Murphy will come around. He just needs more time. He has come a long way since he was trapped. Some of them just take a little longer than others.
He has only been full time with the Missy family for a few days so still making some attitude adjustments.

Has Murphy been desexed yet? That might change the growling and stuff.

Speaking of Kittens Past, I loved Toby from a year or two ago. He was a lovely blue-grey. He'd get out of his cage for an eat and a play, then go back to his cage and put himself to bed. A very good and intelligent little fellow. I hope he's still at his adoption home and having fun.

@dantes I agree with you about getting the ferals away from their mother as soon as possible. Then they can attach to their human as a new mother, and the human can be their role model. lol, as funny as that sounds.
I read somewhere that a feral will only really attach to one human, and they will attach faithfully. That was true with Bubby - she'd tolerate other people, as long as they realised that I loved her the most, lol. If I cooked dinner for someone, she'd sit on my lap while we ate, popping her head up to look at them every now and then to make sure they were behaving.
And when I was about 8 we took in a feral kitten that someone had found in the bush, the rest of the litter abandoned and dead. She was supposed to be mine but she decided she liked Dad better and he was the only one who could touch her.

Yes, Murphy was neutered last week. Got an ear tip and a tattoo just to have all bases covered.
Murphy will be fine. He was a really feral baby so it is just taking a little longer than it did with Milo.

Since Murphy plays with Toby he should be fine with Trixie.
He's probably overwhelmed with the other cats & just doesnt know how to act.
KrittersKittenMannersKlasses will have him behaving in no time.

Shirley, Toby is going to be the lucky one going to Val's house. Toby deserves a great home and that is what he will get.
Murphy will stay in foster awhile longer until he is totally ready. After Toby goes, then we can go full blast on KrittersKittenMannersKlasses.

She was supposed to be mine but she decided she liked Dad better and he was the only one who could touch her. Two of my former ferals, Simon and Tory, both were very attached to me. Tory was suppose to belong to my youngest, but he choose me to hang with - especially at night. He was a scrappy little long haired orange kitty that reminded me of Oscar the Grouch. I plucked them up at around 4 -5 weeks. There were four total. If they get too old, then forget trying to make them into nice kitties. It rarely happens.

Kritter, if you pick Murphy up, does he growl and wave his arms at you? Soooo cute when they're little, not so cute when they weigh 20 pounds.

Showing progress slowly but surely. I think he will do even better when Toby is gone and he doesn't have his partner in crime. Those two boys are terrorists.

Toby's here! He was hiding in the office but now he's under the bed. Trixie is hiding in the kitchen cabinet. I don't think she believed me when I told her the other human had left

Hi Toby! Murphy misses you. He is in the carrier now like he wants to go somewhere too.
I told him that I probably wouldn't find him as good a home as Toby has but I will try my best.

Ok Trixie wandered into the office where I'm working. I still don't know if she's met Toby but she's sniffing around like crazy.

Trixie was one of my fosters that Val adopted when she was still in New Mexico.
She a baby kitten left in a carrier on my front porch right before Christmas. If the UPS guy hadn't delivered a package and rang my doorbell I would have never know she was there and she would have been in the cold all night.
Trix and Toby can compare notes on the bossy adult cats and terrorizing foster kittens that they had to put up with when they were at my house.

It's no match made in Heaven, Titus. And no note comparing has been going on. Trixie is not happy there is another cat here. I had to use the water bottle on her a few times last night. Today she's in the garden window ignoring Toby and growling at him if he tries to get in the window. She didn't let Hootie up there either, so that's nothing new. There are enough windows here that they can each claim their own if they want. Toby watched TV with me last night on the sofa and stayed in the other bedroom for the night. Trixie hissed at him under the door until I yelled at her, then she came to bed with me. At least she's not stalking him today and hissing at him.
Her bitchy side is coming out though.

Trix is just making sure Toby has a copy of the house rules in his mind and that she will be there to enforce them.
Toby is letting Trix know by his ambivalence that he isn't going to leave and she needs to deal with it. He would rather hang with Val anyway. Its like he now has a human almost his own.
I am kinda surprised that he adjusted so quickly especially right after the plane ride where he had to spend a couple of hours stuffed in a carrier under the seat.

kritter , don't the kitties poop or pee in the carriers while they're on the plane?

titus730 I have never had one pee or poop in their carrier yet.
I put a puppy pad in the carrier just in case but have never needed it.
I do tell them that they need to use the litter box before we go so don't know if that helps or not.

All my cats have been yowlers in the car, I was curious about cats on planes. They are in a carrier in the main cabin with you? Do they ever get noisy?

Congrats Val-that's a cute cat. And that's coming from, more of a dog person that inherited a cat and was drafted in to the secret society of cat lovers.

Toby was a yowler in the car on the way to the airport but after we got to the airport he was OK.
He mewed a few times when we got on the plane here and when we stopped in El Paso but went back to sleep after the plane took off. I guess they go to sleep during the flight because they are quiet.

titus730 Nope, I have never used Feliway for anything.
When we stopped in El Paso, I was the only one staying on the plane through to Phoenix. The pilot came back in the cabin to talk to me and he heard Toby doing his little mews. He asked me what I used to sedate the cats and I told him nothing. He was surprised that Toby was so quiet. I told him that Toby used up all his anxiety energy in the car on the way to the airport.
On the flight back the plane was full so I got the middle seat in the front row and had to put the empty carrier in the overhead because no seat in front to put it under. When the attendant was closing the bins she got all anxious because she thought there was an animal in the carrier and grabbed it out of the overhead. Since that puppy died in a carrier in an overhead bin I guess they have been told to watch out for animal carriers.

Well, she better get over it because Toby is here to stay. Fortunately he just looks at her and does a kitty shrug and goes the other way. He's pretty chill. He's a klutz too, LOL!
