Stay, maybe you and DH should do future holiday dinners at your place, just the two of you, then go over to whatever relative has attempted a dinner and bring a desert.
I've suggested that, but DH thinks it would be insulting to not want to spend it there, especially since it's only elderly MIL and SIL. It makes DH happy and it's just a few crappy holiday meals a year so not a big deal. I'll see if my IGA has markdown turkey pieces and make my own so edible turkey and cold turkey sandwich is still a possibility.
We got a dusting of snow, currently 29 and with windchill feels like 18 degrees. To those in warmer states, enjoy.

Maybe you should offer to fix dinner next time. It's pretty bad when someone can't even follow directions on reheating a fully cooked, prepared meal. Yikes!

I agree with him. If nobody is rushed to the hospital with food poisoning than it is all good.
No harm, no foul.

ho ho no. I'll report on the Bob Turkey when I eat a bit more of it. Leg was fine but the true test will be some breast tonight.
At least you had an edible leg. We had fully cooked turkey that was supposed to be reheated 250-300 degrees for 90-120 minutes that was in the oven for at least 3 hours at 350. Enough said. That would make a great mulch!

It might have come to that. I happened to be there when the frozen meal was delivered and MIL wanted SIL to put the turkey on the enclosed porch to thaw. She was actually going to do it until I pointed out it would be 45 degrees the next 2 days and the turkey would turn into a bacteria factory, especially when Thanksgiving was 4 days away. smh
I have actually gotten sick from eating over there before and believe it's from leaving food out too long in less than optimal temps. And I'm not the only one, so I've very careful what I eat there, which is usually nothing if I can help it.

Just was reminded that I really could leave turkey behind. Not a big fan of it.

If it's National Cake Day, would it be acceptable to celebrate with a cupcake instead? Even though cupcakes have their own day on December 15th.

I miss Mom's turkey on Thanksgiving, goose on Christmas and duck on Easter. I used to tell her to make sure the bird had a big butthole so she could put more stuffing inside, LOL. There is nothing like stuffing from inside the bird (and she made the stuffing from scratch). She made candied yams (or sweet potatoes, forget which) covered in extra mini marshmallows because I'd pilfer some marshmallows because I hate yams/sweet potatoes and DH would squeal on me to Mom and we'd all laugh. I so miss those days and wish I'd got her recipe for that stuffing. Once Mom could no longer cook, the fun stopped there. It was also funny when DH first started coming over he was trying to be polite and not eat a lot even though you could tell he wanted more. We had to keep telling him if he wanted more to help himself, which he eventually went to seconds and thirds. I had to keep telling him the more you ate, the bigger the compliment to my Mom that her meal was good. He sure learned not to disappoint her! Afterwards, "It" and her only friend would sit at the kitchen table, Dad would go to his room to work on his stamps or trying to figure out the system to win the lottery and Mom, DH and I would go in the living room to chat and digest. DH would fall asleep and start snoring and Mom and I would laugh, then he'd finally wake up and deny he fell asleep.
Ahhh, the memories.

So my aforementioned guy who wants to buy a boy's large jacket for himself was writing constantly. I told him that Dick's Sporting Goods sometimes has the brand. I finally blocked him on MP.
But he found me on Mercari. Blocked again when he wrote to me below.
well I didn't see anything from dicks sporting goods but I would like to try this jacket on for a chance once Santa Claus sees it on messager

Denise, that's one weird jacket stalker! Good luck shaking him off. He doesn't make since with this Santa Claus references.

If he believes in Santa Claus, maybe he believes Santa can turn the jacket into a size that will fit him.

He kept writing to me while I was watching my grandson, who still "kind of" believes.
This dude even sent me a pic of Santa's pic on messenger.

Great memories, Stay! I recall one Thanksgiving we were all at a cousin's very small house, and it was so crammed with like 35 of us, that we had the table backed up against the living room windows and you had to crawl under the table to get to your seat. We younger folk and the kids took the window seats (where we would crawl under the table to get to the bathroom, etc., and no one minded if you popped your head out next to them trying to get out) and the elders and those who had to get to the kitchen took the other, more accessible seats. I remember once one of the kids started to try to work his way along the backs of people crammed against the windows and his mom saying "Patrick! Climb under the table like you're supposed to!"

Disgraceful. When you absolutely, positively don't care if it gets there. Someone had other things to do and didn't need this stinkin' job. A good candidate for a grand larceny conviction and a long meth break.

My "smokey pink" haircolor faded to next to nothing, so I colored my hair today with Dusty Mauve. It came out Vivid Violet Fortunately these colors fade a LOT after the first several washings so it should be the color I want in a week.

What I miss from the good old days of big family dinners is the ham. We always had turkey and ham. I love ham. I miss ham. Aldi's sold a 1/4 spiral ham section for $2.99/lb. I picked one up and used the glaze packet provided with it. My sister quite enjoyed it. My taste buds have changed since the surgery and there are very few things I really like now so my opinion doesn't count for much food-wise.

somany - that may be partially age mediated. Both my dad and myself lost our appetites as we've gotten older. We still like a good meal, but fill up quickly, and most of time time just eat so we're not hungry rather than any other reason. No one on that side of the family (including myself) has lost our taste for good liquor, though (though with me it's only beer and I get snockered on two glasses lol).
ETA: We just kind of lost interest in eating save for special occasions, and can't/couldn't be relied upon much to give our opinions on how something tasted.

Most ham is just too high in sodium, and I don't miss it bad enough to eat it and suffer the side effects.
