I was in a hurry this morning and grabbed an item of which I have something nearly identical, quickly printed a label and slipped the package in a blue box as I went about my merry way. A few hours later I noticed I made a big mistake. It was a GSP package so it's headed to KY. Does anyone have any experience with this kind of mix up? I haven't contacted the buyer yet, I'm worried about a communication barrier since it's an international destination. Is there a number for the shipping company in KY (I'm about to research this). Any guidance is appreciated

Can you do a postal package intercept? Costs a bit, but it might be the piece of mind. retail-pi.usps.com/retailpi/actions/index.actionThen maybe reprint the label with the right item and get that out while the other one is being intercepted?

I thought about that but I'm not sure that's how I want to handle it. I think you have to fill out some paper work and it was costly the last time I checked into it.

I think they area SUPPOSED to check the item over before sending it on.

the difference is so subtle that I'm pretty sure only the buyer would notice.

Well, I'm going to go and comfort myself with todays episode of Y&R and the thin mints I just picked up in front of WM. Surely that will calm my nerves.

Consider the cost. Should you just send the second one and write it off? If you can have it sent back to you it will be expensive.

Pretty sure I'm going to have it recalled, I don't want the buyer getting stuck paying custom fees for 2 packages. I think it's the only option. If they were in the US I'd just send the right one and ask them to send the wrong one back if it wasn't an inconvenience. Not the case though. Booo
In the other group someone said it was $12 to recall, I thought it was more than that but I'll pay whatever to correct my dumb mistake and move on. In the morning I'm going to go stand in the dreaded line.

Here's the info if anyone needs it in the future. The good news is it can be done online. The bad news is it looks like it's only for domestic packages. Which doesn't really make sense if they can catch an international package before it leaves the US. www.usps.com/manage/package-intercept.htmI would just send my buyer a HU not to pick up the package and pay the customs fees. Or refuse it. Is there tracking to where it's being sent? Will you be able to say pick up this package, but not that one? Just in case the second package arrives ahead of the first one sent.

Elly that's what I was afraid of but I'm still going to try since it's not an overseas address. I'm headed there now, wish me luck!

I get it now. Your label has a US shipping address. I'm not in the GSP, so I'm not as familiar with the details as I should be. You shouldn't have a problem then.

I don't think it's gonna work. On line it says package interception isn't available at that address. Trying at the post office and the clerk said to do it on line. I got out of line and re entered all the info so he can see the error I'm getting. Pretty sure I'm screwed and will have to contact the buyer when I get home. can the refuse the package or rts? I can make a note n the package so they know which one is the right one. gasping at straws This this be a lesson for all... Check and double check your gap and or international orders

I just did a little research and I think I found the official name of the company and phone number but they don't seem to be open today.
NNR Air Cargo Service Inc 859.371.3339
Going to mail the right one today and call the company Monday morning. I guess I'll hold of on contacting the buyer until then.

Well I called that number and it wasn't the right place but they were able to give me the correct number. They put a flag on the package so I should get it returned to me, if it all works the way it should. I called a few time and talked to different people, they were really nice and helpful. I got the correct package mailed on Saturday and they haven't received in KY yet so fingers crossed.

I'm glad you were able to contact them and I hope it works out smoothly. Maybe there's a place on this forum to post the number in case someone else needs to call them in the future.

Update and it's not good....
After all I went through to try and correct my mistake, they returned to me the package that should be on the way to the buyer so now the buyer is going to get the wrong item. I'm not sure what to do. The buyer never responded to my first message about this so I'm not to keen on the idea of sending them another message. I thought about mailing them the item I got back today but I don't know their address or what country they're in or if they speak English. Their last name is Owen so they might.
So annoyed! You'd think they would have checked their REF# against the tracking number.

I have, I sent the buyer another email and again... nothing. I can't fix it until he communicates with me unless he's satisfied with the wrong item.
