Shadow is quite the looker. Now I'm a happy CCL though I'd be ecstatic if there was a pic of the door mat too.

She is beautiful. I can see a mischievous look in her eyes LOL
She will go fast, if I was able to take a cat right now I would go get her, she's beautiful.

Ooooh, velvety! That's the one thing black cats have over the others - the light sinks in, like velvet. And if they're healthy, when they're in the sun they *glitter*.

Shadow is really beautiful! And she has a look in her eye that makes her seem smart, too -- like she's planning something.

Updated on Nextdoor that Shadow is ready for adoption. I think we are going to do a foster switch maybe on Thursday if no adopter steps up.
I will be taking a kitten that was found this afternoon and another foster that doesn't have cats will take Shadow to see how she gets along with dogs.

Looks like Shadow might have a home after Halloween.
A lady posted on ND tonight that she has been following Shadow's story and wants her after they move at the end of the month.
It is not a done deal until Shadow leaves but there is hope that she will have her own home next week.

Yay, fingers and claws crossed here for the new home. The lady sounds sensible - wanting to get her after the move.
And a new kitten! A wittle one?

She is the kitten that was picked up the day but she has sarcoptic mange so we need to figure out the foster situation. The Animal Care Officer is going to check out a report of kittens being born to a feral momkat but we don't know how old they are so they might come into the mix too.

The more black ones that can be collected into care before Halloween, the better. Keep them safe from the maniacs.
In Australia, as in England (I think) black cats were seen as lucky. But we must be becoming Americanised in that way too, because I've been seeing things about being especially careful of black pet cats the next week or so.

What a little cutie! And her medical problem is just an extra reason why she's lucky to be in your care, Kritter.

At least she posted last night that the kitten was safe, warm, and well fed. Haven't talked to the ACS lady as she has been busy so don't know for sure.

Took Shadow to a potential adopter's house this evening to see if she got along with their dogs.
Was not real happy about leaving her there for several reasons but hated to be judgemental just because they wouldn't let me in the house that they are renovating.
Passed all the info on to the Animal Care Office and she can take it from there.
May be getting a kitten in foster tomorrow. Seems like she was hit by a car and full use of her hind legs is slowly coming back according to the vet info. Problem is that she has no control of bowels now and won't know for sure if that will come back or not. Should know in a month about that issue.

Color me suspicious, but why would you want to take on a new furbaby in the middle of a house reno, especially if the foster is willing to keep the cat a little longer if you're the final adopter? I don't think you were being judgemental, but I do think your spidey senses were on spot. I'd be worried.

I am suspicious. Well, maybe more uncomfortable with how it went down.
I forwarded all the info to the ACO as the ball is in her court.
I am just the foster and don't have the final say now.

If it were Nov 5th, and a gray cat, I might not be so suspicious. But the day before Halloween, and a black cat meeting the family dogs? Will be sending safe vibes to Shadow tonight. PS not faulting you at all, I know you can only do so much in these cases.

Totally what Val said. Not your fault, Kritter, but you're old enough and wise enough to know suss when you meet it.
I hope they don't get her. They won't let you in the house they're renovating, but it's fine for them? And fine for a new cat? And fine for the dogs? But somehow YOU are at risk?
Oh no no no. Hell no. I'm sending SAY NO vibes to the ACO lady. Adoption DENIED.
My bet is it's a hoarder house. Maybe just "stuff", not animals, but - NO.

Val, I am not concerned at all about the black cat/Halloween thing.
My concern is that they bit off more than they can chew with all that they have going on in their life right now and now is not the time to be adding a cat to their life.
The ACO is on it and she will be following up immediately as Shadow still needs her microchip. Technically Shadow is still in foster with them instead of with me so she can yank her back if need be.

Just talked to the ACO and Shadow is coming back into foster ASAP.
Apparently the dingbat lady didn't follow my instructions on introducing Shadow to the two yappy Poms and held Shadow in arms while the dogs were brought in. Shadow freaked and went flying which would be to no one's surprise.
The lady offered to keep Shadow in foster but I told the ACO "No, Hell No, not for a second longer than necessary to arrange a pickup.
I am picking up two 4 month old kittens for foster for a week until they go to the Humane Society for adoption plus taking a little kitten that has some kind of back leg issue and is having trouble pooping and peeing. I am taking the kitten tomorrow to Kenya's vet for a second opinion as the vet the city uses said there was no hope for recovery.
The ACO is going to foster Shadow. I write her a scathing email last night at midnight after she told me about what was going on in that dump house and the idiot lady said she would foster Shadow until a home would be found. NO HELL NO!

Wow. Poor Shadow. Looks like your gut instinct about those people was absolutely right, Kritter. Poor Shadow is right. I should have just driven on instead of stopping like I wanted to do at the time. The ACO said they really love Shadow and want to keep her until she finds a home. Again, she got a "Hell No" from me. There is a 5 month old kitten up at the vet's office that the city uses that needs a home so the ACO is going to see if they will take that kitten since she has been around dogs in the vet's office. I feel sorry for that kitten but get Shadow out of there. Picked up the 5 month old two kittens and they are housed in the bathroom and hall because they were hissy at the Missy family. They will only be here until the 9th so we can work with a lot of closed doors for a week.

Just talked to the ACO and Shadow might be becoming back tonight. I volunteered to pick her and although space is really tight here now, I will work her in until she can go with the ACO tomorrow.
I just want her out of there.
At any rate Shadow is definitely coming back to us by tomorrow at the latest.
