I'd think putting the booties on the front feet would be better - on the hind feet it just makes it easier for them to slide along.

The vet said to keep them on the back legs so she must have a reason.
I just hope we see some progress by the end on this coming week.

I'm curious how they work, then, and hopefully they do the trick! No, the vet had put them on her when I picked her up after the laser therapy on Thursday. She told me the reason but there were two big dogs squaring off in the lobby area by the door and I was intent on staying out of their way.

You can try Kitty diapers.
When one of my guys got really old he was losing bladder control & I used those for his last 6 months.

The stink is probably half in your nose, half in the room. Opening the windows will definitely help. Open them whenever you can - Dandy has a fur coat and will be fine.
Bowls of bi-carb soda around the room might help.
I used to have an air freshener that had no scent, but somehow it killed stinks. That would be cool, if you could get one. The scent was just called "ozone" or something.
Oh, I just looked and there's stuff called Nilodor. I'm thinking from the US spelling you might have it there. The bottle says it's good for "sick rooms".

I'm guessing the booties on the back feet are to encourage her to shake her legs to try and dislodge them like a cat would do if you put tape on her feet. She'll move her legs about but not have all her weight on them like if they were on her front feet and she were trying to balance on her weak back legs to shake her front legs.
Can you use pee pee pads like for dogs/puppies while she's in the kennel?

Fashion, she has no control at all over her functions so the whole kennel would have to be in pee pads. I had to take the towels out of the kennel because she would scrunch them all up in one corner as she played so I am thinking the same think would happen with newspapers or pads.
I wonder if she has feeling at all in her back feet as she doesn't seem to feel anything when I struggle to get the booties back on her feet after a bath. The opening is pretty tight so the bootie will stay on and it isn't easy to slip them back on.

She shakes her feet when you dip them in water, doesn't she? So there's some feeling.
I actually dreamt about her last night. I was tickling her tummy and she did bunny kicks and got me with her sharp little claws. I was like, "Kritter, Kritter, look!"

Kritter, I wish you knew a kind lady, a recent widow perhaps, and retired nurse, who could take this little one on and extend the deadline.
Of course this lady has no pets because her husband was terribly allergic. But she's always loved animals, cats in particular. She's comfortably wealthy, has a businesslike manner and a heart of gold.

I don't know what the ACS lady is going to decide at the end of next week when the therapy is done. Hopefully, we will start to see some progress this week. A bit ago she had pooped in her cage in several different places and was scratching around to cover it up. She is breaking my heart.

Is she able to get in and out of the litter box easily?

Kritter, you have the patience and heart like no other. Do you think this kitten has any chance of having a normal life? I ask because someone could adopt her and then get aggravated with the mess, wondering if this is a risk. A lot of people could neglect or even mistreat an animal and when one has health issues I always worry that someone might not be able to deal with it and become mean.
If she is not able to control her bathroom habits or use her back legs will the vet put her down?

Is she able to get in and out of the litter box easily? fashion, I don't think she knows when she has to go - no feeling in her tummy area. Therefore she doesn't go to the litterbox because she doesn't know she needs to. It just happens.

(((Dandy))) Ladies, we ALL have to send extra-concentrated vibes, thoughts, prayers to this little one, specifically to her lower spine area. It's life and death for her, from what I understand. She's only got a few days to show some progress. We can't have Kritter's heart broken! Or her work go unrewarded. <<<sending special zappity laser-like vibes to Dandy>>>

Petti is right. She has no control over her bodily functions.
clean, she will not be adopted out unless she can live a normal life. If it is decided by the ACS person that she should be put down, the vet will do it.
This morning after I cleaned her crate, I put her back in on the metal tray with her food. She started moving her back legs like she was trying to get traction to get to her bowls but it was slippery on the metal. That is the first time I have seen her do that.

I asked the vet today about the booties thing and she said it was to help her back feet with traction and also help protect her back feet as they were showing some hair loss and signs of redness from being dragged around.
Its looking more and more like the issue is not with her legs but more of a disconnect between her brain and her legs. Her legs are moving on their own more and more but her brain is not sending a "walk" signal to her legs. Somewhere that signal is jumping the track.

Talked to the ACO this morning and she is going to pick up Dandy after her laser therapy on Friday and take her home with her.
She had Dandy for a couple of days before I took her so I think she will be a good person to notice if Dandy has improved from her therapy.

There's such a thing as brain "plasticity". I know nothing about it except it means that the brain adapts and can create new pathways to replace dead ones. The younger the brain the more plastic, I assume.
I'm hoping the ACO sees enough improvement to give our little poppet another week or two. She needs therapy that makes her want to move her back legs. That's how to get the brain to connect.
But, Kritter, does the ACO have even more calls on her time than you do? That's a worry. I think you need to get up to HEB right now and find that nice widowed nurse lady! She could spend elebenty hundred hours a day on therapy!

Well, she does have a job so there is that but I don't sit at home with Dandy all day every day.
I was at HEB this afternoon and had my eye out for some nice widowed lady but didn't see anybody that seemed to fit the bill. Also looked at the library but not any good options there at all. One lady there was really haranguing one of the workers about why they didn't have all the books that she wanted to read. After all, they were current popular authors so why weren't those books there?
Then she was off on a rant that she wanted home-bound status whatever that is. I wanted to walk up and slap her in the head but we were in the library so just got my books and left.

I'm not good at CS jobs because when someone asks a question like that, I laugh. In that situation I would have said, "You've just answered your own question, madam." "Homebound status" probably means they deliver all the books you want that they don't have. Then they pick them up again. That's an excellent thing. I wonder if we have it here? I could cope with library books if I didn't have to go to the library or return the books. With all the arduous work taken out of it, it really would be reading for free!

Val, things are pretty much the same. Her back legs definitely move more than they did before she started the laser treatments but the ability to actually walk on them is still not there.
Today is her last treatment. The ACO will pick her up from the vet and take her home with her.

FWIW, if she had any nerve damage, that could take a while to heal. Or it does in people, anyway.
