Announcing a new way to get paid through PayPal. As part of our commitment to deliver payment innovations that give your customers more ways to pay, we’re pleased to announce a new feature of your PayPal account: Venmo users will soon be able to make mobile purchases through your PayPal checkout. What is Venmo?Venmo is a popular social payments service that lets people make and share payments with their friends, family and approved businesses. Accepting Venmo payments can give you access to new buyers and provide marketing exposure for your business when Venmo users choose to share purchases through their Venmo social feed. Here’s what you need to know about this update: There’s nothing you need to do. We’ll automatically enable this feature over the coming weeks. There is no additional cost. Your standard PayPal fees will apply for all Venmo payments received through your PayPal checkout. Only Venmo users who have opted-in will see the Venmo payment option. Your PayPal checkout experience will remain the same for all other users. Venmo payments received through your PayPal checkout will be available in your PayPal account. PayPal’s Seller Protection policy will apply to Venmo payments received through your PayPal checkout. I don't understand the reasoning behind this.
Is this similar to the Facebook money transfers?

No clue. Apparently it's mobile only and the millennials like using it...LOL that's pretty much all I got from it.

So if it's Paypal, then why not call it Paypal mobile or something like that.

You can sign up with Venmo through facebook - it's just another stand-alone mobile payment system.
I would use Square for all of that stuff, but with Paypal integrating Venmo payments you can continue to handle the money with one integrated system.
No, I don't work for Venmo lol - but doing this is a good idea.

You never know how someone wants to pay. @dantes - it's not PayPal, they are partnering with them and having payments go through PayPal.

It sounds like it would be the same as using your PayPal account to pay with Google wallet or ApplePay

Yes - there are a lot of them out there so integration is a good idea. Paypal also doesn't want to miss out, as they already did on Square.
