This week, in the pocket of a gorgeous wool wrap coat with a Maleficient-sized faux fur lined hood.... 2009 $73 ticket to "The Pearl Fishers" at the Seattle Opera, credit card receipt for $42 at the bar at the opera house...with a $3 tip. I hope she kicked down some cash for a tip, too. $3!!!
Especially at the opera where the bartenders and waiters work double fast to get everyone served during the intermission.

I bet the $3 was it.
One of those cheapies that figure she can get away with stiffing the servers in all the confusion of intermission.

I found $20 and some loose pills in a jeans coin pocket. Kept the $20 and threw out the pills (actually took the pills to Police station where they collect old/unused prescriptions for incineration).

Sometimes I wish I could live vicariously through what's found in other peoples pockets - like what you found Betty. I recently bought a Longchamp bag for resale and found two folded up pieces of paper deep in the pocket. A Costco receipt (toilet paper and other sundries), and a gas station receipt. I could have found those in my own handbag!

I only find money in expensive skinny girl jeans. My friend found a nice pair of RayBans in a leather jacket at the GW once.

I haven't found much, just a few dollars once, but just last month, I found about $25 in an EF jacket. I was buying the blazer so it was a tough call, but I turned it in at the register. They put it in their donation box, which supports their charity. If I hadn't found it til I got home, it would have paid for my trip cause I would have figured it was mine at that point.

I found $5 in a Lands End coat last year. And once I found a calling card in the pocket of a fancy vintage gown (I looked up the name, she was a local society lady). The rest of the time its just old kleenex and cough drops though.

Have not found much in pockets other than kleenex. My mom once gave me a purse to sell with keys in the pocket - yep, they were hers. I also bought a purse with a few cute key rings and some pills in a pocket. Had my dryer serviced and cleaned today and got all kinds of goodies - maybe some were pocket treasures I missed, or from previous owners - $4.04 in change plus Canadian quarter; 4 keys; 1 sterling chain; 1 10k white gold necklace with tanzanite? stone and a blister pack with one chiclet type piece of gum still in it.

Best thing I ever found in a pocket of a purse was a half-smoked joint.
I had bought the purse for myself, but I work in a school and they bring in drug dogs, so I was too scared to use it. Never sold it, either.

fashion, all that stuff was hiding in the innards of your dryer? That's amazing!
betty, you've discovered a new breed; society bucksnugglers.
I've found cash in pockets here and there. I think the record was $25 in a ski suit pocket.
There was that embarrassing time that I found the bag of white powder stuffed inside a mens shoe at Savers and brought it to the Manager thinking it was coke or anthrax only to find out it was a chalk bag for cleaning the shoes.

I've found a dollar here or there. My mom found a dollar in a shirt she was looking at this weekend and kept the dollar and put the shirt back. That sort of makes me feel dirty.

Yep. I think it is the original dryer that was put in the house, so 30 years old and I doubt it has been cleaned or serviced in all this time. The duct was stuffed full. I remember your shoe story!

This thread reminds me of a story about DGD.
A few years back when DGD was about 8, I was getting things ready for a yard sale after doing some closet purging. Among the things I was getting rid of was several purses. As there was a variety of things in the purses (tissues, pens, mints, etc.), I decided to 'seed' each purse with a coin or two and then I asked DGD to clean everything out of them. I told her that any $$ she found would be hers to keep. :-)
So off I went on to other things while she started the clean out project. In a bit I heard a squeal and saw an extremely exuberant 8 year old jumping up and down screaming, "I'm rich! I'm rich! I'm rich!"
I could see some folded paper money in her hand and I asked to see it. To which she replied, "You said I could keep what $$ I found!!"
I assured her she could, but that I just wanted to see how much was there. Imagine my surprise to discover she was holding $276 in hard cold cash!!
I used to carry cash when thrifting and going to yard sales to shop for resale, and somehow or other I managed to leave that amount of cash in a zipper compartment of my purse.
And yes, DGD did get to keep the $$, though she never did buy anything with it but instead put it into her college account.
At least I didn't sell that purse with the cash in it!!!
P.S. Edited to say after posting this I noticed that I received my first profile extra - a purse! :-)

Empty-nester, you're a spectacular grandma. I would've totally reneged on that deal. Well, not totally. I probably would've give her $50 or so.

I once found the store tags to a coat I bought in the pocket. I thought it looked new and unworn which is why I picked it up. Other than that, it's just old tissues.

Thinking back on it, I DID find a really good pen in a Mark Cross purse.
A Montblanc Meisterstuck that I sold for $123. The purse went for less than $20.

Lots of old kleenex and a few coins is all I usually find. Where I shop for inventory, all the ESL shoppers (mostly the Russian folks) are madly going thru the pants pockets. But they missed the Starbucks card in a jacket I bought- it had $15 credit on it. Old purses can have interesting stuff, again kleenex, ticket stubs, old coins & receipts from places that don't exist anymore. Sorta cool, sorta sad.

Not clothing but when I was selling a house the new potential owners insisted the HVAC unit be serviced. I was really struggling financially but had to have it done. The service tech came up with a tin he found. My ex had hid $200 in the unit. I didn't reward him with money but I did give him my ex's bow flex from the basement.

I was at the bins today, shopping and trying to hawk the last of the Girl Scout cookies before the sale ends this weekend. One of the regulars wanted to buy some, but didn't have cash.
An hour later, she found $$ in a coat pocket, and I sold 2 boxes of cookies to her.

After reading in previous postings on the CAB about the great finds, I did spend a lot of time checking pockets. That got old very quickly, since I found zilch.

Found a whole joint in the pocket of a RL Hawaiian shirt. Tossed it. An unpleasant experience at a reggae concert in my youth taught me to never trust weed of dubious origin.

I found a very nice gold ring worth about $50 in a purse.
I found at least 3 tissues in EVERY pocket of the estate lot I bought. So...140 pieces X 3= a couple of Kleenex boxes? The lady must have had allergies.
