I updated to Windows10 a couple of months ago. I don't mind so much, that the upgrade took away my office starter version, so that I don't have any word or exel anymore. But the picture software is terrible for me. (I think it's just called "Photos"?) Wish I could just delete it from my pc or find an option to make another program my default. It won't let me rotate my pics anymore. Or, better said, it does let me rotate, but when I upload them to inkfrog they are back on their sides. Also, everything shows with a black background. I just started using a background removal program, right now I'm experimenting with it. The pics have a white/transparent background, but show up with a black background in my Photos program. They also show black when I'm uploading them to Tradesy. They show white on inkfrog. I'm usually not a dummy when it comes to stuff like that, but I'm really starting to get frustrated. It's such a time waster, when I really should be spending that time to list and make money.
Does anybody else have any issues like that? Is there any way to make the update "unhappen"?

I actually like the photo program and use it for all of my photos. One of the best features is the straighten, it helps a lot when I scan stuff and they aren't straight on the scanner.
You have a couple options when it comes to photo editing. You can assign a different default app or you can right click on it and choose 'open with' and then select the app to open it with. I'll try to find the way to change the default app and post it.

I think my photo program is just broken. It just crashes a lot of times too. I was getting a bit impatient yesterday, but I did eventually figure out to cancel out of the program and upload my pics manually from the camera. I played around with a background removing room and I'm really happy with tried. Tried a few free apps, but you just get what you pay for. Found one that's 14.99 for 500 credits and I really like it.

I'm not too thrilled with Windows 10. I didn't know they had a photo program? I had an older version of Picture It that luckily works with Windows 10. However my other photo software, ACDSee has issues with Windows 10. If I try to resize a picture for any reason it comes out bizarrely squeezed and tall. Sigh. I did find a free online picture resizer.

Wish I could just delete the program.

This explains setting your defaults more clearly than I can as it has handy screen shots www.howtogeek.com/223144/how-to-set-your-default-apps-in-windows-10/If your desired utilities are not natively present in Win 10, it takes you through adding them and then selecting them as your defaults. I had to do a bunch of this when I set up Win10 as a bunch of the utilities I use weren't Win10 defaults. The software is already on your machine, you just need to have Win10 recognize it, then be able to point to it.

Thank you, chapeau noir. I appreciate the help. I just wish I had the patience for this kind of stuff that I had years ago.
In a happier note, I have been playing around with a background removal tool the last couple of days and I'm extremely happy with the results. I'm am stunned how much of a difference a background can make in the appearance of the pictures.

For those who want Photoshop, they have a $9.99/mo subscription program.

Gabi there is also a Windows program that will troubleshoot any application that worked previous to the installation of Windows 10 .
It will allow you to run the app in whatever version of Windows it last worked correctly for you.
ETA: Troubleshooting tools
If you're looking for a specific troubleshooting tool, open the Windows 10 Settings app and type "troubleshoot" in the search box.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm so fed up with Windows 10 right now, I'm actually trunning recovery, hoping it will go back to before the update.

Why did you go to 10?
Were you on Windows 7 before?
I am not leaving Windows 7 until they take it forcefully away from me.

My pc is so old, I don't even remember what I had before. I think it was xp. I had been putting off the upgrade but then I got so annoyed by the constant pop-up , that I finally gave in.
Really sneaky is, that they take the free office starter version away from you with the upgrade and tell you to pay up if you want office.

You can get the whole office suite for $9.99 month subscription, lets you put it on up to 5 devices (pc, mac, android and/or iphone) at any given time. It would also be a business deduction products.office.com/en-us/office-365-home

I'm with you kritter. I use a mac, but have Windows 7 on my laptop. When I read that Microsoft was supporting it until January 2020, I decided to stick with W7.

I had to buy a PC a couple of weeks ago for one of my client offices - took me awhile to hunt down a desktop with Win 7 but I found it!

You can find a ton of them on Craigslist with Windows 7. Honestly, I don't mind Windows 10....anything other than Windows 8 or 8.1.

QB 2016 doesn't run as well on Win 10 as it does on Win 7. My tax office has to upgrade some computers and they're going to have the same issue. THe older tax year softwares won't run on Win 10.
