5 I think, she seems like a good mommy so far, eager to nurse.

It was neat, I was hoping that I wouldn't miss them being born. Glad that I caught the tail end of it.

The first day seemed rough for her, she wanted to curl up in a ball and sleep like she used to. Seems like she's since settled in nicely with her puppies. I just love the only one that looks like her, his name is "Willy" and the only one that you can pick out in the crowd

Willy is out cold lol must have full belly. They are moving so much more and the human moms are so good at helping her too. It relaxes me to sit and look at the puppies.

They posted weights yesterday, little Midge isn't gaining much, she actually lost an ounce but gained it back. If I remember right, Willie gained 12 ounces and Vance weights 2lbs 2oz. They'll be a week old tomorrow

I am a little worried about Midge, she is so tiny but they really seem to know what they are doing and giving her plenty of alone nursing time to get the hang of it.

Their humans seem to know puppies very well, she's in good hands

The comments are fast moving, apparently Midge is having feeding issues and is still losing. They started to supplement. Copied and pasted Dropping not gaining. Now being given supplementation of goats milk/puppy mixture. Swallowed supplement OK but may not be getting anything from Mom. Does not do the normal "push pull" in nursing...

There is a new litter getting ready to be born, probably today but maybe tomorrow. Mother is Reese and father is Watson, they are both first time parents. Also the 2 donkeys are still pregnant. The human mother gets to name the litter and the puppies, nothing decided but I think it should be either Reese's pups or Reese's pieces, lol. She will probably come up with something better, I hope. I realized the original link didn't work anymore. Here is a new one: explore.org/livecams/service-dog-project/great-danes-puppy-nursery-cam

No that was Audrey, this is Reese. All the puppies are being donated to the Service Dog Project which trains and donates the dogs. Veterans get priority then others that need a service dog. Great organization with great leaders.

Awww, I missed this the first time around, those puppies are so cute! As for naming, if she's a pro breeder of AKC registered dogs, they actually DO typically use a formula of themes or letters of the alphabet for the registered names of each litter, so your Reese's Piece's idea isn't far off the mark :-) It's really common for breeders to use letters of the alphabet in order, like the A litter, B litter, etc & each dog's name starts with that letter OR to use a theme for each litter, the constellation litter, the 80s song title litter, the flower names litter, etc. So, Reese's pieces could easily be the theme & then the names could be Peanut Butter, Hershey, Melt in your Mouth, Chocolate, etc Those aren't call names so they could be lengthy. I see this breeder is in the UK though & I'm not sure if it's done the same over there.
