I just received 100 poly mailers from icmailers that reek of oil. I must have been crazy to order from them again. But this size was ok the last time. It was the larger ones that smelled.
What should I do? They will tell me to mail them back for a refund but then I will be out the $5.35 for shipping. Last time they said that there was nothing wrong with the larger ones.
It's my own fault for buying from them again.
Any recommendations. I have tried Thereb and had the same issue.

IMO they will all occasionally have the issue b/c it's a mfg issue when the equipment has problems & none of these places mfr their own bags. Really, I think all you can do is buy them locally or air them out.

I just open the package and put them on my shelf. By the time I use them the smell is gone. I do use a clear plastic gallon size bag (from walmart) for the clothing and then put them in the poly bag. I haven't had any complaints as of yet.

I don't buy ziplocs, too expensive. I buy the gallon food storage with the ties.

Yes, I like the flexibility too. You can tape them around anything. I also buy cheap thank you stickers. It makes shipping fast and my customers do comment on feedback that they like the packaging.

Ok, I just received my order from Corijennin and they are perfect... Thanks. I am still going to get the bags from the 99 cent store and use the others.

I've never used poly mailers. Can someone explain what they are used for and why you would use them instead of tyvec envelopes.
I use both the twist tie gallon bags (mainly for shoes), the zip up gallon bags and the 2.5 gallon bags from the dollar store for large items. But I'm using them for water-proofing inside a box or tyvec envelope.

What do you use for First Class mail?
Poly mailers are great for that, I ship most items that are under a pound in the polys. I also have some that are much larger then the tyveks for shipping larger fabric items that don't need to be boxed and if it can save on weight for shipping.

eta; the other 29% is PFREs. I almost never use Tyveks. Only for the occasional jacket that doesn't fit in a PFRE.

Ditto, zoesam.
I don't use many Tyveks either, but they come in handy for bulky things like plus size jeans and sweaters that won't fit into a PFRE. I used some yesterday to ship out 2 bulky sweaters, but I also enclosed them in a 12" x 16" poly for added protection. SO questioned the practicality of it, but after explaining that I don't mind spending 10-cents to CMA, he understood.

I love those white tyveks that you can use for first class. But 1-they are expensive in comparison to poly mailers and 2- they are not as waterproof as the polys.
