I just received the following e-mail from Tradesy:
"Thank you so much for being a valued part of the Tradesy community. We’re writing to tell you about our new minimum commission policy.
Starting at 12 AM PDT on May 10, 2017, all sold items less than $50 will incur a flat commission fee of $7.50. Sold items more than $50 will remain at our existing 14.9% commission rate. This change will not affect any sales prior to May 10th.
As a result, Tradesy will now require a minimum selling price of $10 for all new listings. Please note, any listings you currently have under $10 will remain at our existing commission rate and will not be impacted by the $7.50 minimum commission fee.
This change will allow our fully dedicated Selling Team to bring you new benefits to help you earn faster, including:
Listing suggestions so that your items appear in more search results and are easier to purchase
Insights to help you understand how often shoppers see your listings — plus tips on improving your sales
Selling experience improvements to give you better listings, faster — and with less work
App upgrades so you can effortlessly manage sales and buyer communications, plus see your earnings breakdown right from your mobile device
It will also allow us to continue bringing you the services you’ve come to know and love on lower-priced items, including friendly phone and email support, plus expert image cleaning to increase sales by up to 25%.
Questions? Feel free to reply to this email and we'd be happy to help.
Sincerely,
Team Tradesy "

Sounds like a company that is on its way out, probably hoping they will be bought up by someone.

I got it too. I will be removing my listings from there, as most cannot support such a ridiculous policy.
I guess they don't want anything but high end expensive items.
I had just moved more than 100 items from Ebay to Tradesy, too! Maybe I'll send them to Thredup instead.
Augh.

They sure don't give you guys much notice on these changes, do they?
I'm betting the venture capital funds are running out.

I need to get my listings transferred over before I lose all the work. They are going to go under quickly I think.

www.recode.net/2016/5/9/11641670/tradesy-funding-30-million-series-cTwo noteworthy items. First, last round of venture capital funding was May 9, 2016. Almost a year ago. Second, this statement at the end: DiNunzio would not comment on the company's revenue, but said the startup should be profitable on an Ebitda base by the middle of next year.

I think they also don't want to deal with cheap used clothing, TBH, even if it's NICE cheap used clothing...because they probably get huge returns, deal with fake SNADs and they're stuck with the stuff. It's a resource suck in that sense.
Of course, this completely contradicts their previous 'race to the bottom' pricing email.
I also think they want to clear anyone out not selling expensive designer products. I have almost nothing there that's over $50.

Are the effin kidding? I thought 15% was high. SO now if I sell something for $25 (shipping included) I'll pay 30% in fees. WTF, Tradesy. Ok, I am done. On May 10th I am removing everything that's cheaper than $50. Which is 90% of my store there. And I still predict that by the end of 2017 they'll be done. I guess all good things come to an end. I enjoyed my run with them and made some nice cash over the course of 2.5 years. My sales there have dropped significantly already.

Well they did say that it only applies to things listed after May 10th. I wouldn't go taking everything down.
The only issue is will they stand by that.

Only stuff listed prior to May 10th that under $10 will not be impacted. Everything over $10.01-50 will be impacted by flat $7.50 commission. This is how I read it.

I changed my mind about removing all under $50 items from Tradesy. I'll keep the hopeless turds at their current price, because I don't really care for how much I sell them, I have tons of items I just want gone. And everything else will get a bump in price to $50. Of course, most of it has no chance to be sold at $50, but hey, there's no listing fees (for now LOL) and if it does sell, it'll be a hefty profit.
PS: it is seriously ridiculous how they send "you're pretty much done" email to their sellers and pathetically try to turn it into positive thing. "It will also allow us to continue bringing you the services you’ve come to know and love" WHAT? You have ZERO customer service, at least for sellers. Email responses are canned or there are none. Phones are usually "closed". I, for one, have NEVER gotten an email from them when somethign was being returned. I know they send others emails, but I have never ever gotten one. I also have never gotten an emails like this one, site updates. I only get "promotional" emails and have to learn about all ridiculous changes here, on out message board. And remember that time when they shut down my account completely with no notice because they didn't like my email (it was a .ru domain and apparently everything with Russian vibe is "problematic" noways). For over a week I couldn't get in touch with anyone. Emails were unanswered and phone people had no clue. So F you Tradesy and F your "service".
/end of rant

I am devastated, I have done really well on this site in the past 2 years (handbags mostly) was so glad to find someplace to sell successfully other than ebay. I've already blasted them a nasty message, why they make the decisions they do and what they hope to accomplish.
I jotted down some numbers regarding their active listings and I am going to make a comparison come May 11th. Interesting to see if a significant amount of people will remove the applicable listings or just raise the prices. (43 of my 64 active listings are under $50). Will let you know the results.
I'm still deciding if I will just pull my stuff in the $10-$45 range or raise prices. On spite I don't want to do the latter because I hate to pay them $7.50 on principle. Unofficial poll....what will y'all do?

Officially, I backed out a week or two ago. First, they raised their % fee. Then something came out about them being able to hold any sellers $$ up to 21 days. That did it for me. I took down what little I had there (had been meaning to bulk up all my NWT stuff there) but nah, I'll keep it all here on eBay.

I'm on the fence right now. The vast majority of my stuff over there is under $50. I rarely sell more than 1 item per month. But on the other hand, they held my last payment for 16 days before they released it, and that really ticked me off even though I knew they could do it. Just not sure what to do. All my stuff there is also listed on Ebay.

I think there is massive editing going on there because of this which is making the site twitchy. I'm raising some prices and deleting a few things. But I have almost 600 listings there so I'm not doing anything drastic. Most of my pieces are over $50 anyway.

I removed a lot, I had close to 700 pieces. Some were $49.99 but I still removed them. If they had a simple way to revise in bulk, I might have done that. I just don't have time.

I closed my account about a month ago after my return fiasco. There was no customer service and no way to contact them by phone. It would take up to 10 days to get any response by email when it is suppose to be within 48 hours. They were ok for selling until a problem came up and had no way to contact them.

For some reason I got an email from them asking how likely was it I'd recommend a friend. I rated them the worst and followed up with fees being too high, unresponsive customer service and how difficult it was to list or edit high numbers of listings.

For some reason I got an email from them asking how likely was it I'd recommend a friend. I rated them the worst and followed up with fees being too high, unresponsive customer service and how difficult it was to list or edit high numbers of listings. I got the same e-mail. I also gave them the worst rating, explaining that the fees were too high and the hold on payments was too long. Here's the reply I got from them: Christina O (Tradesy) May 8, 3:58 PM PDT Hi Superior, Thanks for taking the time to give your feedback.
