Good morning, everyone! Cold, overcast here but no precipitation in liquid, solid or in between form so that's a good thing. Hope everyone has a great day and Thanksgiving!

I started with a sore throat yesterday, so no happy about it since we have TG plans at our friends house. Went to WM and bought a bag full of pre-cold stuff, cold stuff, lozenges, vit c mix and I'm taking elderberry syrup. Feeling completely fine now but I know how this usually shakes out and it's not good. Fingers crossed that nasal congestion isn't next.

It seems youngest DD would get sick every year around one holiday or another. I remember pharyngitis right before Christmas, bronchitis on Easter, diarrhea on Halloween, an abscessed tooth on the 4th of July. It always seems worse when you are sick on a holiday.
We had a nice visit with mom on Saturday. The weather was lovely and she LOVED the home made cheesecake. She is really looking forward to coming here for Thanksgiving. They are saying an 80% chance of rain, hopefully it won't be too bad with street flooding, etc.
I think we hit 80 yesterday but a cool front overnight bought cool and sunny weather with a nice breeze. But I think it's a warm front Wed, then a cool front Thurs. It gets tiresome with the back and forth but I guess we as used to it as you can get. I guess we should be grateful it doesn't just get cold and stay that way.
VV announced the Black Friday half off sale so I'm stoked about that. They are opening at 8 instead of 6. I guess most people would appreciate sleeping later but I like to get an early start

I would make an appointment to get tested. Peace of mind. People getting Covid that are fully vaccinated. Holiday week…

Still feel completely fine. Been taking a variety of different OTC meds since the onset yesterday. If the runny nose doesn't show I'm sure I'll be fine.

You might also consider getting tested for COVID, since the symptoms are the same as a cold in vaccinated individuals.

Probably in the minority but I've yet to need/get one covid test... ever. All of my senses are definitely working. All the window open and someone has been burning something outside for quite a few hours. It stinks in here.

Teslas....I had no idea what the big deal was about them. Until I saw my friend's Tesla today. She asked me to stop by since she got me a gift (no idea why, since we never exchanged gifts). She is the one who lives in the house designed by Frank Lloyd Wright.
Anywho, there are no instrument panel anythings....just a large TV screen like a laptop screen. Everything is done on there....even shows a picture of a cracking fireplace. In her car...on the screen. WTH?
I still maintain that Elon should pay his fair share of taxes.... But the car!

Meanwhile someone on a local page was searching for a place to replace a Tesla tire. Fortunately someone just went through that and knew where to send her. Dealership didn’t have tires.

I have a friend who had a Tesla. She only kept it a few years before selling it. It was fun to get to ride in it.

Two coworkers thought they just had a cold. Never lost their sense of smell, just congestion/sore throat with one, sore throat/coughing with the other.
They got tested because they couldn't go in the office without a negative test (company rules).
Both tested positive.
It happens more often than you might think.

A bunch of Teslas got locked down due to software glitches. Stupid cars IMHO*, though they do have good pickup.
*When they're tethered to a central activation system like that.

My friend, Bev told me that when she gets into her car, she has to check for software updates. Wonder if Teslas can be hacked?
Give me my Honda any day.

Logically it seems any car with a computerized component could be hacked. I did my Thanksgiving food shopping Sunday so I wouldn't have to go to the grocery store until the end of the weekend. Thanksgiving dinner will be Spinach Madeline stuffed chicken breast, fresh asparagus and probably sauteed cabbage. With "campfire apple" bake from the HEB kitchen. And of course, whipped cream on top of the apple bake. I had the jambalaya stuffed whole chicken last year, from the same company that makes the stuffed chicken breast. It was really good but did not reheat very well at all, so I opted for the smaller chicken breasts this year. If it's anything like last year's chicken, it will be really good. What's for dinner at your house?

My friend thought he had a head cold. Able to smell and taste. You know I thought I had a head cold too. On day 6 I lost taste and smell and then I knew. Maybe it's best to get a test as a precaution. I got the at home kit from Pixel labs and insurance pays if you have it, if not the government covers it. Quick and easy.

What's for dinner at your house? Sounds like a cozy meal We are traditionalists here and I am roasting a turkey, cornbread dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, rolls. DD is bringing brussel sprouts, a vegan broccoli casserole, and some type of vegan meat for herself. DIL is sending her wonderful mac and cheese. Desserts are dutch apple pie, pecan pie, home made vanilla ice cream, and brown butter chocolate chip blondies as DD is not a pie person.
Tomorrow is baking cornbread and desserts day. And chopping onions and celery for the dressing. Sometimes I have a bit of wine to keep my company
The weather is supposed to be mild tomorrow, but pretty much 100% chance of rain on Thanksgiving. Hopefully not too severe. I am looking forward to the Macy's parade, it was good they had it last year, but it wasn't the same.

