Here's there hints to start the year:
2016 was the year of the discount. With huge markdowns available across the entire retail market, consumers have grown to expect frequent discounts and are reluctant to pay full price — ever.
•
Pricing pressure from the retail market made resale customers even more discount-sensitive. The average resale price for popular designer bag styles declined by 8.4%.
Selling More in Today’s Market
•
Make sure listings include an accurate original price for every item so buyers can easily see how much they’re saving. Listings that include an original price sell 40% faster than those that don’t.
•
Think about lowering prices for items in the Clothing category. Tradesy buyers are increasing their spending on designer Bags, Shoes, and Accessories, but want deeper savings than ever on Clothing.
•
Opt in to Tradesy’s Limited-Time Price Drops to offer flash discounts on items in your closet, and qualify to be featured in Editor’s Collections, marketing campaigns, and more.
•
Share your closet on social media — especially Pinterest and Instagram, where sellers who share their closets sell nearly twice as much as those who don’t.
•
With downward pressure on pricing across the market, use your eye for fashion to spot great investment pieces at deep discounts. Stock your closet with brands that hold resale value for a lucrative collection you can bank on.

I don't currently sell on Tradesy but all that "downward pricing" sounds pretty depressing!

They've raised their fee, but want sellers to lower their prices, the irony.

I didn't get that newsletter, but I've noticed for the past few months that their suggested selling price has drastically dropped.
ETA: I got it late this afternoon.

They gotta pay for all those fancy TV commercials. Well at least they're advertising...

That newsletter sounds like a lot of marketing hooey, to me.

Tradesy's dying for me. During last three months my monthly sales there dropped about 50%. In February I sold only 13 items vs my usual 25-30...

I did opt into their flash discounts.
TBH, I'm slashing prices everywhere because prices are dropping everywhere. Too much clothing online.
BTW, I tried to get started on Instagram and have NOT been able to create an account - it keeps giving me an error message. I'd use Gramblr for it to get around the inefficiency of having to use a mobile. They do have an app for downloading IG to a computer, but so far no luck.
ETA: Oh yeah, and I think people are buying more accessories because they're PUSHING almost nothing but accessories - same old boring designer stuff time after time.

I used to use Blue Stacks before I got a smartphone. It worked, but is quite time consuming and is a learning curve. I sold 3 things total on Istagram. I know, I could sell more, but honestly, I effin HATE it. All that social aspect of it, constant sharing and liking the dumb stuff you don't care about, I just start hating myself after doing it for longer than 10 minutes.

I hate the constant fiddling and preoccupation, also - I don't have a smart phone grafted to my hand and don't intend to. The only only reason I use SM is to sell stuff, that's it, so the constant sharing, liking, etc., is irritating. I grudgingly do it.
