Happy Monday everyone A lovely day here, too bad it won't last. But low humidity in May is super exciting We ventured out to the VV yesterday and DH decided to take his (1963) Ford Falcon. Fun until we came out of the store to a flat tire then the car wouldn't start! We had to get a jump and DH had to put on the spare and was all grumbly about it too. But I got flowers and chocolates for Mother's day and even some Charmin Ultra Soft!!! I can't believe how careless I was with it before lol.
I haven't had a sale since Friday, I'm noticing a few days of sales, then nothing. Is anyone else having this?

LOL at the Charmin! I needed a laugh, thanks jes!
Sunny and hot today at 97 (but it beats 100+!) and the rest of the week we're back down to our more usual temps for this time of year (high 80s, low 90s). Guess I'll go brave the grocery store to get my Rx and some grapes while I'm in there. Then it's back home and accounting all day.

Thanks to blissfullymiserable and Cliff's wanting to know name of sub place a few days ago, I got a hankering for Mr.Hero. DH stopped and got us Romanburgers and cheesesteak subs for dinner tonight. He got double meat on the cheesesteaks. Ate half of each and life is good. To blissfullymiserable, tell Cliff the Romanburgers are still delicious. It was weird having everybody (minus a few who may/may not return) back at work. Lots got done and I'm just glad I don't have to be anywhere near the place tomorrow at reopening.

That was exbf from the Cleveland area (Brook Park) that loved the Romanburgers new BF (not really new... he's been around for several years) is from Buffalo NY and doesn't get nearly as excited about any food... lol! I'm glad that I gave you and your hubby an idea for dinner

Fry's actually had toilet paper today. That's the first time I've seen it in the store since around March 15 when the whole buying/hoarding thing started

I was in my HEB yesterday and the whole toilet paper and paper towel aisles are fully stocked. Not a space vacant. They must be restocking as a package rolls over the checkout counter. I had a slight inclination to buy some to keep handy for the next outbreak because no doubt in my mind that this is not over for good.

The only thing I haven't been able to find lately is Clorox wipes, and I've heard they might not be fully back in stock until July. So I'm rationing them.

The disinfecting wipes are the thing I have been able to find lol. I'm glad because DH uses them at work a lot. Alcohol, Witch Hazel, Hand Sanitizer, latex gloves are the things I have not seen in stores since early March.
It's warmer here today, the cool sure was nice while it lasted. Chance of rain, too. we need it.
Has anyone heard of diamond painting? A friend told me about it, it's sort of a cross between paint by number and cross stitch. I got a kit from Amazon, and I'm enjoying doing it. I think the only problem is it's like cross stitch; what do you do with all the stuff you make? I don't want it hanging all over the house lol. But I will do a kit or two. It's satisfying in the way jigsaw puzzles are.

Our azaleas and rhodies are finally blooming. Also, I tried to show a photo of our dogwood and its blossoms, but it was white against a gray sky so not a great photo. side yard through the kitchen window screen) The dogwood - oh well Backyard blooms!

TP seemed to be easier to find for a short while but I've been to a few stores the last few days and no tp anywhere. I can somewhat easily find hand sanitizer but no Lysol or disinfecting wipes.... or yeast.

I think wipes, sanizer, gloves etc is going to businesses. Some need it now or need it to open in the future.

Arrgggh. Just found out my health insurance denied payment on my hospital visit, says "deemed not medically necessary". I was in for afib and standard procedure is to keep the patient in the hospital until the patient is back into normal sinus rhythm. Looking at the detail on the insurance website, it appears the hospital may have used the wrong billing code (it's showing up as ICU and it should not). Oh joy. Guess I get to spend the morning on the phone tomorrow with the billing department. While I'm at it, I might as well ask them to credit charges from the second day as it was their fault I was kept there a second night. The day shift head nurse on the floor forgot to call the heart doc for a consult, despite me asking several times where the heck was he. I am not looking forward to tomorrow Good thing I have wine in the fridge. On a bright note, a replacement pair of shoes I ordered came and they fit The first pair was mis-sized, said 8 medium but fit like either an 8-1/2 wide or a 9 wide. I had to return.