That sounds like a yummy meal Val. We're doing our traditional traditional meal with roast turkey & stuffing, mashed spuds & gravy. 2 kinds of cranberry- sauce & cranberry orange relish (my favorite!!) Veggies, rolls, and pie for dessert. I make green tomato mincemeat every few years and can it so a mincemeat pie is included in desserts. This year I'm going to make a hard sauce for the mincemeat pie like my Mom & Grandma always used to make- Pioneer Woman has one that sounds like the one I remember. We'll be a small group. I feel terrible not inviting my brother but he chose to not do the vax; weather forecast shows a wet Thursday so hanging around outside with him isn't really an option this year. We'll get together another time.
Yay, it's National Dr Who day! I'll wear my Tardis earrings if I can find them :-)

Sounds yummy! I used to do the whole turkey thing and eat off leftovers for days, but my tastes have changed since I went reduced sodium and most brined turkey is too salty tasting. One year in PHX I was able to find a lower sodium turkey breast that I cooked in the crock pot and it was awesome. But here, low sodium anything is hard to find. The stuffed chicken has no info but is probably in the moderate range, based on the info I could find on some of their other stuffed chicken options. Plus I don't have to eat leftovers for days (which hold no appeal now given I don't eat sandwiches, but I really do miss the after Thanksgiving turkey sandwiches!!). Hmnn, I do have some wine in the fridge. I'll have to add that to dinner. Thanks for the idea! We're supposed to be 65 on Thursday. It looks like a cold front will be moving in mid-day Thursday and even chillier for the rest of the holiday weekend. Works for me!

I bought a turkey breast and am currently roasting veggies, which I will eat for days. I like the refrigerated Bob Evans mashed potatoes, or I might make some. Since my daughter's guy friend won't get the vaccine, I won't go to her house.
I don't know if my daughter will bring anything over to me on Thursday or wait until she brings Jaxson here on Friday since he doesn't have school. The last time I talked to her, she didn't know if my grandson would be with his idiot father for a few hours or not.
He hasn't had Jaxson since mid-Sept.
Since I finally realized that my bad foot problems were caused by my eating foods high in folic acid, (my chemo causes that problem), I have to be careful what I eat.

Two of the three little feral kittens left today leaving the little tabby here. The two will be spayed/neutered tomorrow and returned to the house where their mom and brother are. The tabby, KandyKane didn't make her weight so she won't go until next week if I can add at least 4 ounces to her body.
We have a blind tuxedo adult kitty at the vet now getting checked out. She was found Sunday by a resident but we didn't get the call until last night late so she was picked up this morning. I suspect she was dumped as blind cats don't go wondering out a front or back door and loose themselves either on purpose or by accident. She is friendly, thank goodness, so apparently was somebody's cat. I already have one blind feral cat and do not need another one.

Happy Who Day!!
We're having a traditional T'giving day - someone cooks the turkey and everyone brings their best special dish (potluck) so everything is always good. One cousin always brings this really good ham, and since the feast will be at her house she'll probably make the turkey as well - fortunately, she gets help from family. One of my cousins bakes great soda bread and he tries to make enough for everyone, another bakes the 'family bread' (traditional dilly bread recipe) - if he's home from sea he'll bring that. One of the cousin-in-laws makes awesome mac and cheese, I'm the family salad maker and two of my cousins will mash as many loaded mashed potatoes as we need (we eat mashed potatoes by the pound). We have a good spread and eat buffet style.
It quit raining for a bit and sun is out this afternoon but will probably not be here for long as we have forecast of rain for the foreseeable future. It's supposed to be very wet on Thanksgiving which means my friend and I will get soaked on the 10k Turkey Trot we're doing in the morning. But, there's a hot shower and a feast later on!

And did Jingles get placed somewhere?

Jingles is on a preadoption visit in Houston. They want to see how he gets along with their dog.
Just heard from the vet. The blind kitty, Abbie, has hypertension which most likely contributed to her blindness and is in the beginning stages of kidney failure. There is never an easy one.

We are doing Thanksgiving Friday. I am working Thursday. Also makes it easier if hubby forgot to buy something. I am on week 4 of my diet so I won’t be eating much. Plus we are going to his sister’s Saturday and that has me a bit nervous. I don’t like being around that many people right now.

I'll be cooking a traditional Thanksgiving dinner, as I do every year. So far this morning I've made homemade cranberry jelly and done some prep for other things. Next on my list are a pumpkin pie and a pecan pie. I'm just taking a little break now.

I'm making a small turkey for just me and will have some brussel sprouts and cauliflower with that. Why I don't know. I like eating leftovers because it means I don't have to cook or think about what I'm going to eat for days. The simple life is the best.Of course, I will have plenty of sweets around too. I used to single-handedly make a big feast for the family and then have to pry them away from the tv football games to eat it. That was decades ago. I don't miss doing that.
