Yeah, I always thought Gunne Sax sold like crazy & for big $$$. I always find Scott & sometimes Jessica, but never Gunne Sax, which were so popular in my youth. I hated them personally, not my style, but I know she had huge success with them & they were well done if you like that esthetic. RIP.
Larry McMurtry, a prolific, Pulitzer Prize-winning author and Oscar-winning screenwriter, has died at age 84. He was beloved for riveting and yet unsentimental depictions of the American West in books such as Lonesome Dove as well as for tales of family drama including Terms of Endearment.
In all, McMurtry wrote more than 30 novels as well as over a dozen nonfiction works that spanned memoir, history and essays. He wrote over 20 screenplays and television scripts as well.
Oh man, it's a rough day here :-( I know most of you aren't as into music as I am, but no doubt, most of you own the seminal album Bat Out of Hell or know Bonnie Tyler's epic Total Eclipse of the Heart. The man responsible for those (and much more) Jim Steinman has passed away at 73:-(
Epic songwriter & producer with a bombastic, almost classical or Broadway style to his music. He was known as much for his musical style, as the actual compositions. Around my house, we often refer to certain songs as Steinman-esque. Bat Out of Hell is a masterpiece that defined a decade. Apparently he worked with Celine Dion too, though IDK anything about her.
