The brooch in my other thread! Thanks for the help. I just decided to list it on the spur of the moment. Barely hit the button and immediately got an offer! I asked $34.99 (frakin had suggested $35 and could come down) and immediately got an offer of $20 which I counter offered with $29.99. He accepted. I will never know what that brooch was. It was the most unusual thing I've ever seen. Fastest sale in all my ebay years since 1998. I guess I'll just get brave and keep on listing this stuff even though I am clueless. Set a price and see what happens. ETA: of course I have that sinking feeling that since it sold immediately, I could probably have financed a round the world cruise or bought a new house...

Nah, if you'd underpriced it they wouldn't have made a BO. Congrats on the quick sale!

Thank you. I have three more boxes of this "junk" to sell so this one gave me some encouragement.

That's great, nen! Congrats! Onward and upward! Thanks and you gave me the courage to go ahead and list that dang thing. No matter how much research I do I will never know what it was. I do wonder...but feel like a jerk asking the buyer, lol. Been researching and writing two more listings today--takes a long time but at least it was possible to find examples and to find marks to look up. I'm waiting to launch them--probably Friday night isn't too good. No hurry and they are in my saved listings.

Good for you! I have a lot of stuff that I am afraid to list since I don't know what it is worth.

Good for you! I have a lot of stuff that I am afraid to list since I don't know what it is worth. Is it costume jewelry? I've had great luck looking it up on ebay and if it's not there, I have Warman's Costume Jewelry from the library. It's easier if it's marked but those marks are really hard to see. Unmarked can be worth money but those are the ones that take so long to find a similar one on ebay. If it's costume jewelry, you can ask here.

It's QVC stuff that my mom had. I did get some help here. But I still have a lot that I can't find since it has all been discontinued.
And a lot of other misc stuff that I keep putting off.

If she stores the pieces in her trunk would that mean she has junk in her trunk? (couldn't resist )

Ummmm NEN, any cat or peacock pieces in your 'junk'? No kitties--;( I put a huge peacock on ebay yesterday though. People have it for $65 elsewhere. Maybe it will never sell but it's signed and I put a signed parrot with it and priced it at $59 or best offer. I may have cheaper peacocks that are not marked. Are you interested? Because I can look in my bird bag . VAL! I am of the age that I will always call it "junk" jewelry. That's what everyone called it. If we were being kind, we called it "costume" jewelry. I don't look down on it anymore because I am impressed by the artistic design and often the expert workmanship. But I can't change from calling it JUNK--(and anyway, I like being onery!)

Well darn, you don't have the peacock listed anymore. Because I just bought it! And let me know if you have any other peacocks, size doesn't matter. They are memory pieces for me so I am always on the lookout for different ones.

It's such a gorgeous pin too. I'll go and check my birds and see if there are any other peacocks. That was probably the most beautiful one of all and I'm glad it's going to YOU.

My favorite Aunt was a big peacock fan and anytime I wear peacock stuff I feel closer to her.
I really love that one and it's hard to find nice ones that big, so it was a win win for both of us.

Aw, that's such a nice way to remember her. Okay, I have now searched my bird bag and came up with two more peacock brooches. One is very much like the one your just bought but in different colors. The other one is smaller and is crystal white. I'll try to put pictures so you can see them. And if you happen to want either one or both, my husband can probably be persuaded to unpack the box so no further shipping charge.

A done deal! All are packed in one box and will go out very soon. I hope they all remind you of your dear aunt.
Again, thanks--it's a win/win for sure.

The two pieces you posted in the other thread look an awful lot like DeLizza & Elster pieces. That may explain the quick sale. You may want to dig a bit into it, the sold prices can be very nice.

I never even heard of those brands. For me, at least they sold and I needed the money fast. I've got two warman's books from the library that I've been using to look things up. It's a learning curve and I may live to regret having sold some things "cheap" but live and learn. You sound like you know this stuff. Maybe I'll know this stuff someday too--I'm getting to be quite fond of it. And if I do get more into this stuff, I just hope I can FIND it to sell. Thanks for the information. I always love to learn.

This site used to actively do authentication. Mr. DeLizza himself did it, I believe. Pretty sure that doesn't happen anymore. They do have a large archive of pieces that have been positively identified as D&E pieces you can peruse to see if your piece is present. It's also fun just to ogle all the great costume jewelry!
