I'm glad that sellers don't have to do anything special. I won't sign up for it to pay with (not even sure if an Apple device is required, but I don't have one) but I have direct checkout on Etsy.

Looks like Direct Pay will accept Apple Pay and Google Pay. That is good news. Sellers dont have to do anything but it brings into the fold a whole lot of buyers.

Can someone please explain how the Direct Pay works? Right now I am only accepting Paypal there. I'm somewhat technically challenged and couldn't find anything I could understand on Etsy about it. Is it free to use? And how do I get it? Thanks!

It basically allows you to accept credit card payments through Etsy, like Etsy pretending to be a merchant account. There is a fee, but it's not much different than PayPal's fee. I got a $5.00 payment and received $4.60 of it. 3% + $0.25 www.etsy.com/help/article/2028

I don't recall exactly how I turned Direct Checkout ON, but I see that I can turn it OFF by going to "Your Shop" -> "Finances" -> "Accepted Payments".
So I'm pretty sure that's where you'd go to turn it on.

Can you do the Direct Pay there AND offer PayPal? If I open a store there, I want to sign up for every single possible payment method they allow I know some sellers have a bad taste in their mouth from using PayPal on eBay, but I use it lot as a buyer on non-eBay sites. I especially like being able to use it on the Southwest Airlines site - soooooooooo easy. I also use PP to bill several of my accounting clients and they love it. Off of eBay, it's not totally evil

Maybe it will allow you to barter for chickens and beaver pelts?
