Ugh! I hate international package glitches! I mailed a dress to France and printed my label thru Etsy. Tonight she sent me a message (in French) saying the package went to the wrong address and is being returned. Their translate function is sorta vague but I think she indicated that the Paypal address is the correct one. At one point it said that "it walked home" lol. It's late and I don't wanna deal with it tonight. But does anyone know what happens in a case like this? I'll refund her the cost of the dress once it's returned but SHE's the one that entered a different address. I took a screen shot that shows the address she entered for Etsy; I don't double-check addresses but assume the one given is the correct one. And there's nothing that shows address problems like on a US order. UGH! Or Merde!

It's a month later and still haven't received the dress. I've heard returns by overseas PO can be VERY slow. She's getting pretty snippy about the refund delay but I still don't see how her putting the incorrect address in the Etsy field is my problem. Does anyone double-check paypal vs Etsy addy's on orders? Just curious about whether I'm wrong to make her wait or justified in wanting the garment back 1st. I guess I could just refund her purchase price and call it good in order to get her angry has-to-be-translated messages over sooner. Advice?

No advice, but sorry you are dealing with this. I don't double check addresses (don't sell on etsy), but with so few int'l sales on eBay it is probably a good idea to double check Paypal and it would only take a minute.

The return process is very slow and I think you have to pay something to get it back now? Your French buyer is simply going to have to keep her pantaloons on as the address mixup is her fault. You should be seeing your package soon - has there been any movement with the tracking number?

No tracking activity since it arrived in France- it just shows out for delivery. Actually all I have is her angry word that the package didn't arrive...I hadn't thought about it but it could be a scam to get a refund.

I'd call eBay and see what your next step is.

Well, today the dress was returned and I refunded her purchase price and shipping cost. Wish I could go to France for $20, lol! The package was marked as 'not picked up' and 'customs due'. It looks like she was a liar-buyer about her address AND a cheapskate that wouldn't pay her fees. Oh well; I can either reslist it there tho I can't block her, or put it on my website. Alls well that ends well I guess.

Can you block buyers on Etsy? If yes, be sure to add her to the monthly BBL thread.
I would NOT have refunded shipping costs, since it appears she chose not to pick up and pay customs fees.

I agree I wouldn't have refunded shipping since she chose not to pick it up but glad you finally got it back and it's over for you. Hopefully you can resell it for enough to recoup the money you are out.

Unfortunately, you can't block on Etsy, but you can cancel orders from time to time without any big repercussions. You can also report buyers.
