Well, it's quite tedious listing all my stuff--vintage jewelry--but I took the plunge. I have 16 pieces up now and will have to carve out time to get the other 200 or so up there. I'm scaring myself--but for 20 cents per listing for four months, it's worth a try.
Questions though: How can you tell if you've made a sale? Is there a notation on your store page? Do they send you an email? And, when they pay you, do they send the money for each sale, one by one, to your bank account or do they wait for more to accrue?

You'll see it on your dashboard.
They disburse funds to your bank account every Monday, though you can ask for earlier disbursal - I just wait.
It'll go faster! I enjoy Etsy.
Be very careful with your SEO, jewellery is very saturated, but I think you've got a leg up with your vintage jewellery.

I hope it goes faster--I hope it goes at all! I have some really spectacular pieces, I think, but my prices are not low as my acquisition costs are high. What's a SEO?

I have something on the board here about SEO (search engine optimisation) and using it on Etsy - good tags in your listings, having the About Me completed, introducing yourself, having a profile photo, etc. Etsy is cheap to list on, but you do most of the marketing. They have a bunch of good information in the handbook, too. Good photos are pretty crucial, but jewellery is pretty easy - you can have all kinds of cool little backgrounds and use your imagination without spending much money or having anything terribly elaborate.

Thanks, sunset! And thanks for the "favorites" vote --it took me awhile to figure out what it was.
Another question: is there any way to not accept returns??? I'm a no-returns kind of girl. I don't see a setting for that.

Congrats on launching the store! I've found Etsy to be a nicer venue than Ebay - not as many sales but the buyers seem friendlier and I haven't encountered scammers. I don't know if there's a way to say you won't take returns, but I don't think Etsy makes it nearly as easy to return things as Ebay.

FritziRitzVintage. I only have 16 listings up right now. That's twice as many as I do! Congratulations!

I found the way to state your returns policy, or lack thereof. Under the Your Shop tab at the top, go to Edit Shop and scroll to edit your policies. Don't forget to hit the Publish Button at the bottom after your selections. Since I'm a plunger-inner, it takes me awhile to read the policies pages. I have 30 items up now; it's slow going. As always, I should have started sooner.
I def don't want to put in a picture and a story etc. Have to figure out what to do; chap says it's important. However flattering, I don't suppose my pic here is appropriate...

Congrats on launching a store- just in time for the holiday season too! Etsy isn't a buttinsky about returns or managing your business... what a breath of fresh air! Just write a TOS page that explains your policy. And keep on listing. You can't save templates but here's a little tip to help you list similar items faster- you can easily use another listing as a template for a new listing by copying it. Use the drop down menu at upper right to get to listings manager. Click on the listing you want to copy. Next look at the upper right of the listing for a drop down tab labeled "Manage". Click that and then click COPY. The listing is then ready to be edited for the new listing. Just be sure to change all your tags and edit shipping if necessary. Easy-peasy way to speed up the process. Just BE SURE to hit the copy button... I've over-written several listings by forgetting to hit COPY, and that can't be undone. Now get to work filling your store . Good luck!

Be sure to add the link to your Etsy store to your siggy here. Plus you can list up to 3 items per category per SELLING SITE per day in the Sell Your Stuff area.

I only accept Paypal. It works just like Ebay. I get an email that something sold and an email that I got paid.
You can also print shipping labels right from Etsy just like Ebay.
Congratulations and good luck!
Add your link so we can add you as a favorite!

However flattering, I don't suppose my pic here is appropriate... Don't worry about doing that all at once - just put things in as you go - you don't need to have a personal photo, how about a really good one of one of your spectacular pieces? The 'about me' really does help and doesn't have to be personal - you can look at any of our stores to get an idea. Right now it's important to - list (you're doing that) - have specific policies (you've done that) - work on titles and tags (that's ongoing - I tweak stuff a lot) I've been only really doing this for about 11 months, even though I sold a couple of things year before last. Etsy lately has been bringing in a good chunk of my income. Also, BE PATIENT - most people don't have sales for a while because you've got to get yourself out there. Sometimes you do. Just keep working at it. For me, Etsy is a lot less work than eBay, but I don't expect to make my living from it. Since I sell vintage clothing, etc., my investment is higher (cost and time - I end up doing repairs), but it's more satisfying. Yes - do the copy thing - I always do that.

I may migrate over there too for my costume jewelry. Frakin, you made me laugh when you said your profile picture wouldn't go over very well there, lol. No one would buy your fabulous jewelry and want to look like your picture. hahaha I hope you get some sales, hope your shop catches on and becomes popular. Good luck.

I just looked at your stuff and wow--you do have some high end loot in there! Will be exiting when it starts to sell, should bring in good money. I don't even know how you know what everything is. It is tedious--I am going to re-open my etsy store and I did about 10 drafts today. I'm so clueless that I have to look everything up and then I still don't know.
But you've done a lot to get 63 up there. Keep at it--it looks very impressive, at least to me.
(I hearted your shop)

Start with the signed pieces you have; it's easier to research and won't be so tiring. Good luck to you too! (Meanwhile, high end may never sell, you know...)
