I read that the other day. It is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of. But, I think the big boys are behind it. They simply dont want small sellers and retail arbitrage competing against them. So this is a huge win for them.

That's after being asked to provide invoices from manufacturers or distributors that show the purchase of 30 items within the last 90 days.
This makes sense, and is fair - but ONLY if the damn Chinese sellers will be required to do this as well. If the Chinese aren't being required to do this, the other sellers need to band together and file a class action lawsuit.
Online stores that want to sell brands like Nike (NKE), Adidas and Hasbro (HAS) are being told they have to pay a one-time nonrefundable fee of up to $1,500 per brand, according to interviews with multiple sellers.
This is nothing more than a money grab. How is paying a fee insuring the product is legitimate?

If Amazon REALLY wanted to insure products were legitimate, they'd crack down on the Chinese sellers and even toss a bunch from the site.

I think it's great that they're creating a broad way to go after fakes. One seller at a time reporting is too cumbersome. Birkenstock just left them because of this issue, yes? I bet if they didn't act, more brands would follow their path.
I don't understand the 1,500 fee. I think you're right, Val. Money grab.