@val2525 - they should be able to revise that claim. Billing mistakes are unfortunately not uncommon. As for 'forgetting' to call the cardiologist for a consultation - WHAT? ? Glad you're feeling better, though.

Make your own disinfectant
This was posted on another online group I belong to and I know who the poster is.
“I worked for 35 years as a research and development chemist and the information I want to share is absolutely correct. The chemicals which kill viruses, bacteria, molds, and fungi are typically synthetic man-made soaps referred to as “quaternaries” or “benzalkonium chlorides”. If you look at the label on Lysol wipes, the active ingredient is “Alkyl(50%C14,40%C12,10%C16) dimethylbenzyl ammonium chloride” at a 0.26% concentration. The label on Total Home Disinfecting Wipes is a slightly different mixture of the same type of chemicals, also ending with the “dimethylbenzyl ammonium chloride” and at a 0.28% concentration. They all work basically the same in killing organisms, just as old- fashioned animal derived soaps do. The reason I am writing to the group is that there is a virtually unlimited supply of the same active ingredient in the algaecides used in swimming pools except that the concentration is 50%.”
From George Gauthier, 73, a retired Pfizer Inc. chemist and the president of two local button clubs.
A safer suggestion: I have personally used a 10% concentration product(instead of the 50% concentration) and diluted 10 Tbs in a gallon of water. I have been unable to find any liquid/spray disinfectant or disinfectant wipes since this all began so I was grateful to learn I could make my own. A friend of mine is using it to disinfect the thrift store he manages because his inventory is mainly women’s clothes and the alternative disinfectant, a diluted bleach solution, is less than ideal for a store full of clothes since they will have to use it on work surfaces and door knobs and occasional transfer to clothing would require constant vigilance. To make wipes, dampen paper towels in your homemade Lysol(equivalent), fold and store in a container with a tight lid.
I would caution anyone deciding to do this, to wear dishwashing gloves when measuring from the commercial algaecide bottle and to thoroughly wash/rinse the gloves and carefully cleanup any spills when you are done. I accidentally found the 10% concentration and it is widely available at Home Depot, Meijer, Walmart and other online sources as well as True Value hardware stores. Some sources are out of stock but there are enough that finding it should not be challenging. My True Value had to order it and that took 2 days, Be careful you only purchase algaecide with the formula stated by George. Similar algaecideS show copper in the ingredients and you DO NOT want that. The brand I found is HTH, they offer their product in a quart bottle for just under $5.00 and that will produce 5 gallons of Lysol equivalent so you may want to share with a friend. One caveat, before you decant your gallon in to a spray bottle, be sure to thoroughly clean and rinse that spray bottle. Hope this helps with your search for disinfectant and wipes. It is a little work on your part but, in my opinion, well worth the effort. I found two friends to share with and they were delighted to stop having to search for Lysol as well as for wipes. I was delighted to no longer have a lifetime supply of Lysol (equivalent) on hand.

Wow, GORGEOUS!!! The azaleas bloom much earlier here, they are done now. I do have some roses blooming and my hibiscus is going, too. I have 3 Rose of Sharon, same family as hibiscus I believe but they bloom much later for some reason.
Well I have not had a sale since last Friday They seem to be coming in waves, I guess I need to put my store on sale again. I typically do a week, is that long enough? How long do you guys typically do a sale?

I usually do one for about 5 days.
Depending on if they get any sun here or not, the shrubs bloom at different times, but everything is a bit later here due to being farther north.

Jes-I run a sale every night. I used to run one weekly, but found that everyone waited until the last minute to buy. Now with the sales (30% off) going off every night at 7:30 EST, I make more sales.
If they watch and know how I work it, they know to wait until I start the evening sale.
Otherwise, I sometimes get notes saying that they are glad that they were able to buy the item right before the sale expired. (Not knowing that it would go on sale again in about an hour).

I do my whole store. When I list stuff, I price it 30% higher than I want. That way it is easiest to just put my whole store on sale.
