50 years old, no longer made and the couple of places I asked said they couldn't do it. I should have gone to this little hole in the wall shop down in town that has been there for years. The super nice guy fixed it and overhauled it for me, and we chatted for quite a while about this and that. It's about $1500+ to replace something like this and he fixed it for $135. An old friend gave me this machine. Behold! (I'm an espresso hound in case you can't tell lol).

Two adult cats and 3 kittens delivered to adopters in Seattle today.
We have 5 kittens left and I am going to try and get them adopted here because plane fare between here and Seattle after next week is horrid expensive.
After these 5 are gone we are hopefully done for awhile.

Very nice espresso machine, Chap!
I'm happy 5 furry friends have new homes in Seattle, kritter. At least you were able to deliver all 5 in one trip.
Looks like our 26+ year old oven needs replacing. Set it on 350 to preheat while I prepared stuffed peppers, opened the oven and it was still cold. At least the burners all work. I put in maintenance request so hope we get another one since I doubt after this long parts are still available.

It was touch and go a couple of hours before the flight. One of the adults was scheduled to ride in the temperature controlled part while the other 4 were in the cabin. The airline called and said that their temp controlled space wasn't working right so Gwen couldn't ride there.
So I bought a ticket for Gwen. Thank goodness there were open seats that she could ride under. They all got there safely and were finally united with their adopters.

Mistletoes is so cute - I love when kittens/cats have white paws- It's like they're dressed up, like they have their socks on.

Omg the kitties are adorable! How fun to open this thread and see those little faces
Well it's been downright hot here! Yesterday we hit 87 which was apparently broke a record from when they started keeping records in 1819. When I woke up this morning (at 4 am!) it was 78 degrees and felt like 80. Wow. I mean fall/winter is mild here, but that is July weather And this evening I am making cookies for mom's visit tomorrow, not feeling very festive about it with this weather. A cold front tomorrow, but I want to hit a few garage sales in the morning and won't have time to make cookies then. Since I see mom every Saturday with my sister I haven't been able to get to any. In the spring I will have to see about that but my sister is changing jobs soon and we may end up going on a different day so I won't worry about it right now.
I like Old Navy, they offer free return shipping, you just print the label and drop it at the PO. I don't usually have to return a lot, but sizes vary even among a single brand so it's good to have that option.
When I was growing up in the suburbs we had a mailbox at the curb and you put the flag up for the outgoing mail. The mail carrier would drive up to the box and they had a stick thing they would open it with and also use to insert your mail. Now that I live in the city proper, I have a box right next to my door. I am so spoiled, I love it lol. I don't have to be dressed, it doesn't matter the weather, I can snake my arm out and fetch it. I clip outgoing mail to the box with a clothes pin. I've never put out a package without doing a pick up, I don't think they would pick it up, or even look twice at it. The mail carriers do not go above and beyond here at all. But then again they have to do a TON of walking in this climate, so I can't really blame them.

I am even more spoiled that you are. I have a mail slot by my front door that goes into my living room. I don't have to open the door to get my mail. Lots of walking for mail carriers in my area too.

Jealous! I'd love to not have to walk out to get the mail. Especially since the neighbors directly across the street have about 6 security cameras. Now I feel like I have to be "put together" to walk outside and get the dang mail. Some days that's really not easy to pull off.

Y'all are lucky. I have to go down 18 stairs our small, narrow mailbox in the lobby wall. Sometimes, the mail totally crunched up. Hate when cleaning person comes to clean whenever and throws out everything in the trough under the boxes because they'll throw out everything, including new mail like sales flyers or the monthly neighborhood booklets with businesses and coupons that we haven't seen in 2 months. Pisses me off to no end, especially when they clean more than one building and it doesn't dawn on anyone if there are a dozen of anything, it's new mail and give tenants a chance to see it first. Packages usually get left on the floor, but sometimes we get a carrier who will make the effort and leave in front of our apartment doors.

And I have to walk about 50 yards down to my mailbox that is along my road. When it is icy and cold, that isn't fun. The box is on a little bank and when it is icy, I have to hang onto the box, and slide down the bank to get to the front of the box. As the cars whiz by and splash slush on me.
My carriers have the little trucks so they drive from box to box.
My mailbox is big, so I can fit a lot in it.

I also have to walk out to get the mail - it's down at the end of our road (I live at the other end) and across the main road (which is also a little road). If my neighbours have security cameras, they just have to put up with my shlepping out in my old plaid bathrobe and wellies with the purple pawprints on them. If I knew they had cameras I might wave.

Oh wow, I always wished I could have one of those mail slots. Have seen them on TV shows sometimes. One house we had the flat type mail box attached to the house siding, that was about 40 years ago. Everything after that is a mailbox on a wooden post at the end of the driveway on the grass somewhere. I hate walking out to the mailbox here, especially if it's snowing/storming. I've driven out a few times and circled around when the driveway was icy and not sanded, to avoid falling and breaking my neck. But I get it Bliss, I feel like my neighbors directly across the street are always watching us, and I know they have cameras too. The guy is OK but she's a real nut-case.

We have a mailbox at the curb. The new thing around here is a central mailbox in a development. Everyone has to go to the multi-mailbox stand to get their mail.

My daughter is lucky since her mailbox is right beside her front door on her enclosed porch. So any packages are hidden from view from the sidewalk. But she mails out so many packages a day that she usually goes to the PO or UPS.

A tree fell down in the current storm blowing in and took out the power for our neighbourhood. Again. I saw a flash from the back window and everything went dark. City Light must be getting tired of us: "It's those people in that danged backwoods again!" Lol. It's like a swamp in here with all the rain, and things fall over. It's getting down towards the 30s and I'm holed up on my study which is the warmest room in the house.
Speaking of neighbors, my running friend has a batsh*t neighbour who runs out every time she sees him walk by. She's a religious nutcase and wants him to "debate" with her on YouTube. She buttonholes him in the street and starts bludgeoning him with talking points. My poor friend is gentlemanly and hates having to just walk away, but nothing else works. He's taken to sprinting off when he sees her. Since he runs about a billion miles a week he not only has a fast getaway, but she can't tell that he's avoiding her.

Tornados touched down in our area, but not in our town. We are on one side of St. Louis. Edwardsville, IL, is on the other side. An Amazon warehouse was hit there. So far, two confirmed deaths. They don’t know the whereabouts of many others. They may have left before the storm hit. It is very sad. Hoping for the best for all the workers.

Had a severe t-storm roll through last night just after 10 pm. Not any real damage, just a bunch of tree limbs down. More of a mess than damage. Gale warnings until 6 pm tonight.
They had a real bad tornado in Kentucky last night. Anyone here from around there? Prayers that everyone is well.
