This story: www.ecommercebytes.com/C/blog/blog.pl?/comments/2015/2/1424219614.htmlsays that Etsy has instituted a new listing category scheme. But when I go to Etsy and search, I still see the old categories. Does anybody know when the new category scheme will be visible in the search? Or am I just missing something entirely? I tried looking through the Etsy forum discussion about it, but it was just tooo much to wade through: www.etsy.com/teams/7722/discussions/discuss/15992322/page/1I'm interested in this because I'm still planning to start listing there in the vintage category (hey, I'm up to a big 5 draft listings!) and I like that they removed that as a top-level category, and you can now list vintage in any category. I just don't get how the buyers will use the new scheme!

As a postcard seller, I'm pretty disgusted by the changes.
They have put postcards under:
Paper & Party Supplies > Paper > Stationery > Postcards
Seriously? Paper & Party Supplies? To me that is streamers, table covers, napkins...
Why not: Collectibles > Paper > Postcards?
The first place I go when I'm looking for postcards is collectibles! Never would I ever look in a category called Paper & Party Supplies!
Dollhouse/Miniature sellers are outraged also. Their category is gone and they are now under Toys. Which (according to a lot of these sellers) is not correct because they cannot legally describe them as toys. Doll sellers, too, are now forced to put their items under Toys couple with Action Figures.
I have voiced my displeasure both using their forums and their contact form.

Yeah, those don't make any sense. I know someone who builds doll houses, and there's NO way you'd describe them as "toys." That was clearly done by something who had zero subject matter knowledge!
And postcards are party supplies?? I don't think so!

If Etsy is staying a handcrafted & vintage site, these changes make no sense. OTOH, if Etsy has plans to go more mainstream like Amazon or eBay, the changes make absolute sense. And if they're going public as speculated, then the changes make even more sense as those categories are more appealing to the stupid yahoos on Wall Street.

I sell hand painted watercolor greeting cards there and they are under paper and party supplies too, but I don't think collectible postcards belong there. I wouldn't think to look under party supplies for note cards or post cards.
