So I'm getting my first bag ready to send and have been wondering about some stuff so thought I'd see what others' experiences are.
First, unfortunately the payouts are apparently no longer available for others to see because every link I have clicked on gives me an error message. Just want to make sure others are getting the same error message and it's not just something I've done wrong (although I don't know what it could be).
Wondering if anyone has spent time looking at the payout estimator before sending their items? Does it seem pretty accurate? And if it seems accurate overall, have you had any that weren't in line with the estimator?
Are there any brands in particular that you feel do just as well as or better than on ebay? Are there any brands you would pick up specifically for thredup if you found it at a good price at the TS?
J. Crew is a brand that I don't generally pick up. I remember reading on the board that someone only picks up pieces from the last couple of years. I tried that for awhile but it was time-consuming to look for the code and not very fruitful so I just gave up on it altogether. Wondering if anyone has noticed that thredup sticks to more recent J. Crew pieces or if it's a decent item from prior years is it still worth sending?
Did you feel their quality check is accurate? Have they rejected items that you thought should have been accepted? Have all designer items you sent been accepted?
Have you used their return assurance option? Would you use it the second time?
And now a technical question. I got the bag and some material with it, but when I went to look at the material I only found one piece. I think there was more, and I don't see anything that identifies the bag as coming from me. Is there usually a piece to scan or anything like that that I should be lookin for? I found the bag # on my account on thredup. Should I just include that # on a piece of paper in the bag or is that a bad idea?
I figure some of this information will help others, too, but thanks for any insight you can provide me!
ETA: Oh, ahrn's answer reminded me of another question. Did you do anything special to the items when you put them in the bag to try to keep them from getting too wrinkled? Do you think thredup does anything to the items before listing them to de-wrinkle? I don't want them not to accept something because it got all wrinkled in shipment, KWIM?
ETA2: How much is the payout affected by whether it's new or pre-owned? Anyone have a feel for that? And does size of an item affect payout?
