As the title says, I have this lovely Ralph Lauren wool/cashmere blend blazer, unlined, with the prettiest gold crown embossed buttons and a gold wire crest on the pocket--real preppy chic. It's marked size 12. The label is blue and says Ralph Lauren with the polo player in between the two names. What puzzles me is that the buttons are on the right instead of the left. Is this a woman's jacket? I know a man's jacket wouldn't be a size 12 but would a preppy boy's? (Obviously, I'm not familiar with boy's clothing). I'd like to list this thing and get it out of my house.

Looks like I stumped the band here. So, I just listed it as woman's size 12 with buttons that are on the right and all measurements. Tally ho!

There should be a very distinct measurement difference between a ladies 12 and a boys. So it's probably ladies. Boys 12 would be a pretty small blazer.

It's probably women's with "menswear styling", which is a style feature. That's not extremely unusual with that sort of classic clothing.

These were the measurements. They seemed pretty lady like to me, no? Size 12. Approximate measurements: bust (armpit to armpit) 40", waist 39", sleeve 24", length 29.5", shoulder to shoulder 16.5", hem 48".

Like chap said, menswear styled. Ralph Lauren does it a fair amount, so does flax on their camp shirts and Liz Claiborne on their mantailored shirts.

Yes, that's much too big for a boy's size 12.

.
No, there are "Ralph Lauren" lines for both men and women. And youth and children. "Lauren Ralph Lauren" is a much lower priced line for women only.
Lemme see if I can find a lineup of the different Ralph Lauren lines, there are what seems to be a legion....
The ones I know off the top of my head are: Ralph Lauren Collection. Ridiculously expensive. Stuff like $2,000 purses (the Ricky bag, named after his wife, can go even up from there in alligator etc) Ralph Lauren Purple Label, very high end ready to wear for men. The Ralph Lauren, for both men and women, can get pretty expensive. Polo, for men women and children. Rugby, which I don't know if it's still active....run by his oldest son. Denim and Supply. RL Country. RRL, named after his ranch...some of the Indian pattern and Western stuff has GREAT resale. Ralph, from the 90s, made for better department stores....misses sizes on the label but cut like a junior line. The label is plaid.

Once in a great while, I run into Lauren Ralph Lauren mens dress shirts or sport coats. I think they did a mens line for a limited period of time.
